The investigation began in spring 2010 when the BIS charged Pelogy, a U.S. based company and its Belgian affiliate, with violating U.S. export administration regulations by attempting to export controlled goods to Israel, India, China and South Africa.
According to the investigation, in the case of Israel and India, the goods could have been used to manufacture nuclear weapons and missile programs.
The charges followed a voluntary self-disclosure by the companies.
In the case of Israel, the BIS neither identified the equipment or components purchased in America nor the suspected purchaser of these goods.
No further details have been provided about the case.
It is worth mentioning that in the 1980s, regardless of Jonathan Pollards' espionage activities for Israel, Israeli companies and individuals were involved many cases of technological espionage, steeling U.S. secrets, technology and equipment.
The most outstanding case involved Milco, a U.S. based company owned by Israeli tycoon Arnon Milchan, which bought and shipped equipment with which could have also been used as triggers for nuclear weapons.

Unless Israel feels comfortable being in the same company as rogue states like North Korea and Pakistan which LIKE Israel, are NOT members of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. While Iran IS a member... Time to join the international community and enter the 21st century by signing on to the NPT.
Seems to me Israel and South Africa were stealing krytrons back in the 1970's. Read about krytrons in Wikipedia. They don't seem all that difficult to understand. Why doesn't someone make knockoffs in China and sell them legally? That way, the US is not involved and I don't have to read about how Jonathan Pollard is such a hero. He may be a hero to Israel, but the ONLY reason he is not STILL spying for Israel today is that he was an obnoxious jerk and his boss wanted to fire him. His boss knew he was taking home secrets but never would have launched a formal investigation if Pollard had been a helpful and quiet employee instead of a disruptive narcissist. Once the investigation started, Pollard was done. Google Irit Erb.
a 5 ohm resistor available at dick smith electronics is a classified component also. just depends where and how it is used.
especially the nuclear weapon arsenal is a threat to whole ME
Who or what is the Institute for Science and International Security ,where is it based and who funds it ?
This quation seems to be your only 'answer' to every critical report about Israel. Is only a Israel-friendly group allowed to investigate?
if anything really was stolen it went the other way around... the opposite way. Sounds like CIA is having tough day and someone is really milking the archives... someone who should not be there in the first place.
I'm just curious here, Miron, why would the CIA want to steal anything from Israel when it gives a minimum of 3 million US taxpayer dollars per year? Why?
When one reads Israeli companies and individuals were engaged in industrial espionage in the US, does anybody believe this was not done with the cooperation and direction of the Israeli government? Pollard was not alone in his efforts.
Any espionage that may have taken place in the 80s are not under any investigation and the current investigation is not into something Israel has done wrong its about what US companies have done so Israel has done nothing wrong. What the US does need to do is release Jonathan Pollard now.
the rest of his mdays in jail. He is lucky he was not hung. Your support for his treachery is telling.
It,s sounds like the ISIS is using 20 years old information probarbly gleaned from Jonathan Pollard to justify the Shiite madhouse,s attempts to have their own nuclear bomb?
The closing paragraphs have nothing to do with the main issue - but it's a tactic commonly used to divert attention away from it.
I wouldn't say so - Not to mention Pollards' espionage disaster much more damaging to our security was the deal between Bernard Schwartz of Loral Space & Communications Ltd. and China in the middle of '90's. Mr. Schwartz knowingly sold sensitive satellite and missile technology to China, damaging national security and got away with it. To whom else did he sell his gizmos and why was the case swept under the rug by bi-partisan commission we can only speculate but we'll never know. Money talks... ---------------------------- The most outstanding case was the purchase by a Milco, a U.S. based company owned by Israeli tycoon Arnon Milchen to buy and ship equipment with a dual use which could have also been used as triggers for nuclear weapons.
the only democracy in the middle east steals and uses our techinology to make bombs
.. they do not resell it to China and others 'friends'. You steal it, you make it cheapper and 'Voila'
Why Israel should be inspected too. Even Iran alows nuclear inspections.
Slim chance. Now if Iran were implicated, it would be breaking news on every channel.
Much like the offer to sell nuclear weapons to South Africa.
Israel has a distinct advantage in the U.S., in that it has, IN PLACE, a large indigenous pool of potential recruits spread throughout virtually every element of American defense infrastructure and research and development...AND indigenous organizations, also in place, to act as its agent, and solely on its behalf, which can easily assist in recruitment and cultivation. Meanwhile, Israel keeps up the good buddy act real well...recently even ratting out some idiot who wanted sell it secrets. Of course what doesn't make the news is that he had nothing of value to offer and was already drawing attention when he made his approach, so he was used to the greatest advantage possible...the U.S. was notified of his offer to allay suspicions of Israeli espionage in general. But all of this is not to say that Israel IS spying on the Americans, and most certainly it's NOT to say that they aren't. But it doesn't take any stretch of the imagination...considering the zealous pro-Israel sentiment among many Jewish Americans, not to mention AIPAC's intense meddling in Washington...to figure that the odds are pretty good that it IS.
