Hamas vows revenge after Israel kills commander in Gaza strike
Palestinian witnesses report one dead and 13 injured in heaviest strike on Hamas-linked targets since Operation Cast Lead, as Israel retaliates for rocket attack on Ashkelon.
By Barak Ravid, Avi Issacharoff, Shlomo Shamir, Haaretz Service and News Agencies Tags: Israel news GazaHamas on Saturday vowed revenge after one of its senior commanders was killed in Israeli air strikes on Hamas-linked targets in the Gaza Strip on Friday night.
"This new stupidity won't easily pass. We promise revenge for the blood of our martyr," the al-Qassam Brigades said in a leaflet faxed to reporters.

The Hamas operative, a 40-year-old member of Hamas' military wing, was killed in an explosion near the Nuseirat refugee camp south of Gaza City in the center of the Hamas-controlled strip. Another 13 Palestinians were hurt.
The dead man is believed to be Issa al-Batran, a commander of Hamas forces in the central Gaza region.
Batran, thought to have been involved in manufaturing rockets, has been the target of a number of Israeli assassination attempts, the most recent of which, in January, killed wife and five children.
The strikes on Gaza, which Palestinian sources described as the heaviest since Operation Cast Lead, Israel's two-week assault on the Gaza Strip a year and a half ago, came after a rocket fired from the Palestinian territory exploded in the city of Ashkelon earlier in the day.
The National Resistance Committee, a group which supports the Hamas government in Gaza, claimed reposnsbility for the rocket attack, Israel Radio reported on Saturday.

Later in the day, the IDF shot at and wounded two Palestinians near the Erez crossing on Gaza border after they ignored warnings to retreat, the broadcaster said.
The Israel Defense Forces confirmed the air-strike, which the army said targeted a Hamas-linked site in the northern Gaza Strip, a weapons-manufacturing warehouse in the central Gaza Strip and a weapons-smuggling tunnel in the southern Gaza Strip.
Earlier Friday, Israel lodged a complaint to the United Nations about rocket and mortar attacks launched from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel.
A Grad-type rocket fired by Palestinian militants in Gaza struck close to an apartment building in a residential area of Ashkelon on Friday morning, while two mortar shells exploded in the western Negev just a few hours later.
"These recent attacks on southern Israel from the Gaza Strip seriously violate international law and should be adequately addressed and condemned by the international community," Israel's ambassador to the UN Gabriela Shalev wrote in a letter to UN chief Ban ki-Moon. "In response to the escalating threat of terrorism, Israel will exercise its right of self-defense and will continue to take all necessary measures to protect its citizens."
Shalev wrote that the attacks highlighted the dangers emanating from the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.
The Katyusha rocket hit the populated neighborhood just after 8:30 A.M., causing some damage to the nearby building and to a number of parked cars. There were no casualties in the incident, but at least two people were treated for shock. Residents said that the Color Red rocket alert sounded prior to the explosion.
At around 12:30 P.M., two mortar shells hit the Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council.
The Israeli military believes that Hamas was not responsible for the Grad attack and that the Islamist organization which controls the Gaza Strip is not interested in escalating tensions in the area, Army Radio reported.
The attack on Ashkelon was one of the first to strike the city after months of quiet since Israel launched a three week military campaign against Hamas in the Gaza Strip in late 2008, called Operation Cast Lead in Israel.
"No doubt this is the most serious event that happened since Operation Cast Lead," Ashkelon mayor Benny Vaknin told Israel Radio. The city is located about 12 km (7 miles) up the coast from the Gaza Strip and has some 125,000 residents.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement from his office: "Israel takes the firing on Ashkelon very seriously."
While rocket fire has continued since the devastating war, much of it has targeted smaller towns closer to the border. Four Qassam rockets and two mortar shells were fired at Israel last weekend, none of them causing any casualties as they hit open areas of the western Negev.
Israel often carries out strikes against smuggling tunnels or outposts of Hamas after such attacks.
No group in Gaza claimed responsibility for the rocket fire. Hamas has said it is trying to stop militants from firing at Israel, but smaller groups have continued the attacks.

which was proven by IDF in a few accidents in Gaza, does it then allow Hamas to strike the whole Israel? I bet most will not agree with that, right?
pals have -the right- to fight occupation and -they- are entitled to self-defense unless Israel occupy WB and block Gaza this is just a propaganda joke, better to stay silence than exercise this kind of dumb arrogance in the international arena oh...I forgot Lieberman is the actual FM, what else could we espect from him
The UN is the most corrupt, wasteful enterpriseand basically a bad joke at resolving anything beyond their own free parking in NY. Israel lodging anything with them is as good as DOA...
This is absolutely the right approach. if there is no reaction from the UN then Israel should demand the matter be brought before an emergency session of the Security Council. Firing rockets at civilians is a war crime and Hamas should be held accountable. Whatever Israel does it should not take the bait and launch a counter attack - do not take the bait.
The Israelis have put the Palestinians in Gaza in a difficult situation. Of course, as israel reminds us all the time, they have a right to self defence....and of course, I assume Israelis don't believe this right is exclusive to Jews. The Palestinians too have a right to self defence. Given the comprehensive seige Israel has laid on Gaza, it stands to reason, that this rocket attack is an act of self defense, since after all, the balance of power so firmly in israel's hands, it is not as if they could target those responsible for the seige...that would be the cowards who run the country. Again...a very sad situation. Can we ever forgive the Israelis for forcing the Paelstinians to do conduct these attacks?
So can we just send some rockets into gaza?
Firing a rocket at an apartment building is not an act of self defence - it is a war crime. You treat the Palestinians like children that are not responsible for their actions - how condescending. Stop the rockets, stop the terrorist attacks and make peace - is that so difficult to understand? Despite your so called siege an indoor shopping mall just opened in Gaza, and Israel continues to supply them with electricity and water. For an example of a real siege go back to the siege of the Jewish residents of Jerusalem by Britain and Jordan in the War of Independence.
A more sadistic, Anti-Israel, Anti-Jewish group you will not find.
understand, for the sake of the tired Gaza's population, the palestinian cause and to obtain theier state, it's imperative to stop the rocketing, to be more moderate and reunite with their Fatah-brothers.Without compromises it's very difficult to score.
Haven’t I read in the past few weeks about IDF firing into Gaza and killing civilians and Israeli planes/drones dropping bombs damaging essential Gaza infrastructure and factories? Aren’t Gazans suffering and dying due to the restrictions on medical care, medication and population movement? Doesn’t Gaza have a right of self defence or does that only apply to Israel? But the Gazans are targeting civilians!!!! Really what targeting devices do these primitive projectiles have? Allow Gazans weapons that can be accurately targeted and I bet they will target your military. But who does have sophisticated weaponry that can be accurately targeted? Why the same side that is notching up all the civilian kills, go figure!!?? I don’t know why I’m writing this post as Israelis are too busy fixing their dented building to listen to reason.
