"I call on all human rights activists in the world - go to Tehran, that's where there is a human rights violation," said Netanyahu during his meeting with the Austrian Chancellor, Werner Faymann, in which he discussed Israel's ease of the Gaza blockade and flotillas planning on breaching Israel's Gaza blockade.
"Today, after we lifted the civilian blockade of Gaza there is no reason or justification for further flotillas," he said. "These flotillas are organized by those who oppose peace, not those who support it. These people just want to break the security blockade."
Netanyahu also said that the list of items forbidden to enter Gaza will be published in the coming days.
Earlier on Wednesday, during a Knesset discussion on Israel's collapsing international status, Netanyahu warned that Israel's legitimacy is being attacked.
"We know that the attacks on Israel are threatening its existence, since we constantly hear people saying 'go back to Poland or Morocco'. They are essentially telling us to dismantle the Zionist enterprise."
Netanyahu went on to criticize the United Nations and other international institutions for targeting Israel alone for condemnation.
"They want to strip us of the natural right to defend ourselves. When we defend ourselves against rocket attack, we are accused of war crimes. We cannot board sea vessels when our soldiers are being attacked and fired upon, because that is a war crime."

"They are essentially saying that the Jewish nation does not have the right to defend itself against the most brutal attacks and it doesn't have the right to prevent additional weapons from entering territories from which it is attacked," he said.
Netanyahu stressed that Israel has taken steps to push forward a resolution with the Palestinians though they have not reciprocated the gesture.
"The Palestinian side promoted the Goldstone report, organized boycotts, and tried to prevent our entrance into the OECD. The Palestinian Authority has no intentions of engaging in direct talks with us," Netanyahu exclaimed.
"I call on [PA President Mahmoud] Abbas, yet again, to enter direct talks with us, because there is no other way to solve the conflict between us without direct dialogue. How could we possibly live side by side if they can't even enter the same room as us?"
Also during the discussion, Kadima MK Dalia Itzik called on Netanyahu to form a unity government with Kadima.
"If you truly want to form a unity government, a new government in line with the people of Israel, you should understand that what matters is not Likud or Kadima, not your ego or our ego, not you or me, but what should guide us is the good of the country," she said.
Earlier, Balad MK Hanin Zuabi, who took part in the Gaza-bound aid flotilla raided by the IDF on May 31, accused fellow MKs of hypocrisy for attacking her for her criticism of the blockade of Gaza.
"I was attacked personally and politically, but two weeks later the prime minister decided to end the civilian blockade of Gaza," she said. "Three weeks ago, I spoke on this podium, after nine people were killed to preserve the blockade. And now, after the prime minister ends the civilian blockade, as he calls it, no one yelled, no one even said a word."

NO need for peace talks. END the illegal occupation and peace will be realized.
The western world still supports Israel, just not the imprisonment of the Gazans. All the siege has done is force children in Gaza to grow up with anti-semitic values and make Gazans reliant on Hamas and their tunnels to survive. Why should anyone support it? Trading short term security for a long term insurgency is a terrible idea. Israel is a pro at anti Israeli PR but they're too arrogant to realize it.
LEGIT your not!.....no aipac no US tax welfare for israel
its clear the attack on the peaceful ships carring supplies to palestinias on part of the isralies commandos was wrong and even the un knows it apartner whom has always procted the israeli existance....so in my oppinion what nethayaho is saying is just bull crap. and he is lucky that the world powers havent taking matter on their and hands to attack the state of israel for their bad behavior.
militarely crush threatening regimes without any compromises and sparing no effort as to show that no one threatens Israel and takes away its right for self-defense..
One asks why is it that Israel is the only country in the world that its legitemacy is questioned all the time. The most important reason is that it tried and is still trying to replace a nation namely the Palestinians with another nation collected from all over the world. the Ideolgy of the state of Israel is an ideology based on metaphysics i.e God almighty behaves like a real estate broker and confiscates the land of Canaan and gives is it to his people. Moreover, for Israel to dfend itself legitemately, it should give the Palestinians their rights and human rights and then it can defend itself legitemately if the Palestinians attack.
Israel is used as a proxy for Anti-semites world wide.