Dick Chertoff then in the government who held dual Israeli/US nationality had them released without charge. Much to the anger of the CIA and FBI as they seemed to have had prior knowledge of those attacks. (They were arrested recording the event having set up their cameras two hours before the first plane hit Tower 2)
Israel has friends in alot more friends than the US defense industry. It has a network of jews worldwide who would sell out the country of their birth to help Israel. I have an ex girlfriend who was originally from the UK one day she was approached by Mossad through a friend of hers they wanted to borrow her British passport for a couple of house which she allowed them to do. So who knows one day one day there might be a Mossad agent traveling on a British passport in her name. Israel has a unique way of intelligence gathering that no other country has. The fact that Israel before Obama had very good relations with the US doesn't mean it will not put its own interests first even if it does mean betraying a friendship. All countries have the attitude that we put ourselves first and we are willing to betray friendships if its going to benefit us Israel is no unique in that sense. We All countries will take what they can from others but put themselves first thats how the system works for everybody. The US should also free Jonathan Pollard
Please tell me your not one of the 9/11 conspiracy theorists. What happened on 9/11 was exactly what we all saw on TV .. a bunch of terrorists hijacked some planes and crashed them into buildings no conspiracy, the WTC was not brought down in a controlled explosion & the Pentagon was not hit by a missile. I am sure Israel does have people from Mossad or some other agency in the US spying although not against the US itself. There are hundreds of senior palestinian terrorists living in the US and many of them in New York and it is only logical that Israel would have agents spying on them. The fact they have a camera and were filming something before the towers came down means nothing. How many thousands of people are there in New York with video cameras every single day? How many people with their cameras who was in visual range to see what was happening would have filmed what was going on... I know I would.
So you are saying that no country should trust its Jewish population since they could turn traitor at any moment. What a slippery slope you make for yourself!
Zionist Forever: "Israel has friends in alot more friends than the US defense industry. It has a network of jews worldwide who would sell out the country of their birth to help Israel." ZF, thank you for this excellent description of why Pollard is still in a US prison...thanks also for proving once again that the US and Israel are greal allies and friends. Do most Israelis think like you do?
. . . and helped guarantee an Allied victory in WWII. So people should stop complaining about Israel having nuclear weapons. Countries that are not nice to Jews will not benefit from the scientific and technological breakthroughs that Jews provide. A bit like killing the goose laying golden eggs.
What some Americans did during the Second World War entitles Israel to nothing. Or do you claim credit for Julius and Ethel, too?
As to your opinion, the Jews invent about everything, why does Israel needs espionage and the need to steal technology from other countries? To say later they invented it and gave it to the world?
But we will manage somehow.
Those were American who just hapand to ne Jews, does this gives Israel ownership? you are delusional.
Well, the ancient Indians actually invented the concept of zero, and hence the modern numbering system upon which mathematics is based. And since physics is based on mathematics, it follows then that you all (Jews, Christians, etc) owe your scientific knowledge to the ancient Indians. Following your logic....
And why can Iran, Pakistan, North Korea, etc not use that same excuse? All of those countries have had just as many "threats to their existence" as Israel has since the 70s, probably more (in the case of Iran anyway).

Do no confuse a benevolent nation like Israel with rogue, terrorist led dictatorships like Pakistan, North Korea and Iran. Even a hater like you knows there is a difference.
Pakistan is involved in the war against terror in Afghanistan Israel is conspicuous by it's absence and is trying to get the world to attack Iran on it's behalf so Israel can maintain it's dominant position as the Middles East's only nuclear power (although thats debatable, it is probable Saudi's Long March missiles are nuclear tipped). If Israel is involved in nuclear espionage then it needs to be subject to the same sanctions as Iran.
IRAN, PAKISTAN & N.KOREA (UNLIKE ISRAEL) ARE NOT PHANTOM STATES LIVING ON STOLEN LAND.
You're ironic, Chaim - right? Many characteristics may be given to Israel, but benevolent is most definitely not one of them.
Iran ,definitely a phantom state as Ahmadinejad wasn,t elected in free and fair democratic elections,Pakistan definitely a phantom state of Islamofascist tribal murderous scum answerable only to Allah,North Korea a phantom state par extraordinaire with a psychpathic ,maniacal nutcase of a tinpot dictator ruling through fear and intimidation ?
Pakistan is ruled by Islamic warlords and criminals who are answerable only to Allah ,their ISI is infested with Taliban spies and killers who report only to their tribal warlords who then pay for the information with narcotics grown in Swat and south Waziristan, try again Chris ?