How Israel, which most violates resolutions, has the self-respect to file a complaint to the UN, about refugees from 1948, who suffered a lot for the past 60 years or so, and still causes inhumane torture... Israel for real is a laughing joke, so do the Israelis who pethatically support that stupid government of theirs... So self-respect. Next time, those militants should fire flowers lol
I think it's important that these images get out to the public. The anti-Israel writers can't stand it, and their humorous responses to try to explain away the crisis that doesn't exist is hilarious. So here again are pictures of Gaza taken by the Palestinians themselves, so they cannot claim it's Israeli propaganda. Here they are: http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A//www.paltoday.com/arabic/News-64161.html&hl=en&langpair=auto|en&tbb=1&ie=windows-1256
85% of population depends on UN and other organizations. I guess you are a commie because you love to live on big brother's money. maybe you are from US, but in US we do not live like that. We work for our money and we are allowed to make money. I guess you are so used to shop at Walmart it is like high level store for you - well, what else can one get on welfare....
Never has the UN ever issued a single Resolution condemning rocket/mortar attacks against Israel. Even though each attack on civilians is a "war crime". Proof Positive of UN bias against Israel. The UN will set up a commission to investigate a staged flotilla incident, where all video's clearly prove the terrorists on the 6th ship instigated it. But ignore thousands of "war crimes' committed against Israel. With 57 of the 192 member nations at the UN being Muslim don't look for much action from the UN.
Hundreds of missiles fell on Sderot, yet there was no complaint to the UNSC. Why complain now?
Mother-in-law attacked while preparing Friday Coos Coos!
in Istanbul and their Turkish govt lackey Edrogan are thinking, if they think at all.
columnist.
If they want the world on their side they really need to stop these acts of violence towards Israel. They can complain all they want regarding the conditions there but if you keep playing with fire you are eventually going to get burned.
has lot of opinions
Oh my!
UN has blind eyes, too, when it comes to attacks on Israeli civilians.
Welcome to civilized World.
They were rotten fruits and vegetables because, after all, everyone knows if Hamas wants the Israeli inspections stopped, it's not to smuggle arms, it's to get fresh produce.
The Palestinians have a few.
They attacked us for launching rockets at them! Whaaaaa!
And that is pretty much all they do except of course for launching provocations and obstructing the peace process. They whine, complain, launch rockets and terrorist attacks and always fail to take responsibility for their actions. It really is time they grew up and started to behave like a people deserving a state.
with grievances while it ignores over 200+ resolutions. Israel should be embarrassed and the UN should ignore any and all complaints until Israel complies. End the illegal occupation, take your settlers back to the 67 lines and bring your illegal wall with you.
I am sorry Reuben, who rejected partition and why? Maybe you can enlighten us.
Israel is finally starting to play the same game.
Reuben K makes a very valid point. Israel's complaint will not be welcomed or addressed by the UN. While going through the formality of submitting it is warrented, Israel needs to take other means to protect its civilian population. As Reuben K points out -- the UN will address (and has 200+ times) the Palestinain complaints, but not those submitted by Israel.
Likely a small group trying to stop any peace talks but Israel has settlers trying to stop freeze by attacking Palestinians if IDF destroys a building.
So basically, it is some small faction. Which makes blokade of Gaza even less legit. Just like any terrorist out there. We did not nuke Saudis because of 9/11.
See the difference?
..... bomb its neighbours via some "small factions" ? Yeah? Say thank you I didn't make you idiot.
HAMAS need to act against these small groups if they seek peace, alternatively, change their charter maybe?
We took action against government that openly supported Al Qaeda. If Hamas had nothing to do with rockets and actually IDF seems to be saying they are probably fighting these groups anyway what is the excuse to bomb governemnt building in Gaza then? get your facts straight
If government does not support the actions of some terrorist you can not punish the government. Let's see evidence Hamas is not trying to destroy all these other smaller groups. Never seen one. They are not into sharing power.
This is a recording.
Meanwhile, Israel negotiated peace with Egypt and Jordan. Varying Arab countries told Arafat to take Barak's offer when it was available. Clearly, it's the Palestinians who don't want the peace. Anti-Israelis are morons. This fool is so out-to-lunch, he's blaming it all on Israel while this story is about a rocket attack against Israel.
negotiations , this bothers Hamas who has dreams of throwing the Jew into the sea. Lets face it peace would kill Hamas, after all they hate Abbas/PLO and Israel. think of all the Malls that could be built, think of women smoking water pipes, etc, why would Hamas want that.
So who started all the previous wars involving Israel?
Be careful of what you wish for. In the next one all your beloved arabs will pay a stiff price. Are you willing to take t he responsibility?
Perhaps P.M Netanyahu might call his British counterpart, Cameron, and ask him how one should respond? And while at it, he might also ask his counterparts in the U.S.A., Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and France.
I would love to meet you so that we can go over a few things.
zzzzzzzzzz
Ignore the buffoon. His intelligence is limited to calling his more learned superiors anti-semitic.
there must be an end to this madness. no other country would endure rocket attacks on a regular basis as long as israel has. its so sad. its time for global intervention on a large military scale or a full israelli invasion to stop these rocket attacks. lets all agree to stand for no more of this wickedness.
or Mickey Mouse firework attack?
So the reactionaries come out in full force. Clearly this is an attempt by Hamas or its allies to stir up Israeli public opinion to denounce the direct negotiations supported by the Arab League and maintain the current status flow. There is nothing unpredictable about this violent act. Most likely Israel will respond in it's predictable way and the talks will fall apart even before they start. The closest ally the Israeli right has is Hamas. They could always depend on them to do something that will help the right sustain their political goals.
Yet "The Israeli military believes that Hamas was not responsible for the Grad attack and that the Islamist organization which controls the Gaza Strip is not interested in escalating tensions in the area" What gives you more insight as to who is involved than the IDF?
My auntie's place was bombed. She's not religious. Does it matter what her religion is?
In Democracy it is called Freedom of expression
Freedom of expression works both ways. An anti-Semite spews a bunch of lies, and those who read those lies can point out that the anti-Semite spewed a bunch of lies.
off of buildings. Still in Tivoli Gardens eh, Tony.
For such a person as you are,.... Freedom of expression works selectively: - Any anti-semitic lie is acceptable for you. - Any objrction to this lie is "a Zionist Propaganda"
Islamic Jihad... vying for the Guinness world record. Try it in your own backyard... fire a Grad rocket... post a video on My Space. It’s easy... just run around in pajamas and target a population center. No to worry, this is what peace looks like.
Mickey Mouse firework called "rockets".as israeli answer is remorseless lethal.
I've told you several times, you should sit on one of those Mickey Mouse rockets and see how it feels.
Israel is lucky those rockets only killed 35-40 people over the years. Hamas is to be congratulated for those mickey mouse rockets Todays attack was only property damage oh well. I wonder what would happen in Copenhagen, if Hamas hit Tivoli, As for me if you shot at my house I would remorselessly retaliate and be as lethal as possible.
You must look at intent to judge the morality of actions. Palestinian intent: kill civilians and terrorize population; Israel's intent: prevent rocket fire into civilian populations by targeting those who fire them and their factories.
