Obama forgoes Knesset address, opts to speak before Israeli students instead

Obama likes to speak to college students. They are less critical f his BS, and more likely to be gulled into believing his rhetoric, while ignoring his actions.

Careful Israel! He's been known to circumvent legal protocol and may be clandestinely campaigning as a new political party.

For not speaking at the Knesset and choosing instead to speak to those of us who 'bear the burden' of Bibi's government and the dictatiorship of the settlers. Kol Hakavod to Peace Now for organising a communal viewing of the speech at Kikar Rabin.

A complete and total insult, first not to speak in the Knesset, second to speak to students. He wants to erase the historical slate. Shame on American Jews for supporting this malefactor and manipulator. I would shun him. Tell him next time he can visit the Knesset, this time he can be a tourist.

Netanyahu also spoke to a student audience when he made his now infamous Bar Ilan speech advocating a 2-state settlement. We now know - even if we chose to give him the benefit of the doubt then - that he was simply playing games, that his administration had no intention of reaching a viable solution to the conflict. So Obama? I welcome his decision to make his keynote speech of the visit to students but it is what happens over the rest of his time in office that really matters. Only the West and most specifically the US has the clout to bring about real change. Nothing happened during Obama's first term in office, can we be any more optimistic this time?

Unlike Netanyahu who revels in making - albeit vacuous - speeches in front of the U.S. Congress, Obama has a different and more meaningful agenda: to deliver an appeal to the Israeli public; in particular to its younger generation, to get involved in working for peace in a concrete and comprehensive way, since the same appeals to the current Israeli government have fallen on deaf ears for too long. The message to Netanyahu comes across loud and clear and is a definitive, unequivocal clarion-call expressing Obama's disappointment, disillusionment and frustration with Netanyahu's continual stonewalling and even sabotaging the peace-process.

What an amazing idea. Obama well and truly understands that it is people of Israel who can HEAR his message not the deaf leaders who hear only themselves

Snubs the Knesset. He won't address the Knesset,unlike all his predecessors. Even Angela Merkel addressed the Knesset !
