Study: IDF officers identify more as Israeli than Jewish
20 percent of respondents defined themselves as religious and 46 percent as nonreligious, while the rest defined themselves as traditional.
Officers in the Israel Defense Forces tend to identify more as Israeli than as Jewish, a study by the IDF Education Corps has found. In the survey of cadets and officers up to the rank of lieutenant colonel, 94 percent termed their Israeli identity very important, while 82 percent considered it important or very important.
