Police suspect alleged Jewish terrorist killed four Palestinians
Far-right extremist Chaim Pearlman was arrested earlier this week over two murders and string of other attacks since 1998.
By Chaim Levinson and Amos Harel Tags: Israel newsA right-wing Israeli extremist arrested this week over a string of stabbing attacks is suspected of murdering four Palestinians and attempting to murder another seven, according to details of the investigation released on Thursday.
Chaim Pearlman was arrested Tuesday, initially on suspicion of carrying out two murders in 1998, and for a series of attacks on other Palestinian victims over the last 12 years. The Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court on Thursday extended his remand by six days.

Chaim Pearlman in court Wednesday. |
Pearlman, a resident of Givat Washington near Yavneh, is a well known figure on the far right. At the end of the 1990s he studied at a yeshiva identified with Rabbi Meir Kahane's doctrines, and he was a member of the outlawed extremist group Kach.
Pearlman was arrested a few months ago for hanging wanted posters of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak.
After Pearlman was arrested Tuesday night, the head of the team of Shin Bet security service investigators, identified only as Adam, banned him from meeting with his lawyer for three days. Such a step is taken only in extraordinary circumstances, when the Shin Bet fears that a suspect's meeting with a lawyer might obstruct the investigation.
Pearlman's supporters, including right-wing activist Itamar Ben-Gvir and the members of Honenu, which helps pay the legal costs for Israelis prosecuted over confrontations with Arabs, were present in the courtroom Wednesday.
"The Israeli public is about to witness one of the most embarrassing affairs, which exposes the methods used by security services who employed improper means to get the suspect to link himself to acts to which he has no connection," said Pearlman's lawyer, Adi Keidar of Honenu.
Security sources said Pearlman had been in contact with the Shin Bet for several months in 2002, apparently indicating that Pearlman had been working for the Shin Bet at one point.
Channel 1 reported Wednesday that it was Pearlman who had cut ties with the Shin Bet after a few months.
The sources said that at the time the Shin Bet was in contact with him, Pearlman was not a suspect in the murders and was not involved in illegal activities. They said the investigation against Pearlman was launched a few months ago, after investigators began to suspect him of involvement in attacks on Arabs.
The investigation was conducted jointly with the police and closely overseen by the State Prosecutor's Office.
The sources said that at no time was an attempt made to induce Pearlman to commit a crime, and that any relationship Shin Bet agents had with him was for the purpose of gathering evidence against him.
Sources in the security establishment noted that it is very difficult to collect evidence against Jewish terror suspects and that a number of probes of this type had reached a dead end before they could be prosecuted.

The continuous "Poor Israel", everyone is so mean to us.
If he was a flotilla activist he could stab our IDF soldiers and be let free immediately to a heros welcome back in Turkey. Somehow the laws of Israel do not seem to be applied equally. If it was Nazi Germany I could understand.
The murderous smirk upon this EXTREMIST'S face tells it all: No Conscience and willing to kill in the name of religion...He represents the worst of the right -wing extremists in Israel. If that is what religion is all about , I want NOTHING to do with it... Or the rivers of blood that flow from its perpetual indoctrination. I ask ALL Israeli's: Does this person represent YOU?
That if he was a Palestinian(or any Arab society for that matter) he'd be praised as a national hero, get interviewed and have schools and streets named after him. If he's Jewish, then he'd get prosecuted and serve his time. The examples are far too numerous but the most notable ones are Samir Kuntar the child killer, Lebanon's hero in Hezbollah uniforms and Wafa Idris the 'symbol' of Palestinian women 'pride'. Savages living in the middle ages. Maybe 500 years from now their societies will modernize. I hope the world doesn't pay a heavy price until then.
We find in every case similar to this one the usual excuses offered, all of them declaring how this kind of person is an aberration, or that they are mentally unsound. All of these strategies of denial are attmpts to cover up a salient element of Israeli life and that is this. Since the flourishing of the occupation and the ever grwoing extremism and fanaticism of the usurpers, this kind of murderous personality has been bred and cultivated by this segment of the Israeli population. They have been raised by parents, communities, peers, rabbis, schools who condone this kind of behaviour as not only permissible by Jewish law but laudatory. They have so dehumanised Arabsand come to believe that as a group they are "rodfim" ie those who come in pursuit of Jews to kill them therefore you kill them first, even babkes who are potential killers. This is not some isolated phenomenon. It is funded and supported and has pariticipation and cover from elements in the IDF.It is a diesease that has infected the body of a state that is already terminally ill.
He didn't kill any Jews. Your question makes no sense.
Look at the picture they show of their hero with a big friendly smile on his face. There are other pictures available of this terrorist but Haaretz manicures the perceptions of the readers by picking and choosing words carefully and posting this picture.
