Israeli official: Chances of Gaza ground operation 50-50

Israel should avoid ground attack and use diplomacy. Hardliners in the Muslim world are considering it as Anti-Islam War which will only aggravate the whole issue. Though Israel has the right of defense like any other country in the world but many innocent lives of women, kids and elders are at risk and stake. Egypt and Jordan can play major role in bringing peace to some extent. I hope rocket attacks and heavy weapons from Israel are stopped. One day all have to sit around the table for lasting peace so why not now?????

You are right, Israel will always revenge attacks because Hamas is a terror organisation and want the total destruction of Israel.

The is no such thing as 50- 50 with odds ; one can mix 50-50 personal feeling with the odds of reality. For an Israeli Official to say the odds of a truce for Gaza is 50-50 it plainly states he does not know. I am a jew and I hate hamas as a terrorist as a whole but that does not give me right to say Gaza has a50-50 chance for peace or war; Gaza is not Hamas it is palistinian land which Israelstood by while Hamas took it from them. I do not support Hamas and I have trying to figure out how to get to Israel to kick what ever Hamas ass I can help my fellow brother jews kick them with but cant get back there; even though I want one one the display must what is right; if there is a 10% chance for Israel to ivade Gaza it must be 100% for Israel and Ppalistine people with the same odds and standard for 10% chan e of war inside Gaza. If diplomatic resolve is looked for give it a chance not 50-50.

Under the premise that Israel has the right to defend itself against external threats/attacks, can we suppose that Sudan has the right to now attack Israel? How about Syria and Lebanon? How does one justify a "pre-emptive" strike against Iran? Extra-judical killings? Assassination of scientists, diplomats?

Let's not forget why Hamas attack Tel Aviv: In Gaza 16 Palestinians were murdered in the first 24hs, among them 6 children, baby girl Hanin Tafish of age 10 months was killed. Also, a daughter of the journalist Sami al-Ajrami, of age 10 years was injured seriously, and dozens more were injured. Yesterday, several children were murdered: Ahmed Al-Mishharawi aged 11 months, Rowan Arafat, aged three years. Hiba Al-Mishharawi, aged 5 years. A elderly man, Mahmoud Abu Alsoawin, aged 83, three civilians, Issam Mahmoud Abu Al-Maza, aged 29, Hani Mohammed, aged 20 as well as the head of the Hamas Resistance Ahmed Al-Jabari died, and that attack left dozens of passers-by injured. Hamas leaders should be indicted for war crimes, for engaging in military attacks from their population centers and thus putting civilians in danger of predictable and foreseeable counter attacks. The longer Israel refrains from further action, the more apparent Hamas' cynicism will be clear. Hamas is a one trick pony, just like Hezbollah. There one and only purpose for being is aggression toward the jewish state and identity. The best strategy I believe, is to lay an absolute siege on Gaza except food, water, medical, educational supplies, and anything else their dear oil-rich Arab Muslim brethren would care to provide them - EXCEPT ARMS. All supplies will go through Israel and U.N. inspection on Israeli soil. There will be no more Hezbollah, Iranian, Sudanese rockets going in. When Hamas peters out, then what? When they have to negotiate, what will they negotiate for? That's the question Hamas has to answer. So far they have answered it with undeviating resolve to see the destruction of the Israel, even if they have to seen every last man, woman and child in Gaza killed in the name of thier cause. That's who you're dealing with.

With the loss of over 1200 assets and counting, Hamas leaders look just as stupid as ever for instigating acts of war against Israel again and again and then getting their asses kicked again and again. Some dunces just don't want to graduate from the school of retaliatory Israeli hard knocks.

Intresting one to go into Gaza..or not? The IDF have already shown over and over the power of Israels armed forces in front of the worlds media..They are one of the best trained forces in the world and i really do think any Country in the world would love to have them to protect them or fight along side them in time of war! Hamas and these groups have a chance to Stop now and go try talk some sort of peace before it's too late! If the IDF go into Gaza, Hamas and any other groups Are Finished! and of course more people will get Hurt or get Killed,which No One Wants!
