Palestinian Authority arrests 2 in connection with West Bank shooting attack
Two West Bank Hamas operatives arrested for September 1st attack in which two Israelis were wounded at Rimonim Junction.
By Avi IssacharoffPalestinian Authority Security officials said Tuesday night that they had arrested two Hamas operatives in connection with the recent West Bank shooting attack that wounded two Israelis.
The September 1st attack occurred at the Rimonim Junction, near the Israeli settlement of Kochav Hashachar and east of the West Bank city of Ramallah. Two Israelis were wounded, one of them seriously, when Palestinian gunmen ambushed their car.

Four Israelis were killed in a separate shooting attack the night before, when they were fired upon while driving in a car on Route 60 in the West Bank. The four victims were residents of the Beit Hagai settlement in the West Bank.
The two Palestinians arrested are from a small village near the West Bank city of Ramallah.
Last week, Palestinian Authority security forces detained two men suspected of involvement in the attack which killed four Israelis. The vehicle from which the attack was carried out was located, and the evidence had apparently led the authorities to the suspects apprehended.
The suspects are two Hamas-affiliated residents of Hebron. It remains unclear if all of the persons belonging to the terror cell which carried out the attack have been identified by the Palestinian Authority. The PA has refused to give out official details on arrests made in connection with the fatal attack.
The PA has made clear that they have no intention of handing over to Israel anyone arrested in connection with the attacks. The Israel Defense Forces has not responded to the reports of arrests made or suspects detained.
The spate of shootings coincided with the launch of U.S.-backed direct peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians in Washington. The Islamist Palestinian faction Hamas have come out vocally against the talks, claiming responsibility for the shooting attacks and warning of further attacks.

That is how the PA treats terrorist when caught.
What are these Hamas operatives operating? They are operating the death and misery of innocent women and children as they operate to murder them or are they just terrorist?
The PA arrests hundreds of hamasassociates and seem to have caught the perpetrators of the attack. But it's not enough for you lot is it? Let's just wait and see if they are sentenced and what their punishment will be shall we? Before we get all cynical?
Keep up the good work. Of course the PA Security Forces are improving, now its time to become even better, that is prevention of such attacks.

Anyone who thinks the PA should get a medal for doing what should be natural to any descent people, think again. Nearly all terrorism from the West side of the Jordon comes from the PA, you know, good guy bad guy routine. The PA acted because this murder interfered with their plans to get one up on Hamas now that closet-Muslim Obama is trying to reduce the survivability of the Jewish people. Don't be naive, nothing the PA does is with good-will, only ulterior motives. Those motives are to empower themselves in order to defeat the Zionist entity. Jihad victory takes time, and cunning.

Again, I ask, who have the right and responsibility to try these two? or is trial just a formality for you? Is there any need for a trial in TOMY's world? Should the Israeli authorities even have the PA evidence or should they just be shot or hanged without trial to make you happy? What if the PA authorities are wrong and these guys are not guilty? Even paragons of law and order get it wrong sometimes. Even Texas has been known to make mistakes. So has Illinois. Or is Iranian-style justice your model?
Also stop the children from handing out sweets when the next terror act succeeds. On the contrary, teach them respect for life.....of everyone's life. Teach them the notion of humanity.

I cannot understand why one would make a headline out the arrest of possible suspects in the connection of a shooting that we all know serves the interests of the same Palestinians who are pretending to participate in peace talks with Israel. Arafat conducted his revolving door policy in the same type of maneuver to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes.

it is clear that Hamas wants Israelis and Jews around the world to see the attacks on the west bank families as isolated and justified. The truth is that Hamas has sent suicide bombers before and attacked men women and children throughout Israel. My fear is that Hamas plans an attack in Jerusalem and intensify the attacks in the following months as they did in 2000. I pray we see all Jews living anywhere in and out of Israel as Jews and our brothers and sisters and protect and defend Jews and non Jews alike.

It certainly is good news that the PA had both the will and the ability to do this and it bodes well for the peace negotiations that the PA has a functioning police capability. I presume the Israelis are pleased, or they certainly should be. Now there are a few errant settlers who deserve capture and incarceration as well. Go Israel, get 'em!

That's the police after all. Though I'm not sure if the sentence will be fair regarding the victims. And if you have any information on settlers doing anything illegal not yet arrested... well, THAT would be news!

Lastly, after we get a conviction, let's insist on the stiffest penalty possible. Deuteronomy 19 has several verses that address this matter. Verse 11, "But if anyone hates his neighbor and springs out of hiding and kills him, and then flees to one of the Cities of Refuge, the elders of his home town shall bring him home and deliver him over to the dead man's avenger. to kill him. Don't pity him! Purge all murderers from Israel! Only then will all go well with you." And consider verse 15: "Never convict any one on the testimony of one witness. There must be at least two, and three is even better."

The murders were committed in occupied Palestinian territory, not in Israel. Israeli authorities have nothing to say about this legally.

The PA was very anxious to capture some Hamas operatives in order to show good faith. Since there's been no evidence presented we have no way of knowing if they had any involvement in the attack.

Does somebody have a citation or a link to the provision of Oslo that covers who can try the suspects? Are all suspects to be tried by Israeli military court? Do suspected murders of Palestinians get tried by PA courts, even if Israeli? Interested in facts, not opinion.

The PA is fulfilling it's security commitments and enforcing the law.
They'll be tried and summarily released unlike israel, where there is trial, conviction, and prison.