Israel actually prosecutes problem makers like this jerk, to bad Israel's neighbours do not do the same for what their politicians sometimes are also...
" You cant touch me.I have been authorised by god".
An American? Some loser from Brooklyn. What a disaster
Terrorism has no nationality, punishment does.
Ok, we know that he is presumed inocent until proven otherwise. Murdering Palestinians for political reasons is no different than Palestinians murdering Israeli citizens. For that comes under the Terrorist Charter. Therefore should the above perp be found guilty, then he must be sent to a jail where terrorists languish. That however will not happen, since the extremists have power, the power that I have clearly stated many times, the power to destroy what we built and defended, the true democracy of Eretz Israel. They, the terrorists, are just that, murdering scumbags that murdered the great General Rabin, a friend and mentor. Spending the last many years in civilized Switzerland has not changed my attitude, only increased my desire to witness the fall of this Right Wing Fascist Movement that has become a Terrorist Organization that must be destroyed at all costs. Nobody can justify that whatever happens could be construed as anti semitism. For they are outlaws. As GWB said, "In Texas, we have a poster,...Wanted dead or alive"! Good day.
for Israelis prosecuted over confrontations with Arabs"? So an Israeli can commit crimes against an Arab in Israel, W. Bank, E. Jerusalem or wherever and get free legal representation? Is there a similar organization that funds Arabs committing crimes against Israeli's? I doubt it. It would have been closed down as a terrorist organization and any supporters would be locked away in prisons for supporting a terrorist organization. I suppose Honenu is also listed as a charitable organization so that U.S. Jews can contribute to it and get a tax deduction.
Do you think that "Honenu" might be one of the 40 organisations in the US that helps fund the stealing of land in the occupied territories and building settlements there? Might call your congressman about that one.
I bet he is not alone when he committed the despicable crime. He had moral support from people from within the Israeli government who silently support state terrorism against the palestinian population. He was let on the loose for long time for what he was doing. He is not alone now when he has been arrested. Just watch how many politicians and people who will support him. If he ends up in prison then see how he will be treated like he is staying in a five star hotel. That is why there is that wicked smile on his face.
Yes there is Betzelem and a host of others. Do you think only Jews are undeserving of a fair judicial process?
No maranda rights? 3 days they banned him from meeting with his attorney because they thought that it would imoede their investigation? Haaretz is taking this sitting down? or is it because he is a right wing fanatic who doesnt deserve our protection.
Palestinians are frequently banned for weeks from seeing a lawyer, often only meeting them at their trial.
Then they realised he was one of "them". You dont really understand Israel---do you.
If it works and he is freed because of the inadmissability of the evidence of the Israeli secret service. I presume there will be appeals from a lot of Palestinians currently in prison because of evidence provided by Israel's secret service. However if is more likely that Pearlman like the last Jewish terrorist arrested for killing Palestinians and Israeli policemen it is more likely that he will be found insane and unable to stand trial. Afterall it is all about victimhood with the Israeli State, having Palestinians defend themsellves because of jewish terrorism simply won't do will it?
Jut think if he was a Palestinian who murdered Jews he would be a national hero, complete with posters and songs, and the Western press would be falling over themselves to interview him and his family to "understand" his motives.
You are justifying a terrorist. Lets be honest Jews who kill Pals, like this guy are called hero's as well. You just did it. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.
I'm not justifying a terrorist at all. If he is found guilty I'll think that he is a murdering racist scum. That is a healthy reaction. Palestinian society on the other hand openly praises people who murder women and children.
Read attentively. Augustus does not justify the alleged murderer and does not claim he is a hero. What he says that the reaction on the same crimes, but perpetrated by Palestinians, could have been different. And your comment only proves his point.
You mean, like Baruch Goldstein for example?
Baruch Goldstein is not a national hero, but another scumbag , there no and never been any state commemorations and justifications of the crime he commited. Of course he has admirers, but so is Bundy,Gitler, Bin Laden.....,Manson...In the palestinian controlled territories and other Arab countries killers get state recognition as national heroesMARTERS :Samir Kuntar, and every other dirtbag that killed children, wemen, elderly, young civilians.
in the western press. If you want to make up things in order to influence people, at least make up believable things
My point is both sides glorify and justify the killing of the other side. You know this man is a hero to the extreme in Israel. It's no different than extremist Pals glorifying the killing of Jews. The people on both sides who don't want peace, live for this stuff.
What do you know about palestinians ? Ignorance and generalization have become a tool for terrible propaganda....and a danger.
Can you find any systematic condemnation of this guy among the Jewish people? I haven't seen anything.
It is not easy for Alarich the Goth to be disguised as Augustus. Criminality can't be justified by faulty opinions
BILLIONS