1) Israel had been training Fatah before the Hamas election, and for many years, It had nothing to do with overthrowing Hamas. 2) The facts are, in both intifada, Palestinians killed other Palestinians at a higher rate than Israel killed Palestinians. So your statement of Israel killing "far more civilians" is simply wrong. According to the BBC Doha debate held on March 15, 2010 seen here: http://www.dohadebates.com/debates/specials.asp# 1,436 Palestinians have been killed BY Palestinians in their current Civil War between Hamas and Fatah. But nobody seems to care when Muslims kill Muslims.
What about our children school will begin soon in Ashkelon in about a months time and the schools here still can not accomedate all the children in bomb shelters. They need to stay in the classrooms and go under their desks is that going to protect them if the rocket falls through the roof of the school???? Our prime minister needs to take this serious and stop letting these terorists rule our cities and the lives of our children. I never taught when I decided to make Aliya to Israel that I would be in the middle of a war zone and have to flee my home because my children are fightened... It is time we all stand up against these terroists.
Where is Erdogan?
... blocade makes no sense at all.
One of two things. While they are looking like crap, demand that they release Shalit and/or summon Haniyeh like a dog to direct talks to negotiate a ceasefire. As long as Hamas continues to look like crap and Israeli citizens are kept safe, then whatever Israel does is most likely okay. Got to think ahead. I care about all people but Israeli citizens should come first. I don't care about terrorists. Terrorists can go to hell.
Do members of Irgun count? Do members of Mossad who planned the attacks on British and American buildings in Cairo in 1954 count as terrorists?
Before the Irgun, there were 15 years of Jews being slaughtered.
It's amazing reading some of these posts. The justifications that have been made about Gaza and how the blockade has been the source of these rockets is naive at best. The constant mention of occupied land, and how it's the Israeli's fault. The mention that we like Jews, but the elected Gov't of the people living in Israel is racist. These are the same arguments being mentioned repeatedly and never does the argument have any true thought process. I've read that one rocket isn't enough to cause a retaliation. My question to that is how many rockets is allotted to start a war? What if one rocket is fired and someone dies? What if one rocket is fired and destroys a house? What about the family? Are they in the IDF? What if they're people sympathizing with Palestinians? Are they SOL? The occupation. The UN which is a global entity deemed it alright to return this land to a group of people while others were displaced. We can go on and on about who started what. We could talk about what happened in the past and we can speculate about the future. Fact remains that at present, Israel has returned the west bank and Gaza. This cant be denied regardless of the reason and as stated as fact from within this article and the photo posted, rockets are still being fired. Lastly, the Gov't. Hamas was elected by the people and as stated on these boards and paraphrased as "should be treated as a legitimate government." Bibi, regardless as having the majority of the vote to be placed as PM is a delegitmate individual who only harbors resentment. Also, to those screaming the flotilla was unfair blah blah blah, try asking yourself about cause and effect. Cause-You shoot rockets into towns. Effect-You get blockaded.
please read the latest B'Tselem report on the settlements in the West Bank. I would also encourage you to take a trip to Hebron and speak with some Palestinians about the settlers. Speak with the settlers as well. Israel has not "returned" anything. I don't know where you get this idea. Ask yourself if Israel would ever expect these terms? Israel controls nearly all the resources in and out of Gaza. Electircity is supplied by the Ashkelon power plant. Israelis love to speak about how much we "give" them, but we give them electricity because we destroyed their power plant. 80% of the water resources in the WB are allocated to the settlements. Check out a map of the WB. Israel controls 42% of the WB, and is building settlement on private Palestinian land, and it openly admits this practice.
People like you make me sick. Why do you stay in Ashkelon when you obviously love the Palestinians so much more than your fellow Jews. You shouldn't be living in Ashkelon. You should be living with the Palestinians you love so much. Does Ashkelon have an olympic size swimming pool? Gaza does. Gaza also has a brand new shopping mall. The markets in Gaza put the Ashkelon market to shame. There are more hungry Jewish children in the whole of Israel than there are Palestinian children in Gaza. Get your facts right and learn that B'Tselem are 100% biased against Israel and in favour of the Palestinians.
After being under rocket fire for 8 years?
rockets at towns and cities, they have direct negotiations for peace.
You're right civilized people allow their own people to be mercilessly attacked and killed. After all we have to respect other peoples ideologies such as the Palestinians that Jews should be pushed into the sea or Hamas who does not recognize Israels right to exist. Yes, we should not fight back but allow another holocaust.
Have you even been under missle attack? Gunfire? Have you ever witnessed violent death or injury of a loved one? I can tell you, hon, it will make even liquid nitrogen in your veins boil.
The touching photos of Gaza children flying kites on the beach shows the two smokestacks of Ashdelon's Rotenberg electric generating plant which suppies much of Gaza's power. What kind of morons launch rockets in the direction of the very thing keeping them alive? I say pull the plug on Gaza for about 2 weeks now, and every time a similar missile is launched. I think the decent Gazan people will soon figure out what needs to be done..
God Bless The IDF!
When ever someone in Gaza or Ramallah talks about peace with Israel (Abbas this week) some of his local friends will protest by bombing civilians in Israel. Now that's a real Islamic 'Peace Protester'.
They killed a 42 year mother a few weeks back who went outside to bring in her child.
The Palestinians have also killed people with their rockets this year. Imagine if they stopped firing them, piggy.
who were the other 51 people? context please.
the same number of Gazans in retaliation? Stop attacks on Israel that give her the right to retaliate and no one will die.
We often hear Israelis whining about how narrow and small Israel is. The Gaza strip is only 6km wide at its narrowest point. An addition to this there is a 'zone' of 300 metres in which any person entering will be shot. Often people outside the zone are also shot for being near it. 30% of Gazan agricultural land is out of bounds because of the buffer zone.
The Palestinians have also killed people with their rockets this year.
Wehn I left my house this morning, the faint sound of the Code Red was heard and I ran back inside, not fast enough (32 seconds) to find cover. Seconds later, a huge expolsion rocked my house and rattled my windows setting off car alarms and minor panic from the many out-of-town guests in a nearby full hotel. These missiles are far cries from firecrackers and bottlerockets and if you haven't lived thru attacks of them, don't shrug them off as nothing. You don't have that right; sadly, I do. And don't complain about the poor Palestineans to me...complain to Hamas, if you have the guts.
I didn't hear the Color Red as I'm deaf and my beeper wasn't activated. I feel the explosions through the floor though. But even if I had heard it I have no safe place to go.
My fellow Israelis, These rocket attacks are meant, by a few extremists, to derail the new potential peace initiativ. They don't care about their own people and they don't even care whether their primitive rockets explode or NOT, as is usally the case. These attacks then give an excuse for our few right wing short sighted politicians to revive and escalate a violent military response and thus fulfill their perpetuated agenda to stall or abandon any movement toward peace. Long term peace for the people of Israel, despite all its gains, is of no interest to them. WE the MANY must keep perspective, keep focused on the larger picture, the greater goal, of peace for us and for generations to come. What to do? Do something! Lets stop the cycle now! Let the many lead the lesser few. Lets raise the bar of maturity and vision and inform our political short sighted few to adopt the same course and simply move aside. We need to aim higher than rockets. i already have a email letter off to Bibi, Peres, and Barak. Livni is next.