Unless Israel respects the rights of the Palestinian people, there is more to come. Keep thinking about South Africa and what it went through. Just peace is more important to Israel as it is important to the Palestinian.
You can't now board civillian vessel sailing in international waters and in self defence kill 9 passengers? what the world is coming to? Israeli logic at its best..get sane leadership and the sooner the better, this is what talking you down.
Reach out and touch some bodies hand and make this world a better place. Give a little for peace Mr. Netanyahu …champion a movement that bring two peoples with the same ancestral history together in the one Land – accept Israel in the Green Lines, keep your settlement but accept them in the State of Palestine …why not? Take your military out of the peace process - be a man of PEACE. Say to Iran, we offer you peace; say to Syria here is your land. Say to the Arabs – welcome to Israel and welcome to Palestine, welcome to your holy places. Say to Hamas and Hezbollah Peace – reset this conflict, man! … This is the time.
Look who is calling on the PA president to enter direct peace talks. The man who has done everything in his power to destroy and damage any chance for peace. The man who is responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent lives on both sides. The man who continues to destroy Palestinian homes and build settlements, which he knows will frustrate the Palestinians more and more and will damage any chance for peace. What a joke you are Mr. Netanyahu. You are the biggest demagogue the world has ever seen.
Do not forget that the ultra-Orthodox and the settler movement both advocate delegitimizing the state of Israel by refusing to follow rules and laws that they do not agree with.
The Palestinians entered direct negotiations in 1993 having recognized Israel's right to their own state in about 80% of the disputed land. Since then, the number of settlers in the west bank increase by 4 fold. The Pals have had enough negations. It is time for implementations, starting with the removal of the sellers.
Israel needs new policies (not just military response) and a totally new p.r. approach. The world does not care who is right, it cares who has the best video clip and who has the story with the best emotional content. Time to start focusing, boys!
that Netanyahu is saying what he's saying to appease his fellow Israeli's. He surely can't believe what he says. We have heard this same old story for so many years it has become a parody of itself. The world believes Israel has a right to defend itself, in its borders (ala 1967). It does not believe Israel has the right to occupy and oppress others in what is clearly a blatant land grab. Anyone who doubts that, look at a map of the 67 borders and a map of today. It is truly criminal what Israel is doing.
who is buiding walls, denying people's right on their legitimate possession, blockading territory out of any right and using uncivilized methods against civilians. Unbelievable arrogance.
Poor guy...
mr netanyahu should change his complaning attitude and face israel's problems that he himself created with a different strategy. he should understand that all people have the same rights and the same duties.
Once Bibi and his cohorts, once the Israeli Jewish population, once the world Jewish population and other Israel supporters.... ...once they understand that the RIGHT OF SELF DEFENSE IS NOT LIMITED TO ISRAEL.... ...then, they can begin to understand why Israel's standing in the world is so low. Israel remained in full control of Gaza even after the 2005 withdrawal. Israel maintained a state of war with Gaza after the withdrawal. Palestinians have a right to defend themselves against Israeli military actions which occur daily in the form of attacks and the siege.
Israel destroyed its legitimacy when it started settling the West Bank. That was the beginning of the end of the Zionist projects, more than a few Israelis and Israeli politicians were against it. You have nobody to blame but yourself for going ahead with it, not to mention all other atrocities and insane building projects like the meandering security fence and network of Israeli-only roads to cater to illegal outposts. You are now simply paying the price for 43 years of botched and illegal occupation
I DONT THINK ISREAL PRIME MINISTER KNOWS WHAT HE WANT. LET THERE BE PEACE AND THERE WILL BE ILLEGITIMACY
Netanyahu: "We cannot board sea vessels when our soldiers are being attacked and fired upon, because that is a war crime" Nice way of distorting what happened due to the "investigation" made by IDF. Israel is'nt criticized because Israeli soldiers got attacked. Israel is criticized because Israeli sodiers attacked civilan ships on internation waters and during these Israeli attacks IDF killed 9 civilans. The soldier were never under attack before the soldiers started their own attack at the ships. Thats the fact. Or does he seriously mean that the "Ship to Gaza flotilla" tried to board the Israeli military ships? His speach is a tragic joke in the face to all serious efforts to bring peace to Israel made by serious Israeils.
