An Israel Defense Forces reserves soldier, who has refused to partake in army duty to protest Israel's occupation of the Palestinian territories, has gone on hunger strike in military prison, in what he said was a show of solidarity with Palestinian administrative detainees.

I also refused to serve in the IDF, not because of the fabled "brutal occupation" but because I was called up to ethnically cleanse 10,000 Jews from Gush Katif in the summer of 2005.

Israelis can't have the land and say that there cause is righteous. Either give up the land and be moral or continue to steal the land and admit to the inhumane and immoral characteristics of the Israeli agenda. Not both it's not fair

Would that there would be more who would refuse to serve as oppressors in the occupied territories where there main purpose is to protect the settlers and to let the Palestinians know that Israel is there boss and that they had better toe the line. The IDF serves only to make life miserable for the Palestinians. Yaniv Mazor is a hero. Let others of conscience follow him.

Yeah, the alternative is better. Let the Palestinians have the land that they lost by attacking Israel and it'll be exactly like Syria - such a peaceful little country .

The Jews are engaged in a long term project of land theft and occupation. It is inappropriate to call Palestinian resistance "terrorism". Terrorism is what Israel practices. This is why Israel has killed more civilians than all the Palestinians militants combined.

Should they also go to Poland. Let me suggest you araabs go back to arabia, where you come from & stop stealing other peoples lands.

I salute the moral courage of this soldier, which reminds of an Israeli pilot which once refused to bombard palestinians in the occupied territories. This should be a shame for the so called "ethical" leaders in the israeli society or on Peres who shamelessly tries to paint himself as an Angel.
