The driver, a third man who was not hurt in the shooting, told authorities that the assailants had been driving a Jeep. The police believe that the motivation for the shooting was a feud between crime families.

The two victims were Israeli Arabs.

Last week, four Israelis were killed when gunmen opened fire on an Israeli vehicle near the West Bank city of Hebron. The following day, in a similar shooting attack near the Rimonim junction in the West Bank, two Israelis were wounded, one of them seriously.

Hamas claimed responsibility for both of last week's attacks, which occurred on the eve of the U.S.-sponsored relaunch of direct peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, to which Hamas strongly objects.

The Palestinian Authority announced Wednesday that its security officials had arrested two Hamas-linked cells in connection to the two attacks. In both instances, the PA said they arrested two shooters and a support man.
