Palestinians dance to Lady Gaga in Hebron, to counter video made by IDF troops
Video created in response to clip posted on YouTube last week by soldiers who performed routine to Kesha's hit Tik Tok.
By Haaretz ServicePalestinian residents of Hebron and their Israeli supporters have posted on YouTube a dance-video of their own, to respond to one created by Israel Defense Forces troops apparently bored during patrol duty in the contentious West Bank city.
The minutes-long video created by six soldiers shows them stopping patrol to dance to American electro-pop singer Kesha's hit Tik Tok. The video "Batallion 50 Rock the Hebron Casbah" shows six dancing Nahal Brigade soldiers, armed and wearing bulletproof vests, patrolling as a Muslim call to prayer is heard. Then the music changes and they break into a Macarena-like dance.
The army called their video a stunt, but promised that the soldiers would face disciplinary action over the matter.
The video garnered hundreds of thousands of clips on YouTube, after it was pulled from the web by its creator and then reposted.
Palestinians and activists choreographed a video of themselves in response, showing two kaffiyeh-clad men searched, handcuffed and arrested as Lady Gaga's Poker Face plays in the background.
The response video has already received a number of responses, including calls to stop the "occupation and apartheid."
Similar clips involving other armies have grabbed headlines in recent months, including one of American forces in Afghanistan doing their take on a Lady Gaga song.

like since the begining of time. u r still dont know to be original... we have to do something so u would do it also.
Well at least Israelis dance better.
At least the Israelis were innovative. The Palestinians made a poor copy and this is newsworthy?
Surely, one can only dream of the day when Israelis and Palestinians dance together in the streets. Having set a precedent, the dancing Nahal soldiers should be commended, not disciplined.
That's all they could come up with -- aside from the fact that I don't think all those guys are Palestinians, more likely Western "activists"
I see you need a lot of practice learning how to build a State and then providing good entertainment for it.
Well done! It gets the message across..
And the Jews win again.
Thay sure have Rhythym
These so called brave IDF soldiers seem pretty carefree. Well I guess they would be since all the doors to the street are welded shut. I didn't know of this till Larry King asked Netanyahu about it at the end of the interview. I guess his producer thought it was funny too. The rebuttal to this is the video of the old woman climbing to the roof and risking death to reach the street. Goldberg is not to blame. Palestinians must be protected from settlers. If I were a radical Islamic Palestinian I would make those IDF guys apologize to the people of Hebron.
Like the lebanesse war with the Hummus!
Like the lebanesse war with the Hummus!
It actually looked more like the Hamas militia round up and search routine for homosexuals/collaboraters/Fatah members/Modesty infringers/Anti-Western behaviour/Insert your own "crime" here.
It really looks bad. Our soldiers marching in the streets of Palestinians with guns and dancing while the call for prayers. Another way to tell the world to hate Israel. Growing up outside Israel showed me how bad we are and why the world is united in hating us. Please delete!!!!!!
The pals have no imagination and a poor copy at best. 9-11 was hardly a welcome wagon. Hatred is more directed at muslims in America. Wake up Jack.
First of all, the fact that you claim to have been a soldier does not make it true. Second, if you grew up outside Israel and saw how bad "we" are, why did you end up in the Israeli army?
AS a soldier you should be proud of your country, why can they shoot rockets and send in people to blow themselves up to kill innocent people and the world accepts it. there is no big uproar all over the world. or the un calling for sanctions against palestine. I say give them the right to rule and kill themselves, just stay out of israel!!!
all Israelis need to come out from their comfortable cocoon to find out how much they are like or disliked in the world.
Do not delete. The dancing Israeli soldiers video is so absurd that it will certainly not affect those who support Israel. And yet it might even endear those very strange Macarena dancer wannabes to those who have absolutely not an iota of sympathy for Israel. The laws of reality are broken, anything is possible, the strangest events may yet take place.
May all the fighting from now on be through dance offs. I have to say though, the Israelis won.
Dancing instead of fighting. So why is everyone upset? I think it's great!
they are upset because the idf soldiers desecrated religious sermony and made light of the occupation suffering which is remniscent lets say of some past history
I am confused, how is this desecrating religious ceremony? They are not in a mosque nor are they dancing to the prayers from the mosque. All they are doing is dancing in a street during the Muslim prayer time. If I live in Florida and I live near a Mosque does all life have to stop during prayer time? This is just 6 guys having a non political goof during their day. This was not sanctioned by the IDF and the 6 may be in a heap of trouble for doing this.
Hands down the Israeli soldiers are better dancers than the Arab Hebronians. Kol ha kavod for Israel and these soldiers who are trying to tell the world to LIGHTEN UP a bit. Ahm Yisroel Chai!!!!

So much better than killing people in restaurants....
"or killing extended families with 2000lb precision bombs"
OK..let's think what song would be the best for both groups to dance together .. "We Shall Over Come"? "All we are Saying..is Give Peace a Chance"? "It's a Wonderful World"? Any ideas!! Let's get together, yeah yeah yeah!!
i love these dance battles. these are the types that should be fought. imagine usa vs iran in a dance off..byonce's single lady..ready set ...dance
If only the conflict was limited to dances and record-breaking hummous platters...the Israel Dance Forces vs. Hezbepita. There ought to be more options like these for those of us who prefer non-violent hostilities.
You know, palestinians leave in fear are are de facto prisoners in Westbank without possibility to leave. Then some bored IDF with guns knowing they are powerful make jokes on the situation. Tasteless and disgusting! Shame on you Israel. Again you lost points with the developed West: because Israel acts as a banana republic!!!!
Their response was grounded in theior treatment by IDf, I thiought it was a well thought out stunt. Now loets see how Israel responds
you think they would be allowed to do the same in gaza?
And if this was in other context ..the dance was awesome...!