Not really, Israel's politicians are not entirely squeaky clean and it would be to easy to mention Katsav, Olmert, Netanyahu and Lieberman and charges of rape and corruption. Wouldn't want to upset your sensibilities and all that.
WELL sorry to say Iran is not occupying any land, north korea is a mistake but not as bad as u guys r and Pakistan didnt lie about their WMD, they dont occupy any land..they dont kill children like u zionist do. SIMPLE AS THAT. Times r changing....u guys r again going to be ejected from some country if u guys dont stop acting like taliban neo cons and old style jews who use to suck everyone dry like u did to USA with AIPAC etc. i hope this story breaks on USA tv but well with Zionist every where working hard it would never see the light of the day
There is an incredible book about Arnon Milchan and the Milco affair that a number of Israeli publishers are refusing to publish out of fear of censorship. In Hebrew it's called "Sodot Arnon Milchan".
Was it odd that a nuclear power plant seemed to ship plutonium to Israel in the '60s? Was there anything to the rumors of Tritium being shipped from the Savannah River plant in the 1970s? Did not the masters of Vela turn an eye far more blind than the satellite had to the test off South Africa? The Eisenhower administration might have opposed proliferation to Israel, but not enough to stop it. All US governments since have functioned with a nod and wink.
In 1980, the federal indictment asserted, Smyth and Milco sent 610 krytrons to Israel without the necessary licenses, plus another 200 in 1982. The 1985 indictment identified the Israeli buyers of the nuclear triggers as Heli Trading Ltd. and Milchan Brothers, two of Milchan's Israel-based companies. Announcement of the indictments came four days after the Israeli Defense Ministry, reacting to news of the grand jury probe, admitted that it had the devices, known as krytrons. In 2002 he was arrested in Spain and extradited to US where he pleaded guilty.
Israel invented nuclear technology, or Jews did, but that's semantics. The companies in question are Israeli companies sharing Israeli technology. If not for Jews, the US would not have rockets, missiles, nuclear technology, a space program, the internet, tech messaging, GPS, and much more so what we do with the technology WE invent is our business. The US is lucky we Jews passed it on to them or the US would have lost WW2.
have given their Jewish citizens the opportunity to conduct research at their universities, paid by these countries' taxpayers. Without that there would have been NO Jewish contributions to science.
it's the nature of the art. Besides, why do you think the sharing should be exclusive to US? Iranian people need to warm up and lighten up there homes no more! What good is in blocking nations from attaining mastering of atom? What good can be if Ibrahim has to read at candle and John can read at a shining 100WT lamp? What good if Aisha can not get in operating room because there is no electricity and Kathrin can get Caesarian dialing in on cell phone "with foot massage, pretty please"? May be Ahamadinejad is a freak of nature who will tomorrow promise to wipe of the map of his body own penis? Shell Israel call in reinforcements? Might it be he is a dimwit who talks idiocy day in and day out, why should Iranian suffer for it with lack of basic necessities? Would it not be better for Iran and Israel if Israelis helped Iran to make nuclear energy production safer and better? And with great minds and resources isn’t it Israel’s responsibility to make it so? Would it not be as great a gift as we did for US in WWII hour a gift of better cures of cancer of which Iranians suffer just like Americans and Israelis? This can not be done without nuclear technology. Are there risks in opening up know how in these areas? OF COURSE! Are there potential troubles on the horizon? Once those Iranians who hate Israel no matter what will ( no doubt about that ) try to bring in Israel all kinds of flotillas... and it will happen no matter who says what. But there will be a day of reckoning. And what will Israel have to say on that day? We didn't give it to Iranians because Ahmadinejad said a few words our proud Jewish tribe could not tolerate and we run the stage?
Jews have contributed more in all fields of science, medicine, technology per ratio than any other ethnic group. Before Americans Israel was the start of the Judeo Christian ethos.
in the 'people who read this article also read...' section is an article entitled "Netanyahu: Iran is the ultimate terrorist threat today". so iran cannot have nuclear weapons, but israel totally can. without having to comply with pesky investigators or regulations. why, a reasonable person might ask? who cares! they're ~*~The Chosen People~*~! who needs international law when you have g-d on your side, eh?
You know...Everybody have learnt until now, that only Israel have the right of self-defencein the Middle -East ...whatever it will coast to the millions of civilian people in the surrounding countries.

When a progrssive secular democratic country has Islamic dictators and tribal warlords ruling through fear and religious fervour ,right next door ,well then yes it must have a strong deterrent ,sorry for you Palestinian Anne?
Why is the author of this article inserting biased, and unsupported opinion and breaking journalistic standards?
what did the author say that was unsupported or not a fact? clarify.
A declassified 1978 GAO report showed the diversion of weapons grade US nuclear material to Israel. NUMEC run by Zalman Shapiro was the front company that did it. So much for your delusion that any of this is unsupported.
Everything the author said was factually right. You want to tag him ANTISEMITIC as usual????
