Netanyahu rejects French-Qatari cease-fire plan

The prime minister read the document quickly and rejected it out of hand, saying it does not guarantee other militant organizations in Gaza, apart from Hamas, will stop firing rockets at Israel.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has turned down a French-Qatari proposal for a cease-fire with Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Netanyahu told French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius on Sunday that Israel was not interested in French or Qatari involvement because he did not want to derail Egypt's mediation efforts.

Who are these French and Qatari diplomats? Are they serious people? Hamas controls the Gaza strip so in order to reach a cease fire Hamas needs to take responsibility and ensure that no more rockets are fired at Israel from anywhere within the Gaza strip and by any militant organisation.

  Israel controls the Gaza Strip, not Hamas. It is still the Occupying Power. Hamas can't 'take responsibility' for what the Israeli government refuses to allow them to.

Thetesa, Your digestion should be aimed at the Hamas leadership. Only they can give the residents of Gaza lasting peace...which can only be done by giving Israel peace...as in not firing rockets. This is what Israelis have been requesting for months
