By Oded Yaron Tags: El Al Hamas Tel Aviv Stock ExchangeHackers shut down both the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) and El Al’s respective websites on Monday, one day after a hacker network threatened to carry out attacks on both sites.
The network, which goes by the name “nightmare group,” was able to cause severe problems for both sites. By 10 A.M., TASE's website was only partially functioning, while El Al’s website did not function at all.

Following the attack, Israeli Bank ordered to block IP addresses from Saudi Arabia, Iran and Algeria, fearing hackers could penetrate databases of Israeli banks. Even before Israel Bank gave the order, Discount bank and Bank Leumi blocked international access altogether.
The hack comes in the wake of a series of cyber attacks over the past two weeks, and only a day after Hamas called for harsher hacking attempts against Israeli websites.
“The penetration into Israeli websites opens a new front for electronic resistance and war against the Israeli occupation,” said Hamas spokesperson Sami Abu Zuhri on Sunday during a news conference in the Gaza Strip.
A TASE spokesperson stated that the trading system and the website are not connected, emphasizing that the trading system was in no way damaged by the hack.
El Al said they were “taking safety measures in the operations of the company’s website,” and that disruptions were to be expected.

That's to be expected from an insignificant stock exchange and a third tier airline. To put in perspective, Emirates has a fleet of 160 wide body new generation aircraft with an average age of 6.4 yrs and a further 212 aircraft on order. Their order book is 1/3 the value of Israel's GDP lol. Compare that to the archaic El Al fleet of 43 ancient aircraft and an anemic order book of 4 planes.
stuxnet rebound anyone?
... Don't TASE me, bro!
doesn't it bring a smile to your face? The problem for Israel is, if they can't bomb a problem, there's no plan B.
hacking major sites of a country is becoming a new war style ..cold war over internet
The lousy computer programmers at El Al and the TASE. My kids can program better than these dumbos. How hard is it to protect against a chain of simple SQL queries.
surely somebody is capable of some forethought somewhere
All sites are vulnerable to some extent. It sounds like it was simply a denial of service attack (DOS), which is simply so many requests on a specific page, that it eats all the bandwidth.
as they are not particularly know for their brains, but rather for their blind and stupid brutality...
they only invented modern maths, algebra, geometry, medicine and chemistry to name but a few. If you would open a few books Tony you might not remain so ignorant.
Unlike some other countries who depend on foreign aid.
with whatever means at Israel's disposal to keep her enemies at bay. Hamas and other Arabs cannot scream foul then, can they?
Stop asking intelligent questions.
Stop asking intelligent questions. You will baffle the knee-jerks.
Whilst we need to improve security systems we also need an effective deterrent to stop people wanting to hack into Israeli systems and the solution to that is limited targeted assassinations. If there is a major incident like somebody stealing thousands of credit card numbers then the solution is to track them down and make them vanish forever. On the record Israel says it wasn't us so can't be any diplomatic backlash but everybody is going to know the truth and it will make at least the opportunists who want to attack Israel using their hacking skills but have no desire to become a martyr think twice because they know what happened to other hackers who hacked into Israeli sites. Targeted assassinations of hackers is the nuclear bomb of the cyber world as long as the hackers know they could be next if they attack an Israeli site they won't be so quick to do it. We need to scare the hacking community and that means unofficially going on the offensive Cyber war is real and that means we have to fight dirty.
Who is assassinating civilians and proud of it? I do not condone malicious hacking, nor assassination of scientists, nor drone attacks that kill indiscriminately, but Israel should take a long look at itself in the mirror.
Sticking to your approach, kill kill kill and people will be scared of you. I think most rational people call that terrorism. Maybe, people kill people that think like you than people will be afraid to think like you. I LOVE YOUR APPROACH. its what the the torah and Jesus would have wanted.
Did you quit your meds again? How many times should it be said; do not quit taking your medicin!
Israel is SO good at building walls!
This is called JUSTICE
The smiles on the faces of a thousand talkbackers is the evidence that Israel has once again been hoisted on it's own petard.
building a nuclear weapon is stored. After all, the virus and the lies originated in the same place!
