Egypt detains 6 Ivory Coast migrants trying to sneak into Israel

Egyptian border police detained six migrants from the Ivory Coast trying to cross illegally into Israel on Friday, security sources said.

Police sent two of the men to a hospital after they sustained serious injuries trying to climb a barbed wire fence along the border, the sources said.

Egypt's Sinai peninsula is the main conduit for traffickers trying to take migrants, mainly Africans, into Israel for work or asylum.

Egyptian police have opened fire at many of the migrants, killing at least two Africans this year.
