IDF pushing to indict 'Jenin, Jenin' director for libel

I hope that the IDF movie-it is a better occupation for IDF making movies than what it did currently-will put in parallel Israeli soldiers versions with those of Palestinians from Jenin and with Bakri film.

Lock up everybody who dares tell the truth. That seems to be where the real Israel is heading to...

The courts have done their work and reached their conclusion. You may not like the result, but the IDF putting pressure on Weinstein to pervert the justice system is particularly obnoxious in view of the large number of films and documentaries that have presented a distorted view and even lied about Palestinians and their history. The IDF made a serious error in keeping foreign journalists out of Jenin and they got what they deserved - with no independent observer the public is left with the perceptions of the victims on one side and the perceptions of the military on the other. But people use their own intelligence (and biases) to assess such information and to arrive at their own conclusions. Jenin is history now. Bakri has been pursued with boycott and civil suits - enough is enough. Re-opening the story in the way proposed by the IDF will not change anyone's opinion - it will only be perceived as another example of an increasingly illiberal democracy's attempts to silence critics. Let us hope that Weinstein cares enough for Israel to stop this nonsense.

Desperation......

A Palestinian director's supposedly non-fictional account of the IDF's Jenin operation against terrorists mixed with his malice and acrid "artistic license" to smear Israel should receive the just reward from an Israeli court of law... a huge fine and a lengthy jail term where other prisoners will make him wish he had chosen another profession in life instead.
