Case 8493, which includes the story of a prisoner whom the State of Israel admitted this evening existed, until he stopped existing, is not an Australian story. Ben Zygier/Allen/Alon may have been born in Australia and continued to use the passport of his first homeland. And the report that broke the dam of silence is the work...

The Prisoner X affair is a classic story of Israeli failure
This story is not about Ben Zygier's double identity, it's about how Israel's most sensitive government agencies are not functioning. If indeed the reports are correct, the State of Israel still doesn't control the basics.

09 0 0NOW THAT WE'VE CONSIDERED BEN, WHO WILL EVER KNOW WHAT HE DID OR DIDN'T DO!
- By Moshe Chertoff
- 14 Feb 2013
- 00:18PM
I'd like to believe that he was an upstanding individual who had regard for others and laws (Israeli and international). NOTHING justifies his death. If accused of whatever, he deserved his day in court. Who knows, he might have been deserving of the Noble Peace Prize, or (at least) the Isreal Prize. But in those matters, he just might have crossed the wrong individual and paid the ultimate price. In any case, I send my condolences to his family and friends. PEACE to all.

08 23 0DON'T FORGET THE PERSONAL TRAGEDY. FAMILY'S LOST A SON, KIBBUTZ LOST A MEMBER, WE'VE LOST AN IMMIGRANT AND PATRIOT
- By Moshe Chertoff
- 14 Feb 2013
- 11:50AM
Let's not loose sight of the personal tragedy that happened. How horrible for Ben's friends and family. This could have been prevented if our "leaders" would have heeded the call by MERETZ MK Horowitz to investigate (and publicize) what was happening with/to this young man. For anyone who has volunteered to endanger their life for our country, and been forgotten (or worse) by the system is horrific. Someone must sit in prison for a long time for such a human tragedy. These "leaders" don't just enjoy benefits, they have responsibilites and must be held accountable!

This not something Mossad would tell anyone of such matters, ASIO is a domestic agency, ASIS use to be desk of ASIO. So it is likely he was speaking to an Australian handler. Hence their knowledge of the matter.

06 38 0israel, haven for unscrupolous criminals
- By Matteo D'Agostino Veglie, Italy
- 14 Feb 2013
- 09:58AM
arafat died, but was most likely poisoned. an italian airliner with 81 people on board was shot down near the island of Ustica in a most misterious way in 1980. no one knows as yet who did it. mossad is responsible for many international criminal acts, under the cover of their government, and the israeli justice system. western governments are also involved for giving in to israeli requests and giving them green light and mossad getting their license to kill. mossad are unscrupolous killers, again, with the consent and approval of their government, who blackmails other governments.

05 45 0The significance of a passport
- By Ben Ya'acov
- 14 Feb 2013
- 08:08AM
" But Zygier's double identity isn't significant for the story any more than the foreign passport held by many Israelis." If it had been a Palestinian, with no passport, 'disappearing' like this I wonder if there would have been any story at all! It is lucky for Israel that there are foreign countries who still care enough for their citizens to uncover embarrassments like this.

All these intelligence and security issues drum the real story behind Israel's horror stories to be told later. Bibi or the fake pm who took over power through vaccum will soon make a stupid mistake and you will pay dearly. The poisoned Arafat story is still in cooking and will be a headline of the peace treaty failure. may he rest in peace.

Ha, ha, ha. You don't know ASIO
- By Gordon
- 14 Feb 2013
- 08:53AM
Knowing ASIO (Australia's external intelligence agency) it most likely they only knew about it because Mossad told them so they wouldn't blunder in and screw up the deal. Like MI6, ASIO's highest allegiance is to America and Israel. It wouldn't have stopped him abusing his Australian passport to spy on Syria and Iran for Israel, it would have helped him, and hoped Mossad would have tossed it a few scraps of intelligence.

In regards to ASIO
- By Steve - Melbourne
- 16 Feb 2013
- 02:28AM
Firstly, ASIO is a domestic intelligence agency, like MI5 & Shin Bet. They have no powers of arrest, guns or license to kill. They report to parliament and the Attorney General’s Office. They augment their powers of arrest through the AFP (Federal Police). However, ASIS is the equivalent of MI6, CIA & Mossad. It’s responsible for liaising with foreign intel and is the counter intelligence apparatus of Australia. It’s certainly not a lackey nation in the intel game, it’s the LUCKY COUNTRY! ASIO was aware of passport irregularities, couple this with travel in terrorist hotspots and you have a reason for interview. This is standard procedure and hardly needed scraps from Mossad, since they were observing him long before his arrest, which no doubt spooked Israel’s secret service community. Too bad they over reacted, as no amount of compensation could ever be enough for the pain his family are still going through (3M Shekels). I for one don’t believe he was a traitor. and my condolences go out to his family & friends in Melbourne.

Misuse of his Australian passport
- By Helen - Sydney
- 02 Mar 2013
- 02:12AM
I have no problem with native born Australians deciding to leave and take up residence and citizenship in another State, I do have problems with them then deliberately misusing their Australian passport in the service of their adopted State. Ben Zeigler didn't deserve to die in an Israeli prison but he chose to leave the land of his birth for Israel; to join the IDF and apparently Mossad and so to take his chances. Whether or not Zeigler could be fairly described as a traitor to Australia is unkown but the willing misuse of his Australian passport(s) is hardly loyalty to Australia. Its time to examine whether or not Australia should continueto accept duel citizenship, especially where a person enters another State's defence forces (either voluntarily or by draft). The pain that Zeigler's family is going through is real but not exceptional - pretty much similar to the pain felt by Palestinian familiies when they lose a family member by actions of Israelis. And unlike the Zeigler family, this they cannot avoid - they are pretty much locked into their areas where their movements are controlled by Israelis.
