Lebanon PM: UN must probe claims of Israeli complicity in Hariri murder
Saad Hariri suggests evidence presented by Hezbollah could point to Israeli involvement in the assassination of his father in 2005, Lebanese paper reports.
By Jack Khoury and Avi Issacharoff Tags: Israel news Lebanon HezbollahLebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri has called on the UN to probe claims by Hezbollah militants that Israel was behind the murder of his father in 2005, according to local press reports Thursday.
Harari said evidence presented earlier this week by Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah implicating Israel in the assassination of Hariri's father Rafik was "important and very sensitive", Lebanese daily as-Safir reported.
"I personally am in favor of a deep discussion of the details, because it is very important to me to find out the truth both as prime minister and as [Rafik] Hariri's son," Saad Hariri said.

Rafik Hariri, a former prime minister of Lebanon, was killed in a massive bomb blast in Beirut in 2005 and a UN tribunal was established two years later to investigate the assassination.
At first, Hariri's allies accused Syria and its followers in Lebanon of being behind the murder, a charge Damascus has repeatedly denied.
In 2009, however, the German weekly Der Spiegel reported that there was evidence linking Hezbollah to the killing. And last month, Nasrallah said that he had been informed that the UN tribunal would indict some Hezbollah members for the murder.
On Monday, Nasrallah held a press conference during which he attempted to shift the blame to Israel, citing an audio recording of an alleged Israeli agent and intercepted Israeli aerial drone footage.
Saad Hariri reportedly told associates that the maximum amount of time and effort should be invested to check the information presented by Nasrallah.
According to the as-Safir report, the Lebanese prime minister said that the UN tribunal should consider the information presented by Nasrallah, since Nasrallah's words reflected the views of many in Lebanon.
The head of the UN tribunal Daniel Bellmer has reportedly received the contents of Nasrallah's presentation and has asked to receive more details of the documents and films presented by Nasrallah.

the next will be that Israel started WW II
Trying to endear himself to the murderers of his father!! What a way to honor him.
That is a fact plain and simple. The most to benefit from Hariri murder was Israel, that is also a fact. That makes Israel a pretty good suspect dont you think??
This is about as stupid a comment that I ever heard. The fact is Hezbollah has and did gain politically. Hezbollah is the only organization that could benefit. It's funny how Israel gets blamed for everything that happens to the Arab world? Israel always had good relations with Hariri and stood together with against Hezbollah. Only a fool would even write something like this.

..that nothing could be put past that state. So its maniac lovers shouldn't be surprised if fingers are pointed at it.
This is only on example where Islamic rules are imposed on an once great country . As soon as it happens the country is gone .
An investigation should look at all the trail that evidence leads to. Nevertheless, Saad is a little puppet without backbone and without a country. Sorry to the Lebanese but you are now OCCUPIED people.
The case is not yet closed.
His father must be rolling in his grave.
If Israel is destroyed, what other Jewish State are they going to have right next door to them whenever they need to conveniently blame their own internal corruption / civil wars on? The closest country after Israel would be the U.S. and it would be much harder to blame the CIA whenever Hezbolla wants to murder another Lebanese politician? If you ask me, I think Arab nations need Israel more than they realize, otherwise it's only a matter of time till Arab nations themselves self destruct.
you are not only purposely ignorant of anything wrong with zio or jew you are just plain ignoran t of anythin g at all even stuff that is obvious and right in front of your face...time to open eyes and see....
George Orwell must be proud of Nasrallah and the young Hariri...
Desecrating the name of his father to further his political affiliation with his father's murderers. Can these people stoop no lower?
What a coward. Blame Israel to hid his inability to do anything against Hezbollah.
Israel is behind everything that happened in Lebanon, Israel will judge for this act. Israel is doing a show for us, Israel is scared from being eliminated
If Nasrallah has evidence linking Israel to the Hariri case, let him present it to the UN investigators. Nasrallah's claims that Israel tried some 10 years before Hariri's assassination to drive a wedge between him and Hizballah indicates nothing about the assassination. It is difficult to see what motive Israel would have to remove Hariri, a strong man who could stand up to the Shiites. For this very same reason, Hizballah had a motive to eliminate Hariri. Perhaps Hariri the Son managed to find out where Mughnieh, the top Hizballah military commander, was located, "leaked" it to Israel, and exacted his revenge this way. Now that Hariri was avenged, the Son is willing to make nice with Hizballah.
Lets see what teh Un says about any of this so called evidence fromn teh Sheik nasrallah. footage from what may be an ISraeli drone, which could be a turkish drone as they had them at the time..then again whio knows. The chain of evidence has been corrupted many times over, and footage edited . Nasrallah is farting in teh wind hoping he does not get covered with teh hariri murder. Guess what..indictments are on teh way, teh Un is playing Hizbbullah to get it to commit a course of action and then be found to have perjured themselves Smart for once by teh UN. If I was nasrallah I would not let any evidence out
It's not a pleasant thing to be a politician, specially in such country as Lebanon. Saed Hariri knows perfectly well, who killed Rafiq Hariri. Those, who killed him are his own coalition partners. And this is not just some politician, who was murdered: it's his own father! And Hariri is willing to whitewash the murder of his father and to reconciliate with his murderers for the sake of stability in Lebanon. Poor Saed Hariri.
No comments? Do you have a lump in your throat or what?
your father would be disgusted by your weakness. you sit in a govt with terrorists who murdered your father. For that you are forever stained.
this happened very frequently in the time of the Lebanese civil war, and this event has all the ingredients of the Israeli farce. Let's wait and see who is the real criminals.
What new evidence years later can Hizbo possibly have that they would sit on it all this time ? Perception is reality indeed. Our world is nothing but a computer program, I am glad you are a believer.
Powerful political statement that no doubt will impact the investigation in ways yet to be seen.
They call this Hariri Prime Minister,he is only a Prime target for Hezballah propaganda. He should be ashamed of himself, sleeping with the enemy.
Both. You're dad is rolling in his grave.
It doesn't take a PhD for one to see that the Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri is frighten to upset Hezbollah. So what does he do he joins the clown.
The son of Hariri is already yellowing his pants.. The whole lot of the Lebanese are among the most stupid entity in the world, only second to Hamass
