Military drone crashes near central Israel town

An Israel Defense Forces Heron-class drone crashed in central Israel, Army Radio reported on Sunday, with no injuries reported.
According to initial reports, the drone went down near Kibbutz Hafetz Haim located by the town of Gedera.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the drone crashed during a routine flight, with Israel Aerospace Industries officials inspecting whether the accident was caused by a technical malfunction or by human error.
A little over a year ago, an IDF reconnaissance drone crashed into the northern Gaza Strip, necessitating Israeli forces to enter the coastal enclave in order to retrieve it.
The Rochev Hashamayim drone was controlled by an IDF artillery unit on an information gathering mission before it crashed landed on the Hamas-ruled territory.
An Israeli military unit then entered Gaza in order to retrieve the unmanned reconnaissance aircraft, later returning to be checked by its original artillery unit.