Soon after Netanyahu took office for the first time (1996) it was clear that he was a failure. A British diplomat (or was it the foreign minister?) described him as "a drunk lurching from one lamp-post to the next". We see a repeat performance now, although it is developing a bit slower. Let us look at the damage, so far: 1. The peace process with the Palestinians is essentially stuck, and with the Syrians it is non-existent. 2. Israel's standing in the world has sunk so low that it is approaching the status of a pariah state. 3. The low standing is even getting to be shared by the US, where recently an influential analyst (A. Cordesman) wrote that Israel is of "tertiary" value to US national interests. 4. The unusual friendship with Turkey, a major Muslim state, and a strategic achievement conceived by and worked on since the days of David Ben-Gurion is simply given up for some unclear reasons of "national honor". Can things get worse? Of course. How about a military attack against Iran? What is wrong with Netanyahu? A psychologist might say that he is a weak man who is driven to appear strong and this drive overcomes better judgment. I don't know the roots of his problem except that he is clearly a progressing tragedy for Israel and we should get rid of him fast. No, very fast.
I can't believe that Netanyahu does not recognize the falsehood of each and every one of his claims. He is reasonably intelligent even if not a genius. He does what he usually does best, doing a PR job and trying to divert the blame onto others. Example: Old Helen Thomas now represents "world opinion" even though she is an American, and in the US, Israel's popularity is quite strong (and Thomas had to resign for her words). Another example: Blame the Palestinians for having "no intention" to engage in direct talks. Really? They set a condition, that Israel adhere to the obligation it undertook under the Roadmap and stop construction in what may potentially become Palestine. They had direct talks with Olmert, and apply various pressures on Netanyahu to behave as his predecessor did. One should remember that Netanyahu got his highest graduate degree (MA) in marketing. That requires good PR and disregard for truth about the product he is trying to sell.
Resign Resign Resign!!!
Israel does not behave like a legitimate nation. Israels legitimacy is not being attacked. It is simply that Israels self imposed illegitimacy is being observed. It is not legitimate to imprison more than a million people in a small area and deprive them of so many things and call their resistance "terrorism". The main problem with Israel is that they never give themselves a critical look. They avoid mirrors like the plague and anyone who holds one to their face is labeled an "anti-semite". If Israel would give themselves a good hard look, they would not wonder why their legitimacy is being attacked.
...(and Israel) have been "Lookin' for Love in All the Wrong Places"--for some darn reason or other.
You will lose islamo-fascists. You can pose, pretend to be someone else but will end up at the same place in garbage of history
Too little heed to the world, and it is coming far too late. Too much bribery of politician and too little honesty with its own people. Too much arrogance and too little common sense. Too much bully-talk and too little listening. Too bad.
The only thing there is "Too much" of is your lack of knowing what is the truth.
So it seem s that what you're saying is that Israel can not do anything at all that would be ok. How convenient.
So it seem s that what you're saying is that Israel can not do anything at all that would be ok. How convenient.
I agree with canuck, this government is the worst ever
Even though it may seem otherwise, most all of Americans side with Israel. In my view, Israel is the most important land in the world. I am praying for you all.
Please! do not speak for me american is going away from the rouge state of israel!! when israel decide to behave like a democratic state then I and many more in USA will eccept them again!
...The land given to the Jews, by God (the real one - not allah. With allah you might as well be praying to fairies and leprechauns). It will ALWAYS be their homeland. It will NEVER be taken away. Israel will always exist. With Jerusalem as her capitol. I believe this is close to what Joel was wanting to say. Those who come against Israel will be put to shame. This tiny little country has time and again thwarted attacks where they were outnumbered (even so much as 60 to 1). When will you get it through that Israel is here to stay? You nations against Israel know this: You provoke Israel and the Jews, you provoke God (the real one), and He will not stand for the provocation much longer - mark my words well...