They continued rockets attacks in spite of seiz3 fire. Only after 2008 Israel's operation they mostly stoped the attacks. Now they are checking again if Israel is serious in protecting its citizen. The sooner IDF will confirm this to Pals the better.
It's abundantly clear that the hate Israel club is at it again. Will they also tell Hamas to stop firing rockets into israel? More importantly, will they stop them from doing so with their lives on the line? I thought so.
that someone has decided to post in my name. It doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to work out who it is. Obviously a lowly person who feels so aggrieved that they would attempt to discredit me. Now who have I humiliated, who hasn't been sniffing around for a few days..???
May be before your time, but Paul Newman threw a party when he found out he was on Nixon's enemies list.
While the rocket was fired at Ashkelon, I think it was aimed at the Palestinian public, reminding them of Hamas' often repeated claims that Abbas will get nothing for his diplomacy, and that "resistance" is the way to deal with Israel in order to get real results. So far, Hamas has been proven right: The First Intifada (starting in late 1987) was the first time military Hamas appeared on the scene, and the result was that Israel went to Oslo. The Second Intifada got Israel to leave Gaza. What will result from the Third Intifada? "The future's not ours to see", but that nothing will come out of diplomatic dealings with Netanyahu is quite clear. The man is so weak that he can't even get his government to continue settlement construction freeze. As for the rest, "Que sera, sera; Whatever will be, will be".
The rocket fire also brought Cast Lead. See the point, Logios? The rocket fire also brought Cast Lead, idiot.
The WB residents have tasted the early fruits of peaceful coexistence with Israel and are looking for more. The cooperation and security cooperation are on the rise. People in Gaza are not stupid and no doubt would love to have the similar improvements as their WB brethren but Hamas will not let them. Hamas will do occasional irritating moves like this one but they do not want to provoke a serious confrontation. So no more indifadas.
"The rocket fire also brought Cast Lead." - SDHD And you forgot to say that the Second Intifada caused more than 4,000 Palestinians to die, many more than in Cast Lead. But the Palestinians want a state, and this exacts a price. Apparently, they believe the price is acceptable, because rockets continue even today. Unlike you, most people will not be satisfied with an active criminal on the loose just because he suffered punishment in the past. Now, let me first congratulate you for trying to put some content into your post, although the result is not so good. What can you do if God did not grant you good equipment up there? The way for you to improve is to refrain from using foul language, so I and others will bother to respond to you and try to upgrade whatever you have. In any case, keep on with the "content" mission and perhaps it will work. Knock wood.
And where are all the other left-wing dupes howling about this war crime?
Goldstone was a vociferous and ardent opponent of Apartheid, at personal risk of himself and his family. I respectfully suggest you get your basic facts right before spouting off.
And sentence Africans to death under apartheid laws. What courage.
Obviously Hebrew U didn't know the full measure of this man. But what does that have to do with what is going on now? The time for scum like him to speak out is now, when the rockets are flying into Israeli communities, not when Israel is finally driven to responding.
What do you know. There are pro peace and anti peace factions within the Palestinian community. Such a thing could never happen in Israel. This is a simple reminder. If you want to make peace with your enemy, then you must talk to your enemy. Making peace with the enemy of your enemy is not quite the same thing. Two things should be remembered (1) Israel armed and trained Fatah members in an attempt to overthrown the democratically elected government of the Palestinians. (2) Israel kills far more civilians than all the Paloestinian militants combined.
Hamas is in full control of everything that happens in Gaza which is not occupied by ISrael. hamas knows it cannot get in any licks without eliciting a full response from ISrael. It learned its lessons last time. ZSo it allows others to do its work, its called proxies or ratyher useful idiots. And while a number of civies died ion Cast lead, please do tell us all exactly how many were as a result of hamas using them as shields, using them in their homes as firing bases . Please at least try very harfd to be fair natalie. I know how much yiou hate ISrael and jews, but at least give teh semblance of trying.
Is a woman devoid of sex. Get a man, Durson.
All true, but more rocket fire from Gaza is the wrong way for the Palestinians to go no matter what the provocation. They have to channel Mandela or Ghandi.
you are an anti semite bigot wearing a pointy white hate in america
Two things should be remebered: 1. Natallie Dura hates Israel 2. All she writes about Israel is BS
It appears Natallie that you're sitting on your brains. If you would have studied history, your comment to Ha'aretz would have been much more intelligent. I therefore suggest that you first learn about the peace opportunities the Palestians were on a multitude of occasions presented with, and turning each one of them down because they prefer to live in misery than living in peace. Thus until such a time that you present a more educated commentary, please Natallie, stay in your corner and keep sucking your thumb, for that is what 3 year old children like to do.
Oh wait. You are a chosen one.You can.
of the Palestinians for launching a rocket against a center of civilian population. But you did condemnIsrael for killing Palestinian civilians. Therre is a difference between the two, Natalie, apparently too slight for your blindered eyes to notice: When Palestinians are killed by Israeli forces, they were not the target; they got killed b ecause this is what happens in war (haven't you seen the series "Pacific" on Okinawa?). B ut the Palestinians fire missiles and bombs with the express purpose of killing Israeli civilians. Is it too much to demand of you tocondemns the malign purposes of Hamas or whoever it was who fired the missile and the mortar shells?
You wrote: "There are pro peace and anti peace factions within the Palestinian community. Such a thing could never happen in Israel." Questions: 1. Please name one peace organisation in the PA or any of the Arab states? 2. Please reconcile your claim that no peace movement could arise in Israel with the following facts: Shalom Achshav is just one of several Israeli organizations advocating peace with the arab population of the West Bank and Gaza. Shalom Achshav adovcates the transfer of all disputed territories to the arab residents currently occupying these areas.
The fact that Hamas was elected does not make it legitimate entity since it recognized as a terrorist organization by both the US and the EU. Secondly, right after it got elected, Hamas tried to disassemble the PA administration bodies and integrate their defense forces into its own militia.
You're right. There isn't a terror organization launching rockets indiscriminately into Palestinian areas.
Everything that happens in the Mid-east is somehow Israels fault. (1) Hamas and their Ilk in gaza fire more rockets into Israel than Israel does into gaza it just happens to be that Israel has more accurate weapons which to you is a crime. 2 You can't expect Israel to lift the siege and blockade aas long as Gazans fire rockets at it and call for its destruction. 3 You spout ed a few lies about Israel training fatah to over throw hamas which yes was elected. Hamas got in control Fatah didn't like it so they had a mini civil war ita that simple. Yes Hamas was elected by the palestinians in a fair manner. The palestinians voted for a party that has a mandate for the destruction of Israel yet they expect good treatment by the Israel governemt they can't have it both ways!!!
Anti-Israelis are morons.
