Hebron on high alert before Hamas rally
The wave of violence in the West Bank that began with last month's Operation Pillar of Defense continued Thursday, with clashes in Hebron between young Palestinians and Israel Defense Forces troops following Salima's funeral.
The Israel Defense Forces and police are on high alert in Hebron Friday ahead of a planned rally marking the 25th anniversary of the founding of Hamas. A senior police officer told Haaretz that the alert called both because Hebron is a Hamas stronghold and anger over Wednesday's fatal shooting by a Border Policewoman of 17-year-old Mohammed Salima.
