Palestinians seek to enhance UN status to observer state

We tried that for 20 years. The result is 600,000 settlers and Jerusalem suddenly being non negotiable. Not to mention the ridiculous demand for a 'Jew state'. No thanks, we much prefer international law.

Most pundits agree that for the Palestinians to have a viable state it needs to encompass at least 95 percent of the existing West Bank (plus negotiated land swaps). At present Israel has complete control over 60 percent of the West Bank, known as area C. Its current actions in the Hebron area of area C indicates that it is interested in cleansing area C of Palestinians, and it is not beyond the realms of reality with a view to annexing it to Israel. I believe that Netanyahu might be interested in achieving a 2-state settlement but for the Palestinians this is not likely to encompass more then 50 percent (being wildly optimistic) of the West Bank and be based on forming cantons focused on its main urban areas. By no stretch of any realistic person's imagination could this be considered a viable state. Moreover, the Likud Charter expressly says that there will be no Palestinian state in the West Bank. The bottom line is that neither this nor in all the likelihood the next government which is likely to be more of the same is interested in seeing the Palestinians get a viable state - and with East Jerusalem as its capital. So what other option is there? The Palestinians must focus on getting as much support as they can from the UN (regrettably America will apparently block any attempt at full statehood) because what other avenue is open to them except full-out bloody conflict - and should that really be the preferred option?)

Most people have no knowledge of this conflict. Even israelis have no idea what's going on 30km away from them in the territories. It's for a high level education so this mascarade can end and the palestinians can live on their land, free from that occupation and indepedant.

They can't manage to produce tomatos let alone a nation supportive economy.