What is not given blind support is Israel's current political policies. Unfortunately Lukud and their coalition gov't is intentionally blind to the difference between the two. The price is that people who support Israel (at peace and inside recognized permanent borders) are forced to loudly voice opposition to this myriad of self-destructive Israeli Gov't policies.
The problem for Israel is that their claims of "self-defense" are built upon a foundation of occupying another people for decades. Israel's occupation is what undermines Israel's wide-eyed claims of innocent and blameless "self-defense" and illegitimizes Israel.
There was no occupation before 1967 and the legitimacy of Israel was put in doubt. There were attacks from Gaza and the Golan Heights bebore the six day war .The a palestinian problem didn't exist bofore because the Arab countries didn't want to solve a problem that was born in 1947 when they rejected the two states solution. And if teh problem of refugee camps still exists is because the willingness to solve it despite the milliard in aid doesn't exist in the arab and palestinian leadership.
the occupation and the 1967 borders? good to know and then Israel could live in peace as a home land for the Jewish people ?
(rubbing temples at the sheer ignorance of this statement) How long? How long before you FINALLY realize Israel is here to stay. It was their country LONG before the Arabs. Long before. (please read this over and over until it breaks the brainwashing you've been indoctrinated with)
Youi already know Israel tried to geive back gaza to Egypt and West bank to Jordan and several occassions but tehy said no. They both Knew palis were trouble let ISrael deal with it.
is to make a bold even a brave move to show that Israel genuingly wants peace. It is the only way to show Israel's critics they are wrong. He can begin that process by showing that Israel is serious when it says it is lifting the blockade of Gaza to improve the lives of 1.5 million people.
Netanyahu: "When we defend ourselves against rocket attack, we are accused of war crimes. We cannot board sea vessels when our soldiers are being attacked and fired upon, because that is a war crime." This is the probem, and Israelis fail to see it: you are led by, you continue to elect, liars. And the whole world not only knws it but knows you don't care. That is the problem.
If the Israeli govenment wants to servive (and it will). They have to stop trying to please the rest of the world. The Arabs have on agenda, to get the world to condeme Israel on anything they do (and are succeding). Since that is the case, why bother giving them what they want..do what is good for the people of Israel not whats good for the Europeans, Americans etc. Europe is already being dictated by Arabs, and the United States is on its way.
Specifically the legitimacy of your policies. Israelis just have to decide if they will allow Israel to be drug down with you.
This comment goes to the core of Israel's problems since this coalition came into being. They should all resign and hang their heads in shame at what they have done and are continuing to do.
No israel, No Palestine. One State Solution is the best for all. One Man, One Vote, Equality for all inhabitants. Equal Pay for Equal Work, Equal Water Rights. No Apartheid, No Segregation
I can see how the Arabs have even taken over Kopenhagen..You want Israel to have one state with terriorst? Who controls the PA? A group of terorist that have an agenda to "Push the Jews to the sea". Wake up!!!
You really don't know what you are talking about. So easy to live in Denmark and give advice to another country. There are 1000000 Palestinians in Israel with equal rights, no segregation, with water and one vote for each. They make up 20% of the population. Israel got out of Gaza and instead of making a viable country, Hamas makes sure 80% live in poverty and 20% live with wealth. Go and see for yourself.
Well then I think that Denmark too has no right to be a unique political and territorial entity; it should be incorporated with Germany.
Yeah, how about we end the confessional system in Lebanon and see if chaos doesn't break out. Willful ignorance about the mortal danger to Jewish lives is antisemitism, isn't it?
is that what you call fairness? how is it good to all? how is it good to the Israelis to lose their independence and live in an Arab state . one state fine join this state to the EU or to America anything but being under Arab rule
and who might be the head of that Utopian state you speak of?
If you didn't want the Palestinians, you shouldn't have occupied the West bank and put half a million settlers in it, should you?
I propose 40 acres and a mule! Free balloon Wednesdays, a coldstone creamery in every town! You could build a "Terror Disney" - little martyrs-to-be could have their pictures taken with the cardboard cutout of their favorite gun-toting, scowl-wearing martyr of old. In the center could be the "Violent Kingdom" and surrounded by wild rides like "Pirates of the Jordan" and "It's a Big World (and it's All Ours)"! Think of the revenue!