I have been reading your hate-filled diatribes since the days of Clickfool, Indrajaya. and the rest. What feeds this hatred for a nation of industrious, decent people who have suffered so much? You offer nothing but bile from your heart. Go to your bed and think before you spew this filth. I have never haerd a constructive comment from you. Are you SAtan?
OK Natalie. But if the vessel with the pestle is in the chalice in the palace, and the the pellet with the poison has the brew that is true. How do you account for the FLAGON with the DRAGON? Ehhh? Got Ya!
indiscriminately firing missles into heavily populated civilian area and purposely targeting civilians." -Dinstein - former president of Tel Aviv Univ.
Natalie reminds me of that bully that alot of us encountered when we grew up, they would make fun of you no matter what you did or didn't do. One day someone told you if you ignored them, it would stop, and for the most part they were right. Natalie's views, albeit without any merit, substance or grounds in reality, are her views. They are consistently ignorant and thats not going to change. She does it to provoke a response and she is quite successful. My two cents, "boycott" her comments and in time I am sure the issue will resolve itself.
Avi, do you really think that your recommendation to Natalie to "get a man" or that she is "devoid of sex" adds anything in the least positive to this discussion. Comments like yours are made when the person who makes them has nothing else to say...
But Gaza is under seige and the West Bank is under occupation. And of course we had Operation Cast Lead...
You take the prize for the most ridiculous post of the week, Rob. And the runner-up prize as well.... Maybe Natalie and I take it turns to be Satan....thought of that, did you?!
"a woman devoid of sex. Get a man, Durson".
does warmonger israel understand this peaceful ways to protest?
Except, the Israeli rockets are fired at military targets. Anti-Israelis are morons.
...It's obviously choking your brain of needed Oxygen.
Not worthy of your intelligence, SDHD, to call others "morons"...
Gaza is under siege precisely because of the rocket fire.
If Israel is the aggressor, it's up to the Palestinians to come up with a Gandhi, dolt.
even educated and civilized people depend on physiological processes on their bodies, develop deficiencies in behaviors as a response to lack of physical needs satisfaction. If you claim yourself as educated you should know it. Sorry for OT, everybody.
.....but there must be some way to end the seige without compromising Israel's security. The present situation harms both Gaza and Israel.
What on earth do the contents of your post...about bodies and needs and satisfaction...have to do with posting to Haaretz????
you are the bestest troll ever. hats off. please teach me.
He never liked the idea of israel. And Yugoslavia recommended a one state in 1947. Where is Yugoslavia now hey?
Israeli government should retain cash money due to PA for each rocket fired.
2% of the electricity we provide to the strip. Have it rise up by 2% for every week no rocket is being fired. There's no logic we'll power up their rocket factories.
Israel needs to deploy Iron dome, or heavily bomb Gaza. Iron dome is mainly intended to minimise need to strike Gaza. It is not fair that israel should boot all the bill alone. EU and US impose on Israel avoidance of Gaza bombing, so it is only fair that the cost of Iran dome is deducted from money which goes to Hamas;
extremists on one side or the other manage to do their best to destroy the chances. The extremists provoke and provoke and neither side is adult enough to recognize that the entire process should not be stopped because of a few terrorists. Someone from each side of this conflict should be the grown up and recognize these provocations for what they are. Both sides are guilty of this behavior.
Gaza is ruled ina totalitarian way bu Hammas which has the approval of a important part of the palestinian people. They rule the Gaza region and fire rockets from that area. This is not a matter of a few terrorists. This is a matter of an act of war coming from hostile entity in front of Sderot houses. Israel has the right to retaliate and destroy whatever represents the Hammas public sphere. parliament, leaders, police station etc.
You try to be politicaly correct by blaming both sides. But it is unfair to compare a theft of an apple with a murder. Perhaps Israely extrimists stole an apple sometimes. Hamas, PA, Iran MURDER. How can you put it on the same plain?
... and both sides are responsible. No way. israel is not responsible for actions of HAMAS. But Israel is responsible for protection of Israelis.
The rockets have never stopped, dopey. See where I make my point about the rockets having never stopped? Good boy.
Ever hear of Baruch Goldstein? Or the attack on the Islamic college in Hebron? Or the plot to blow up the temple mount?
for the Palestinians. See 4th Geneva convention.
Do you know why it's so easy for you to remember Baruch Goldstein's name? There was only ONE of him compared to THOUSANDS of his counterparts among the Palestinians -- and they are all organized among the Palestinians.
Meanwhile, there is no Israeli presence in Gaza: Civilian, military, or administrative. And Hamas is the government there. What occupying power are you yammering about, brainless?
well, you got it ! what did you expect? this Dawson, spraying her poison as usual
You didn't have to wait too long
If you are trying to stir up the "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!" crowd, it isn't a good look to also publish a photo showing that an IDF dude can lift one of those "weapons of mass destruction" with one hand......
Your logic is faulty. Try holding a hand grenade after the pin has been pulled. It will be no problem for the person cleaning up the mess to pick up the shell of the exploded grenade.
Amusing and saddens. Even without the metallic balls that Hezbollah uses (which cut through cars like cheese) these things send shock waves for dozens of meters. All the windows in the area were destroyed and anyone within 10 meters of it is dead. But I like how you're whining it's nothing but a fire cracker, shows you really have no argument to back you up
of course the IDf person can lift the used rocket body with one hand. When fullarmed ready to fire, the warhead alone is 22 kilo, thats fourty pounds, not including body, propellant etc. USe your heasd Jiohnboy, the propellant is totaly consumed and what remains of teh body is not much after teh impact and detonation. This is one fine example of Johnboy shpoing us just hiow stupid he is. Keep it up Jiohnboiy so we always know whom the stupid people are.
A standard stick of dynamite, enough to level a small house can be picked up with two fingers. The payload of a Grad has much more power. The Grad is about 8 feet long, the picture shows obviously just a small piece. There would be nothing left of the upper end.
What you can see is about a third to a quarter of the original weapon. If one of these was coming in your direction I would like to see how fast you could run.
If your kids were living in places like Ashkelon would still call this propaganda?
How about this for a non-violent proportional response: For every missile launched into Israel, cut off for a consecutive 24-hour period all power and water utilities to Gaza, supplied from Israel.
And the whole world whined.
What legal obligation does Israel have to supply Gaza with electricty or water? Let the Egyptians do it (or are they also guily of collective punishement?)
See Quatar's proposal to rebuild Gaza and re-establish ties with Israel 3 months ago.
Whats next ???
Its time to go back into Gaza and start taking it apart one section at a time.
