All peoples at some stage were 'invented'. Just like there was no Palestine, there was no Israel until 1948 and by creating Israel, Palestinians were created. You can't deny there are people living on the 'invented' land, whether you call them Palestinians or arabs, whose ancestors had been living there for hundreds of years and who have all the rights to claim that land and establish a state there. No country in this world came to exist as a result of an organic process, all of them were shaped through interactions with other countries/ethnic groups (e.g. Israel, US) and are based on historic events. Just like the Palestinian state will one day be shaped by history. Whether you consider these people invented or not doesn't give anyone the right to treat them like animals: the simple fact is that they are human beings living on their ancestral land having the same basic human rights like any other 'invented' people. Thus making the discussion whether they or invented or not irrelevant. As for Gingrich and the so-called American democracy: it is sad to see that American presidential candidates have to bow for certain ethnic groups in order to grab the presidency, What policy can we expect from this kind of opportunists? The truth is that this country was once a malarial swmp until the Jews arrived. There were not many herdsman living around here. When the English allowed Syrians, Iraqis and Iranians into Palestina most of the malaria and trachoma was cleared up by Jewish doctors. If anybody has a right to this country it is the Jews. Let both issues be open to intellectual, open, and free discussions (and without the fear of incrimination) and let's see which one stands the test of scientific investigation and validation.

The Israeli government acknowledged in 1993 that there is a "Palestinian people" when they recognized that the PLO was the sole representative of said "people". Israel gave that recognition in black and white, so there is not much point arguing otherwise.

The Jews are named after the Tribe of Judah, but they include among their ancestors not just people from that tribe. More accurately the "Jews" are Israelites. Even more accurately they are Hebrews. More accurately Samaritans are Israelites, more accurately they are Hebrews. More accurately Palestinians are Israelites, more accurately they are Hebrews. Hebrew is the DNA, Israelite is the national identity, while Jew/Samaritan/Palestinian Muslim/Palestinian Christian is the religion they belong to. Together, however, they are all Hebrews. The Palestinians coming from Samaritans and Jews. While the Samaritans and Jews coming from Israelites. While the Israelites having been Hebrews. But thankfully, both Gingrinch and Adelson both expose their own agenda by highlighting one fact (that "Palestinian" is a modern invention) only to then obscure the whole truth (that they are an ancient people, members of the Hebrew people together with today's Jews) by suggesting the imposition upon them of another bluff, that of the term "Arab". As with "Palestinian", calling them or themselves "Arabs" is just a term.

Arn't the Americans are also invented. Most of them however can't go for some generations to say from where their ancestors came from. In case of the "invented" people of Palestine, most of them can go back to the early Arab Islamic expansion after Mohammed's death and could know at least, how long they are in the land of Palestine! So what? Are their rights less documented than new colonialists coming from around the World in less than 100 years before?

I am Jewish and I love Israel. But to say that "Palestinians" don't exist is "Absurd" and "provocative."

The head of the Military Operations Department of the PLO Zuheir Muhsein, declared, “Only for political reasons do we carefully underline our Palestinian identity. …the existence of a separate Palestinian identity is there for tactical reasons.” The PLO charter states that Palestine is part of the Arab nation.

Oh yes, a man with billions of dollars but not a matching amoung of brain cells. In fact he doesn't seem to realize that Americans are an invented people as are the Israelis.

Russian, Poles, Checks, Serbs, Bulgarians and a few more countries are all Slavonic race but different nationalities. So it is with Arabs. Still uneducated people think that if somebody is Arab he cannot be Palestinian.

Hey,. Even if the Palestinian people are an invention, we must admit that only Goebbels could invent such a clever piece of propaganda. It is ingenious to invent one people (Palestinians) to destroy the indigenous people of Israel (the Jews). This lie the PLO created is even more brilliant than the Aryan race myth to motivate people to murder Jews. The PLO should be proud of their invention.

Using the west these people are highly organized and through highly placed government positions are attempting to secure what they believe to be theirs for their grandkids. We are just goyim for their use. They dont feel its wrong to lie to us to accomplish their goals. This has been the largest organized swindle in modern times beginning with the first great lie "A land without a people for a people without a land".

From a presidential debate some weeks ago the moderator asked Paul if he thought differently or agreed with Gingrich weather or not the Pals were an invented people. Paul agreed that they were invented. Unfortunately the world bought into the idea that they should be recognized as a seperate people. It's about time for the truth and deconstruction: the Pals are Arabs no different that any other Arab group. The Pals as we know them were invented by Arafat. There is nothing remarkable about them either genetic, religous or cultural. The fact that so much of the world bought in has a whole lot to do with anti semitism, oil, immigration patterns and fear of terrorism than any moral or intelllectual capital.

no need to learn distant history- arabs of palestian were never called 'palestinians' until the 70-s of the last century. no un resolution ever mentioned 'palestinians' until then. they have no language or cultural habits that make them different from other arabs in the region. and yes, it is irrelevant that they are invented as a part of the political game against israel. they are invented now and we have to deal with it. but we have to recognize that their invention does not offer them right to certain territorial claims. they can get what other parties of the region are willing to give them just to get them out of their sight.

but money doesn't make it true. Adelson isn't a historian, just like Gingrich he hasn't a clue.

Dear All, A very surprising belief by Mr Adelson that is contrary to international legitimacy resolutions. If his view were to be believed then the UN would not have stated that the Palestinians were a people. Therefore Mr Adelson is sadly mistaken. Furthermore, the ruling of the International Court of Justice in the Hague (supported by all EU members) disapproves Mr Adelson's view as does 150 UN Resolutions. The recognition of Palestine as of now by 130 nations (that include Russia, China, India, Brazil, Malaysia, Indonesia and recently Ireland) has been ignored. Mr Adelson also interestingly forgets the fact that UNESCO's Palestine bid was success and was recognized by Spain, Ireland and France. God bless.
