Moderate Abbas is not of Israeli style. The moderate leader on the Palestinian side is largely left alone. In fact, Israel will never again get a negotiating Partner like Abbas. Let's face it.....Bibbi, Lieberman and Barak don't want peace, they want Land and War. They know nothing about Peace making.

While I do not expect a resumption of peace talks anytime soon, it is refreshing to hear one of Israel's true statesmen speak openly and honestly. Quite frankly, I'd rather have Peres as FM. Unfortunately, Israel is not ready to move ahead. Neither, for that matter, are the Palestinians.

Israel may not realize it, but its rapidly becoming a global pariah. In the short term it may think that it can get away with not-so-subtle land grabs without anyone getting too angry, but the feelings of disgust are accumulating and the goodwill in the few pockets of the world that still support Israel are dwindling rapidly. I'm an American Jew and I take no pleasure in this, but it is the truth. These settlers will be the downfall of the Jewish state if we don't take control of this situation.

Peres has either went senile or is out of touch with reality. The only thing that seperates Abbas from Hamas, is a suit and a smile.

Every time there is a threat of dismantling the PA, Israel cuts a cheque. As long as the occupation is outsourced in perpetuity peace is not high on the agenda. As long as the rest of the world continues to pay for the damage, for the reconstruction, for the dismal living conditions of many in the occupied territories and Gaza there is no need for the only democracy in the middle east to behave like one. Eventually, and this time is coming sooner rather than later, the rest of the world will tire of the burden of an ungrateful ally and say enough. Grow up !