I read the posts of the Israel haters and it makes me nausious.! Describing rocket, missle and mortar fire on civilian towns and villages as mere "firecrackers" or "bottlecaps" is just repulsvie and really just shows that you're not motivated by a desire for peace but a hatred of Jews. It's almost like you're dissapointed by that more Jews aren't being killed. Did you know that just about every apartment building in Israel has either a bomb shelter in the basement or in the case of new buildings a fortified "secured" room in each apartment and we've set up a massive early warning system to provide the few seconds alalrm needed to get there before the missles hit? What does it say about our Arab enemies that since the '50s we've known that we need to protect our civilians from indiscriminate shelling of civilan population centers? So before ridiculing Hamas' missles, maybe you should put your money where your mouth is and come visit Sderot and not run into the nearest bomb shelter when you hear the sirens go off.
people calling the rockets "firecrackers" are responding to the (accurately, in my view) perception that israeli response to these largely non-lethal attacks is always grossly disproportionate. That does not make them jew-haters. STOP THAT!!!! it delegitimizes and valid point you may have
A response to 7 years of rocket fire with a massive barrage of rocket fire a week before the operation.
Of course, you'd rather be in S'Derot than in Gaza. That will ALWAYS be the case. Who'd want to live in a community running rampant with terrorists. The question is, would you rather live in a Gaza, which either is, or IS NOT firing rockets into Israel. Which do you think would be a safer Gaza? One which is firing rockets or one that isn't?
The fact that they ARE lethal and completely disrupt Israeli lives begs for them to be stopped. That "proportion" hasn't been reached yet.
that makes me wrong, not a jew-hater, which was THE POINT of my comment
Who else has access to Grad rockets? Best response is to assassinate Haniyeh, turn off electricty to Gaza, and bombard military targets with artillery.
is ashkelon not in israel or only tel aviv ramatgan givate rambam are.??? you are always slow to react.
is ashkelon not in israel or only tel aviv ramatgan givate rambam are.??? you are always slow to react.
One rocket and you all start wailing about the inherent violence of Arabs in your casually racist way. Two weeks ago a mother was killed in Gaza by the IDF. Two months ago a 75 year old man was killed in Gaza by the IDF. Did the sky fall in on the peace talks? No! However, one missile finds its way onto an Israeli town and suddenly it's a sign that Arabs are all blood thirsty. Have a word with yourselves.
How about a decade of missiles. Morons never die, just get replaced.
BBC's David Yokel was screaming "A rocket hit some few hundreds yards from the BBC!!!!" Where was your upper lib ,John with Manchester ? Have a word with yourselff
if missiles were landing in manchester you'd be cacking in yr pants
main problem is palis always love a good rocket show and wait to hear it iompacy ion Israel. palis are still at negotiating tanle (hypotheticaly speaking) . Israel now goes and responds and kills a few palis trying to launch another rocket. The pali negotiationg team throws up its hands and walks pout claiming teh IDf killing these terrorists is a provocation . A provocation that teh palis started first. What happens is palis dont want to negotiate they want to wait until they are siomply given a state by teh USA. Frankly send tehm all off to Jordan and Egypt
I didn't see a single word of condemnation of the Palestinians in your posting for launching a missile against the peaceful city of Ashkelon, or mortqr shells against the Western Negev. All I saw was a scathing attack against Israel. Why is it that for you and people of your type, the Palestinians can do no wrong and Israel can do no right? Let's assume for a moment that Israel is all in the wrong. Does that justify the Palestinians' trying to kill peaceful Israeli noncombatants? I won't dignify your posting with the terms "double standard", "anti-Zionism" or even "anti-Semitism". To my mind, it's just "twisted thinking". I wonder how your twisted thinking reflects on other aspects of your life.
As you well know, there are movementrs in Wales and Scotland demanding independence or at least autonomy from England. Would this justify their launching rockets against Manchester, or blowing up the pub where you quaff your daily pint?
I WOULD LIKE TO SEE ONE ROCKET FALL ON YOUR HOUSE THAT WAS FIRED BY BY THE IRA AND SEE YOUR RESONSE. HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN ABOUT ALL THE LONDON BOMBING, THAT AT LEAST YOU HAD A WARNING SENT TO YOU PRIOR TO THE BOMB BLAST?
all you Brits are Arab lovers, and don't you forget it.
...your'e nice and safe in Manchester.
Then apply your theory and remain quiet. And don't ask Zionists to help you to deal with terrorists.
If that missile had been sent from Oldham or Rochdale into the direction of Manchester then it would have been you that would have been wetting your pants mate.
The Catholic community were seeking social justice in Northern Ireland for a very long time and they turned to terrorism to establish this. They bombed my city and I didn't appreciate it, but I could understand why they did it and still sympathise with their overall plight. It is not me who has twisted thinking, just do the maths and tally the toll of death and destruction wreaked upon the Palestinian people. In recent years the Palestinians have been dying at a rate of 100 to each Israeli. The killing has continued since Cast Lead. Yes, I can well understand why some Palestinians may choose to take this course of action although I don't agree with it.
How convenient of you sitting in your ivory tower in Manchester to mock the citizens of southern Israel that have seen 15,000 rockets fall on their schools, farms, Malls and houses. It started in 1929 with the Hebron massacre when an Arab mob butchered Jewish men, women and children and it hasn’t stopped since. You scoff at one rocket but you dam well know or should know of the thousands of terrorist attacks committed against the Israeli people over the last 80 yrs. NO country, No people have had to endure so much violence and wars while maintaining rule of law and a fair society. I would like to see how the British would have treated their neighbors had they launched 15,000 rockets, thousands of terrorist attacks and 3 wars killing hundreds of thousands of their people?
Thanks.
So, whoever kills more people is the bad guy? If a team of 5 people go in to rob a bank, 4 of them are killed and 1 police officer is killed, the police are the bad guys? The Arabs in the region started this war. Attacking with a knife and getting killed by a gun doesn't absolve you of being the aggressor, nor does it turn the person who is defending himself into one.
1920 were the first Arab riots against the Jews. 1929 was the second set of Arab riots.
Buy a book on the IRA and you'll see it. When the IRA were murdering British people we didn't bomb Ireland, we didn't fire artillery shells into Catholic areas, we didn't discriminate against Irish people in Britain, we didn't impose blockades stopping all but a few goods entering an area. We simply went after those who were responsible for the attacks. The IRA or other similar organisations have murdered British politicians, soldiers, police officers, civilians and even a member of the Royal family. Never did it lead to Britain responding towards the Irish as Israel acts towards the Palestinians. As for how we'd treat neighbours after wars, my grandparents generation fought against Germany in WW2, half a million Britons died. A generation before that in WW1 nearly a million Britons died, now Germany is a key ally, in NATO and the EU.
Israel should act accordingly. What other nation would not?
... even tho' some talkbackers salivate for a war...
hit NYC the US and its allies went after the Taliban and thier friends in Al Queda. firing rockets is war and retaliation inevitable
Hamas is going to get their little adolescent tachas kicked again for continuing to dream about military grandeur and then foolishly acting on the futility of it all. As has been reported by the Egyptian journalist that recently visited Gaza, the concern is not so much about the wealth there which is readily apparent but the much needed redistribution of it from the Hamas fatcats to the more needy Palestinians. Supposedly this was the initial moral drive to have Hamas' pious leaders come to power and address rampant government corruption but unfortunately they've instead proven how much they're personally addicted to enjoying the good life at the expense of their naive constituents. Why hasn't an Iron Dome battery been set up already in the area to counter the incoming missile if the monitoring radar guages an accurate city trajectory? Israel might be saving one of its future leaders.
