Report: Israel seizes oxygen machines donated to PA
Seven machines donated by Norwegian agency confiscated en route to PA over chance generators attached could be used for purposes other than medical treatment, Ma'an reports.

According to Ma'an, the Ramallah-based health ministry said that the generators, which were donated to the Palestinian Authority by a Norwegian development agency, were seized by Israeli officials despite the fact that only one machine was bound for Gaza.
The generators "came under the category of possible use for non-medical purposes" if they were delivered to southern Gaza, the Palestinian health ministry said in a statement, adding that the six other machines were bound for government hospitals in the northern Gaza, inducing the European Hospital in Gaza City, the Rafdieyah hospital in Nablus, and other facilities in Ramallah and Hebron.
The Ministry of Health appealed to the Norwegian Development Agency, which supplied the machines, and asked that they intervene and demand the release of the equipment at the soonest possible date, Ma'an reported.
"Any delay in obtaining the medical equipment will negatively affect the health of patients," the statement concluded.

Oxygen machines need no generators. They are plugged into any electric connection. This is such an abvious lie. How come HAARETZ repeats it without checking, without asking for comment from the Israeli authority and without asking itself whether such a story could have even one grain of truth? The latest fad of the terrorist supporters is to claim that they send wheelchairs, oxygen machines and what have you, in order to create the false impression that there is a shortage of such. There is also the lie that Israel does not allow patients to receive treatment, but when you go to the children hospitals in Israel' half of the treated children are from Gaza. That the Hamas is lying, is clear. But why should the Israeli newspaper repeat the lies, without checking?

The population is increasing, rather then declining due to the blockade. Each woman gives birth at the rate of about 5 to 7 kids. That should answers some question regarding the death of civilians. They have a small diaphragm pump ( You can buy something similar for inflating tyres, balloons, air beds etc quite cheaply) Using these machines means no oxygen cylinders or gas reticulation required for patients who have depleted lung efficiency. A machine like this might be no use to an Israeli armament company that develops multi million dollar weapons but for Hamas its a different story. When you want to make weapons but you have a shortage of supplies you take anything you can get and use it for other purposes than for which it was designed so it can be weaponized or used to develop weapons. Hamas run Gaza they reguarly confiscate goods for aid purposes and either turn them into weapons or sell the things on the black market. Some things Israel should let up on but others when it comes to things that could directly be used for weaponry or goods that have duel use should not be allowed. These things might end up getting delivered to a hospital but if Hamas believe they can make use of them then they will go into the hospital and take them all in the name of liberating Palestne from the zionist enemy.

Aside from the negative publicity this generates for Israel, again shooting itself in the foot, adding to and renewing outrage from the flotilla incident, think through the excuse given. Even if it were not a far-fetched possibility, taking the supposition to it's conclusion, using these medically necessary oxygen machines to make weapons would cause militants more harm with Gazans. And how could Israel deny the sick oxygen without generating more anger and incentive to build weapons?

Sadly, Hamas uses their hospitals to store weapons as well as schools and Mosque's. We have all seen the Palestinians use their ambulance's to transport weapons, supplies and terrorists from one location to another. So the idea that Hamas would cannibalize this equipment for some nefarious purpose should come as no shock to anybody! But given the PR nature of this issue Israel needs to explain what it fears the use would be. Then set up a verification process to systematically check the machines by a neutral unbiased group and make sure this has not and does not happen. Oxygen generator can be used well to create oxygen , which is explosive and can be used as a welding gas although the gas would have to be comporessed, not an impossibility. They can be used to set concrete on fire as it burns hot enough to do so. recall a US air loner went down when teh oxygen generator blew up, aslo A canadian Submarine almost was destroyed when an oxygen generator started a major fire on board a new canadians Submarine. Oxygen tanks always have the potential for explosion. I am an EMT (emergency medical technician), and our full O2 tanks must always be secured at the station. Also, they are one of the components of oxy-acetylene torches (welding).
Everybody reguardless of creed, colour or religion shouls be given access to proper medical care.

You have to wonder if North Korea can get some medical equipment, but Palestinians in Ramallah and Gaza cannot. Anywhere in the West Bank, Israel can do a daily verification that the equipment has not had its use diverted. And the UN could do that in Gaza, again daily and give a report to all Israeli dailies about the medical use. Israeli bureaucrats have a screw loose - maybe a whole bunch.
