Dutch FM: Syria wants to restart peace talks with Israel
Verhagen was speaking Tuesday after a meeting with Palestinian officials in Ramallah.

He said Syrian President Bashar Assad told him Syria wants to renew the indirect talks with Israel that were broken off late last year.
The Syrian government held talks with the government of former Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert via Turkish mediators. Syria wants a full Israeli withdrawal from the Golan Heights, which Israel captured in the Six-Day War in 1967.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said in the past that Israel will not give up the strategic heights.
Verhagen was speaking Tuesday after a meeting with Palestinian officials in Ramallah. He was visiting Israel and the Palestinian territories following his visit to Syria.