What are the terrorists doing with their manhood while they hide behind women's skirts in the face of the IDF?
this was done by tunel business ppl, who can't afford now to buy new cars, etc (because of the open borders)
flatten those idiots again?
Israel needs to fight fire with fire They will not go down like they did with the Nazis If the Muslims want to play with fire, there will be loss of life on the Muslim side
and they are 20% Christian.
Gazans have to do something whit these Palestinians who use Gaza to attack Israel.
I would like to know what is the definition of a terorist group for Haaretz. They are calling the group that are trying to terrorize israeli civilian population "Palestinian militant". You have to call a terrorst a terrorsit even if he is palestinian or israeli. That's the only way to reach a peace agrremeen, one day ,perhapes...
because Haaretz is a european newspaper in Israel.
Hamas wants to bolster its supporters in the West Bank, by inducing an Israeli reaction and playing the martyr song again. We will not reply immediately, because we want quiet elections in WB. For these precise reasons, Hamas will permit itself to do more daring, massive and deadly attacks, as Israel will not really respond. Israeli public opinion will start to boil again, seeing every day on the t.v., the attacks, sirens, wounded, and deads. Some minor responses by Israel will occur to appease the public opinions. Hamas will see that Israeli responses have minimal effect, and will continue to increase its missiles bombings. By then, everybody will get used that Israel's reply are minimal. The elections in the WB will take place normally. After some subsequent missiles bombing by Hamas, and to the world surprise and indignation Israel will perform"cast lead 2". Goldstone will accuse us of being Nazis. At the end, the majority of casualties will be on the Palestinian side. "Peace activists" will confound actions and RE-actions and blame Israel after counting total number of casualties. This is the choice all Gaza mothers and Fathers made for their children: to die on the platter of cynical politics. Very sad.
...chose to be international pariahs by slaughtering thousands in Gaza and Lebanon. Israelis voted in those governments. Does that mean all Israeli mothers and fathers made this choice for their children? Does that make it ok for Palestinian militants to get revenge on them all? No... so don't say that about Palestinians.
Simply perfect.
Israel can immediately stop it's condemnations by the world by declaring itself a Moslem State. Then they will be able to slaughter fellow Moslems without becoming a Pariah Nation, just one of the crowd.
In the eyes of the world conditioned by corrupted media Israel will never be right whatever they do.. It has been like that for centuries.
If Israel pulls out of the West Bank the militants will use that territory to attack it on a daily basis.Only the target won't be Ashkelon but Tel Aviv
Oh dear ,in TelAviv?Do you mean that Ashkelon does not count?
This is what the Arabs mean by "direct negotiations"
Seems too much of a coincidence to me that it comes a day after the Arab League OKd direct talks. Another attempt by Hamas to scupper the chances of these talks before they start. Lets hope that they limit it to this otherwise sending Katyusha's to highly populated areas and large cities like Ashkelon is a serious provocation. Lets remember this is not a Qassam and not Sderot. If this happens again Israel would have to take preventative action.
...coexistence between Arab and Jew, between the nation-state of the Jewish people, Israel, and the Muslim-Arab world has been greeted by the Muslim-Arabs with violence. This launching of a grad rocket into the center of a major Israeli southern town is the "humanitarian" and "peace loving" Muslim-Arabs' response to the international pressure placed upon them and their leadership, both local and regional, to reach an accommodation with the nation-state of the Jewish people, Israel, through direct talks.
You have robbed and expelled people of their own land, you closed them in a small area and now you wonder why they don't want "accomodate peaceful coexistence"?
Prior to 1917, Gaza, (as well as much of the Middle East) was part of the Ottoman Empire. In 1917, it became part of the British mandate. During Israel's war of independence, Gaza was captured by the Egyptians. In 1967, it came under Israeli control. In 2007, the israelis pulled out of Gaza. No Arabs were expelled, and no one took their land. They just hate the Jews, plain and simple.
1) See no peace, or 2) The lack of existence of one of the sides. I assume, this poster doesn't mean the Muslim-Arabs shouldn't exist... And then we are told to cease calling Israel's critics certain names...!! This is one case in which such a name would be very appropriate indeed!!
The Arabs began attacking the Jews in 1920 and haven't stopped. When the aggressor loses a war, he's hardly the victim. Why aren't you whining about the expulsion of Jews from areas which came under Arab control and from the rest of the Arab world?
Savage attacks were made by Arab rioters in Jerusalem on Jewish lives and property. Five Jews were killed and 211 injured. Order was restored by the intervention of British troops; four Arabs were killed and 21 injured. It was reported by a military commission of inquiry that the reasons for this trouble were:-- (a) Arab disappointment at the non-fulfilment of the promises of independence which they claimed had been given to them during the war. (b) Arab belief that the Balfour Declaration implied a denial of the right of self-determination and their fear that the establishment of a National Home would mean a great increase in Jewish immigration and would lead to their economic and political subjection to the Jews. (c) The aggravation of these sentiments on the one hand by propaganda from outside Palestine associated with the proclamation of the Emir Feisal as King of a re-united Syria and with the growth of Pan-Arab and Pan-Moslem ideas, and on the other hand by the activities of the Zionist Commission supported by the resources and influence of Jews throughout the world. The court placed the blame for the riots on the Zionists, 'whose impatience to achieve their ultimate goal and indiscretion are largely responsible for this unhappy state of feeling’[12] and singled out Amin al-Husayni and Ze'ev Jabotinsky in particular.
Jews exercising their rights should be attacked, eh? They weren't violent. The violence was initiated against them.
What will be the response? How many Indians have to die? 10? 20?
Maybe 10 , 20 or even more... till the momenty the indians understand that maybe they have "the right" to demonstrate unconformity towards the jewish state, but the jewish state has the RIGHT to retaliate hard enough to the point the indiands will be deterred to try again.
free free palestine!!! :DDDD
FROM HAMASS
GET RID OF HAMAS AND THE PEOPLE OF GAZA WILL BE FREE ...CANT YOU WORK IT OUT NUCKLEHEAD!!!!!!
Free Gaza from Hamas’s occupation.
For years now...why don't you go for a vsisit to the new mall.
You big DUNCE.
Sure Open our borders trust the Balestinians show them Israel is very liberally open minded and return Israel gets.. a big boom boom hmm.. probably in response to the Arab League's call for Fatah to enter direct peace talks.
The rocket did not cause casualties!!!? So that is all right. How many casualties do we need to respond to this outrage. One rocket is one too many.I propose we ask Mr Netaniahu to go and live in Ashkelon,We might see a different response.,
Welcome to the conflict. A standard BM-21 soviet-made rocket hit a highly populated city. What if there was a group of children there? This is the nature of your beloved Palestinians. Nothing new beneath the sun.
is to grossly overreact. To in fact bomb Gaza AS IF the rockets had hit children. Every time. No questions asked (especially, "Where are the policemen that are supposed to stop these crimes? What do you mean we killed most of them? Uh oh ... better just bomb them again.) That being said, both sides are filled with trigger happy, chest-beating, religious idiots.
