IDF to reduce reservists' routine security duties if budget cuts pass
A cut of about NIS 1.5 billion to this year’s defense budget has been agreed on with the government, along with a NIS 3 billion cut for next year. This would be followed by a gradual increase over four years.
The Israel Defense Forces is preparing to cancel routine security duties in the reserves and training for most reserve units this year due to the cuts to the 2013-14 defense budget. Defense officials say they still hope to get the government to reconsider the cuts.
