Jordanian king: World will 'pay price' if direct Mideast talks fail
Failure of the negotiations will reflect negatively on all parties, warns Abdullah II in statement.

A royal court statement said he made the remarks during a meeting with the chief editors of local newspapers, whom he briefed on his talks in Washington earlier this week with United States President Barack Obama, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Palestinian
President Mahmoud Abbas and Egyptian President Hosny Mubarak.

"The king cautioned that the failure of the negotiations will reflect negatively on all parties and that all states of the world and the region will pay the price, because the alternative will be
more wars and conflicts," the statement said.
The monarch also said that the direct talks, which were relaunched in Washington on Thursday, "provide an opportunity for resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict if the parties deal with the negotiations in a positive manner, so that all final status issues are addressed within the two-state vision."
Abdullah considers the establishment of an independent Palestinian
state "a strategic interest" for Jordan, which he said would continue
to provide "backing for the Palestinian brethren in their quest to
accomplish freedom and statehood."
The monarch said that Obama had assured him of his "personal commitment to achieving peace on the basis of the two-state solution that guarantees the setting up of an independent Palestinian state that lives in peace with Israel."

Do you guys really think that Muslims listen to your pupets like "king" Abd-dollar? Are you this detached from reality? Good luck facing the reality!
The Hashemites were always pro-western; one rules Jordan and another ruled Syria and Iraq for a while. If the Hashemites had been ruling Syria and Iraq now, there would have been peace and no war with Israel and the west. If Israel had been depending on Turkey and Jordan to transform the new Middle East after the war in Iraq, can they depend on Turkey? That leaves only Jordan, who is the most reliable. Jordan and Egypt, in fact, may be the best hopes and partners for peace now. What happened to Turkey?
Israel is a US taxpayer-financed apartheid state in clear violation of many UN resolutions and International Laws pertaining to their illegal occupation of Palestinian Land. If israel was really interested in peace with the native Palestinian people, israel would withdraw their soldiers and settlers from the entire West Bank and East Jerusalem and give that land back to its rightful owners. Israel has become a huge liability for america and most americans now realize this.
Abdullah is saying that if these direct negotiations fail then violence will surely erupt. Lieberman is quoted in another article today saying exactly the opposite i.e. if these talks fail then its no big deal; there will be no violence and Abbas and his gang will be as meek as pussycats. Dare I suggest that history shows that Abdullah is correct, and Lieberman is an idiot?
If the world 'pays' for Israeli intransigence, then perhaps the world will realize that it must convince Israel to change it's behavior. Israel admires and respects only force.
If Israel starts building the talks end. What does the world have to do with that?
israel will have to give up the occupation if it wants the peace. peace will come when we have freedom
Jordan is Palestine. Palestine is Jordan. This is the royal decree and sentiments of two of the kings of Jordan. "Palestine and Jordan are one..." said King Abdullah in 1948. "The truth is that Jordan is Palestine and Palestine is Jordan," said King Hussein of Jordan, in 1981. Let's closely examine the facts of history from the Arab perspective, rather than the Jewish one, regarding Jordan and Palestine. "Palestine is Jordan and Jordan is Palestine; there is only one land, with one history and one and the same fate," Prince Hassan of the Jordanian National Assembly was quoted as saying on February 2, 1970. Accordingly, Abdul Hamid Sharif, Prime Minister of Jordan declared, in 1980, "The Palestinians and Jordanians do not belong to different nationalities. They hold the same Jordanian passports, are Arabs and have the same Jordanian culture." In other words, Jordan is Palestine. Arab Palestine. There is absolutely no difference between Jordan and Palestine, nor between Jordanians and Palestinians (all actually Arabs). This fact is also confirmed by other Arabs, Jordanians and 'Palestinans' who were either rulers or scholars. "There should be a kind of linkage because Jordanians and Palestinians are considered by the PLO as one people," according to Farouk Kaddoumi, then head of the PLO Political Department, who gave the statement to Newsweek on March 14, 1977. Distinguished Arab-American Princeton University historian Philip Hitti testified before the Anglo-American Committee, "There is no such thing as 'Palestine' in history."
Lets not tweak history to justify Israel's blatant aggression towards a weaker people and the theft of their lands by a foreign people (zionists). The whole world is aware of the situation and that is why Israel has become a leper among nations.
If I kicked you off your land and told you "don't worry this is not really your land, your land is in the next country", would that be okay? Most Jewish Israelis are not from that region. They are from Europe or other areas. Palestinians really are from there.
Flat earth society is back !! Palestine is palestine, end of story.
and its citizens are Jordanian. Palestinian refugees live in many countries; and many of these countries don't give them citizenship or benefits. It would help the refugees if they did. If the Palestinian refugees become nationalistic and want their own state, it is a modern idea., and a supposed solution to the demographic threat to Israel. People are going along with the 2-state solution even when Israel says it is because of the demographic threat and they want to be the Jewish majority. Have you heard any arab leader objecting to that? They seem to be willing to go along. The Palestinian state would hopefully live in peace with their neighbors. The problem is the refugees; where do they go? Palestinians are refugees. I believe the PLO made some trouble in Jordan in the past and was kicked out. Jordan is run by a King who is at peace with Israel, and has always been its best friend, descendant of the Hashemites, who were always pro-western. An influx of refugees could upset the peace with Israel and create chaos in Jordan, something no one wants. I don't think the solution is annexing the West Bank to Jordan, although I thought it would be good for the Palestinians, who are stateless, to live in a country with law and order. Jordan seems willing to accept a Palestinian State, next to it. Many Palestinians live in Jordan, but they are citizens of Jordan. The Jordanians also keep their Jordanian royalty in power. There is a difference between the royalty and ordinary citizens on the bottom kept in a repressed condition, so as not to overthrow the royalty. It is probably better for the Palestinian refugees to have their own country, although let's hope their future rulers are as pro-western and friendly to Israel as the Hashemites.
Better to give them a state and let them either swim or sink. I would hope they swim.
A man of his word who will do what is required to achieve something that is long overdue.
Bawwak Obama was too chicken to go after the criminals who started the Iraq war and the profiteers who enriched themselves as well as the republican party.
..world should expect a large bill with a handsome gratuity added to it. I could be wrong in presuming that the direct jokes will fail; I would only imagine that possible if the Palestinians give up their fundamental, legal rights, as supported by The Quartet and the UN. If termites settled on the planks of wood which support the roof of your house (by deed), and asked you to make concessions by giving up parts of those planks -- would you do it?
if you want to move on and live in peace give up the stolen land