Hey "Giggles": "When you are in a place where men plan, conspire and desire to kill you, the rule is, kill or be killed." I didn't say that, A U.S. Marine, Iraqi war veteran said that. He didn't metion anything about "overeaction", just "kill". In your delirium, CAN you possibly understand that? My guess is not. YOur "postings" are obscene and belong elsewhere, just as you do. A few places come to mind....Giggle on that.
Israel took 7 years of rocket fire, with an increased barrage at the end before, "overreacting," jackass.
yeah right do you really want me to publish what israel did to them through those years
Publish whatever you want. Israel left and they increased rocket fire.
First of all, i'm glad that nobody get harmed. JPost and Ynet says 2 people are treated for shock. They'll be ok soon. But please don't use this as a justification for killing 300 Gaza children.
Israel isn't going after 300 Gaza children, just the rockets. Why not blame the Hamas? What do you suggest Israel do?
What's wrong with that? Huh Can?
seem to want Gazan children to die (judging by your rating.)
too many young men there with nothing to do and no hope for the future.
Judging by the rating, no one believes Israel will go after 300 children as a response, pinhead.
What is hamas doing with the millions in aid to better thier people???Oh I forgot, hamas would rather buy rockets than provide for it's people.Israel is not keeping them in prison, their religion is....
I suggest they stop firing rockets and amend their charter so as not to declare their aim is the destruction of Israel.
consequences.
should think about the consequences of your actions before you get your head handed to you. I think Israel showed great patience as you fired those rockets year after, year. Other folks would have tried to annihilate you.
A response to the direct talks lauded by the Arab league...Or the pretext of the long awaited Israel - Hamas & Hezbollah war
Let us see if you wet your pants, and run in circles, screaming "mommy" as I imagine you might?
That was a 122mm rocket, with a range of 40km, designed originally to attack armed forces. Hardly a fire cracker. You also ignore the alert that warns citizens. I assure you that as soon as something like that lands near your house, you will change your mind completely.
Other than the one in your pocket.
That grad had a 22 kilo warhead. Anyone thinking it was a firecracker has a serious case of head up teh ass. 22 kilo of high explosive makes for a nasty wake up call and can destroy considerable infrastructure and yes it can kill dozens if it lands in teh wrong spot. I am always amused by these useful idiots who are so flippant when it comes to these rockets. Stand within 100 yds of one of these and lets watch as your insides are turned to soup from teh blast, and if closer we can watch you get shredded. Idiots
Why didn't you mention in your post that you are an Expert in Rockets.
No free kicks. Days of the dhimmis wearing yellow cloth and getting off the footpath for the faithfull are over. Will Bishop Tutu comment on this" peaceful resistance"? The Hamas charter?
We supply them with all their electricity, drinking water and food and they fire missiles at us. Very logical.
which you switch on and off at well. You prevent construction materials from entering so they can't rebuild
They had plenty of infrastructure before they launched their rocket attacks. They can't rebuild bunkers and smuggling tunnels. What a shame. Anti-Israelis are morons.
A grad-type rocket implies a much bigger warhead, and is usually packed with hundreds or thousands of ball bearings to make the rocket more lethal. Remember, these rockets are fired in violation of international law. Each firing is a war crime, intended to kill Israeli civilians. It's time to put Hamas leaders on trial for war crimes. The alleged human rights organizations are years overdue in their calls for this.
The Hamas Charter is a Declaraton of War against Israel. International law does not forbid a declared war. But Hamas does not speak for all Palestinians. . Abbas wants a just peace with Israel. Hamas wants you destroyed. If you put them all in the same basket, you err.
Does Israel even know what this word mean ???
Everyone on both sides that has been accused of war crimes should be brought to justice.
unless some huge damage occurs or someone is hurt i see no reason to continuously report on goddamn bottle rockets.
I take it you're not Israeli. I'd like to see how you would handle a constant deluge of 'bottle rockets' in your hometown. But hey, thanks for playing.
What a stupid remark!. Have you ever been under missile attacks for years? Then, you would probably be able to see why you get a front page report.
if it were vice versa.. you would be calling for the UN to intervene
IF those rockets would have exploded on your roof, i think that you would want people to be aware of that, right?
No stupider than yours. Have you ever had your homes razed for years or your houses stolen from under you by some russian or american from Brooklyn? Keep burying your head in the sand and think they love you for what you do to them. Its amazing that you feel you deserve rose petals thrown at your feet while people are evicted, expelled, humiliated on a daily basis. Good luck with your eye problems.
I agree. It is pointless to report such a minor issue and highlight it. There were no causalities nor anybody got wounded. It is inhuman to kill Palestinians for such a minor un harmful issue that is being carried out by a handful of vandals among them.
The article points out that this is the first such missile to hit Ashkelon since Cast Lead. No casualties. Minimal damage. In what way is this rocket part of a "constant deluge", Israeli? Israel has fired vastly more tank shells into Gaza, and each one is vastly more damaging that these bottle rockets, but they seldom get reported.
How else can idiots like you know what we go through day after day, and have done for year after year.
build my house on the rubble of a Palestinian village within rocket range of said Palestinians.
My little home was built on sand in the middle of an area that had been empty desert for hundreds, if not thousands of years. Not on the rubble of any village, so how about being sure of your facts before you spout your stupidity?
It was after all only a couiple of planes, a few thoudsand dhimmies, no big deal right. You Allen are what stalin called a USeful Idiot. I dont know about how useful you are, but teh idiot part ism right on. next allen gets a Darwin award
In Russia, the Jews have been persecuted and told to go back to Palestine (i.e. Israel) for hundreds of years. But to you the Jews whose expulsion from their homeland took them to Russia are of course entirely unconnnected with their homeland. You wouldn't be looking to make a nonsensical argument by any chance, would you? Jordan is the (majority) part of Palestine that was hived off from the small rest for the Arab population, most of who did not have long ties to the land anyway. 0% of Jordan's population are Jews - they moved away to Israel to self-determine and avoid oppression. 20% of Israelis are Arab Muslims. Life isn't perfect for pretty much anyone in Israel, but Israel's Arabs certainly aren't oppressed. The mess in Judea/Samaria is there because Jordan created it by taking away Jordanian citizenship from those who lived there under their occupation, in order to create and sustain an open wound.
There are no people from Brooklyn razing homes in Gaza, imbecile.
It's been a constant deluge of rockets, not necessarily GRAD rockets, schmuck.
If a "Grad" rocket explodes in front of your Building; 1.) you would be afraid to stay next to a window for a at least a month. 2.) You would feel like a looser because you can't protect your family. 3.) Your Children would wet their paints forever. gggg
"Peace in our time..."
Gaza is beseiged
The answer of hamas to peace talk
Maybe they should engage in that fake peace talk and make Israel look foolish. Meanwhile, by rejecting that peace talk, they are the ones who look foolish.
