UN delays Gaza flotilla report, following request by Turkey
Move comes day before Palmer report into 2010 IDF raid on Gaza flotilla was due to be published; Turkey says Israel also requested delay.
By Barak Ravid Tags: Gaza flotilla Israel Turkey Middle East peace GazaUnited Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Monday agreed to a request by Turkey to delay the publication of a report on the events of an Israel Defense Forces raid on a flotilla bound for Gaza, in which nine Turkish activists died during clashes with Israeli troops.
The UN investigative committee into the raid, headed by Geoffrey Palmer, had been due to publish the report Tuesday.

But Turkey turned to the UN chief, Israel, and the United States on Sunday, asking to delay the publication of the report by seven to ten days. The U.S. showed support for the delay, and Israel did not express opposition. According to the Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman, Israel has also asked the UN to delay the report.
An Israeli official said that a delay of the report would allow the renewal of Israel-Turkey negotiations aimed at ending the diplomatic crisis between the two countries, and to try to word an Israeli apology to Turkey that would be acceptable by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Last Wednesday, Netanyahu told U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton that Israel definitely will not apologize to Turkey for the events of the raid on the Gaza flotilla.

It is in Israel´s interest to delay the report, not Turkey´s... it is common knowledge...
The UN issued a report on the Hariri assassination. At first they simply announced it's existence and leaked that the report implicated Hizbollah. They said that the report would be released months down the road. When the report finally came out, there was no direct evidence at all. There were only some circumstantial telephone records during a time that Israel was known to have mutiple spies within the Lebanese telephone companies. Now that the report is out, it has become an embarrassment to the UN who has since dropped the subject. Now we have another report fueling speculation. Again some "details" were leaked, allowing the imaginations of Israleis to once again run wild. If the UN has a report they should cut the drama and release it and not play these stupid games. It seems as if the UN strategy in the case of the assassination report was to cause friction in Lebanon. Now what are the motives?
Looks to me like Israel called the Turkish bluff, now Turkey is begging for an extension to re-negotiate the publication of a highly critical of Turkey and embarassing report. Israel should learn from the experience and play hard-ball more often. Placating Israel's enemies (including western haters) won't work anyway so why bother.
The day the IDF killed those 9 very violent "peace activists", Turkey probably killed 90 Kurds that, unlike the Arabs, who have 22 countries, 2 in Palestine, Jordan and Gaza, have no country of their own. Free Kurdistan now!
IGNORANT !
Next time IDF should make it sinktilla.
Turkish officials stated that as we are still waiting for the report to be published, Israel demands to delay for the third time. In this piece of news it confirms, Israel wants a delay. Anyway, this might be because that Palmer requested autopsy reports from Turkey.
Hopefully the good Turkish people will understand that extreme Islam is not a way into the modern world. In a short sentence; Stop spitting at Kemal Ataturk.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Selcuk Unal, AA(the official state agency) correspondent, said in a statement Mavi Marmara delayed disclosure of the report, the request for postponement was made by ''ISRAEL'', he said. Unal, "This is a request for deferment as the others came by Israel," he said.that this person is not an unknown source.Israeli, not an unknown source.foreign Affairs spokesman say. What Israel is doing?Israel is a very variable-spirited or chameleon
The last thing the UN and Turkey want is to publish a report that is remotely positive with Israel.
Why is ISrael saving turkeys face. Israel is not issuing an apology Neyanyahu has sated as much in this yellow rag. So why the delay. Me thinks Turkey protests to much and is guilty as sin.
The mad idea Israel needs to explain itself why it didn't allow own soldiers to be lynched proves Bambi the Hutu would love Islamists won.
