Israel government denies cyber-attack, says malfunction brought down websites
Websites of IDF, Mossad, Shin Bet security service and government ministries crash following hacking group's threat to retaliate for Gaza flotilla interception.
By Oded YaronThe Israeli government denied on Sunday that a cyber-attack was the reason several websites went down, including those of the IDF, Mossad, Shin Bet security service and government ministries. IDF spokesman said there was most likely a malfunction with the servers.
The government Facebook page posted a message saying: "Due to a systematic malfunction of the (government website system's) servers, some of the government websites and services have not been accessible in the last few hours." Carmela Avner, head of the government website system, said that "this is a technical problem that is being handled by all relevant means and all resources are being used …to fix the problem."

The websites' crash came after the international cabal of hackers known as Anonymous threatened a cyber-attack on the Israeli government’s computers in response to its interception of a Gaza-bound flotilla on Friday.
In a video that was uploaded to YouTube, Anonymous warns that if the siege on Gaza is maintained, it will have no choice but to go on the attack.
Anonymous said that if the siege continues and Israeli forces intercept additional flotillas, or if they conduct additional operations such as the commandeering of the Mavi Marmara, it will have no alternative but to launch repeated cyber-attacks on Israeli computer systems until the siege ends.

I didn't u think u people would be so gullible. If u think Israel security websites were hacked into by this so called anonymous then u got another thing coming to you.
barking israeli dogs cause no harm biting iranian dogs do
empty israeli vessels make the most sound
put a sock in it u are turning the country into a world wide laughing stock if theres nothing sensible to say say nothing
the more I believe the sites were really actually hacked.
When their lips are moving.
my offer of a spare anti virus licence has just been taken up by some fellow called anonymous think he doesnt want the israeli government to get it
Of course it was a malfunction, just like Janet Jacksons' robe malfunction at the super ball that exposed her breast. This "malfunction" is putting Israel's pride in the toilet.
Wow, so cool with those ridiculous masks. Looks like every misfit in earth has been drawn to this. Get a life, you clowns.
It's credibility in small matters. It long ago lost credibility in large matters.
Well they would do wouldn't they. Isolating Israel from the British invented Worldwide Web would be a major coup for Anonymous.
if u warned of an attack, and ur systems go down, best not say anything to deny an attack just brings peals of disbelieving laughter
hackers say they are going to attack, the sites go down but its a malfunction like everything israel says it just stretches the credulity
....things like this should never happen. mabee israel should look for the right staff which is able to defend its interests instead of threatening other countries. look what a blamage this is going to be for israel.......
We often hear Israeli Jews tell us how brilliant they are as a tribe. They need to say this a lot because the facts point in the opposite direction. Sure there have been some brilliant Jews, just as every group has brilliant individuals. As a tribe though, Israel struggles to achieve average results. Having said this, there are none better in the art of spin, misdirection, and propaganda.
The Youtube channel that published the alleged message from Anonymous does not represent Anonymous. At all. Nowhere on any of the major Anon outlets (AnonOps twitter for example) does it mention this. This action is simply by some idiot with a political agenda to push, unrelated to anonymous.
...anonymous will distance itself in a statement! if they dont well...
DNs attacks are hard to protect from, ask SONY...and many others. Maybe IRAN is anonymous LOL.
Just because it wasn't a "major sect" of Anonymous does not mean it was not orchestrated by them. Everyone and anyone is anonymous, not just AnonOps, LulzSec, AntiSec, etc...If this wasn't them you'll see a message stating so.
Look closer man. Start with @Anon_Central on Twitter. 50,000 followers and tweets about this op, should give u a hint.
any amateur could do it.
....
But what's Israel's military prowess (or lack of) got to do with internationals crashing Israeli government websites? Not a lot to be honest.
