Lebanese security forces are meanwhile searching for the other four suspects, who they believe have disappeared beyond the state's borders.
The Lebanese government plans to file an official complaint against Israel with the United Nations Security Council over the extensive spy ring it claims to have uncovered in the last year. It began a wave of arrests in April 2009 as part of an investigation in which dozens of people have been arrested.

The Lebanese complaint will center on Israel's alleged covert ties in the country's state-owned mobile telecom company Alfa. An employee of the company managed to flee the country on Sunday.
Ad-Diyar reported last week that Lebanese security forces are compiling a comprehensive report on spy networks that have been uncovered within the country. The report will detail how security forces were able to track and break up the networks.
According to Lebanese law, convicted spies face life in prison with hard labor or the death penalty if found guilty.

Willing to aid a current enemy state to aid in the cleansing of Lebanon. The world should give them asylum until they can return as heroes to Lebanon.
Or maybe I should say I am one of the many more who are not sick of them... And by the way I am not Muslim!
Keep dreaming. Are we out of our minds or what? "The world should give them asylum until they can return as heroes to Lebanon"... in your dreams. Traitors they are. Traitors they will be... To hell with them. I would love to invite so many of you out there to come to our US universities to show you what educated people here think of what is taking place in the ME!! Maybe that will help some people in Israel to come down a bit to earth!!
I guess democracy, tolerance, peace, advancement, care for human rights, education are not topics of interest for you Lebanese. Enjoy Hezbollah. They'll take you straight to the 11th Century.
Oh we know what is happening in THAT part of the ME and it is a regressive slide into the worst of what the dark ages provided.
Another antisemitic liberal from Ivy League - overeducated moron without any understanding of history
I went to a US university and consider myself quite educated, and so resent your absurd characterization of what "educated" people think about the Middle East. You have no idea what I think, nor apparently would you care. Your own level of education, unfortunately, shines right through.
Nah, Igor, just an Arab pretending to speak for the US. Except that the average American is a bit too smart and bit too pro-Israel to be confused by a silly posting like that.
I think the US Educated People should rethink if they have any reason to tell a country how peace is achieved ? How much peace have the US educated people achieved in recent years ?
I've been cheated by you since I don't know when So I made up my mind, it must come to an end Look at me now, will I ever learn? I don't know how but I suddenly lose control There's a fire within my soul Just one look and I can hear a bell ring One more look and I forget everything, w-o-o-o-oh Mamma mia, here I go again My my, how can I resist you?
What has become of the former Lebanon, that former "Switzerland of the Middle East"? Lebanon used to be a liberal country, one of the few Middle Eastern countries with a really pluralistic society. The PLO, Syria, and later Iran, put an end to that. Now that country's officals' are masked men, women in many parts of the country are forced to veil, christians are harrassed by the shias, gays and lesbians are forced to live their sexuality underground...and hezbollah, the country's de-facto rulers, bring wars and conflict to the country. Funny how people will still point to Israel when looking for someone to blame for Lebanon's misery...Instead, try to imagine what Lebanon could be without these "groups" turning it into a kind of Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Afghanistan, or Iran...
And Israel is the angel here??? Please please... some respect for logic and reason!
Why is the "Lebanese official" in the photo above wearing a mask?
as not to compromise the people who are doing the investigations so that they won't be targeted by Israel.
Who really knows about these things. While Israel unquestionably has spies...and still has despite these recent arrests....what's going on?. In the Middle East the way you destroy a person, enemy is call them a Zionist, to be working for Zionist goals, or to call them an Israeli spy. In all of the Muslim world this considered the greatest slander, it's used politically to destroy ones enemies. During both Palestinian intifada the Palestinians killed each other at a much higher rate (2 to 1) than Palestinians being killed by the IDF, this happened in the last few years of those intifada. Many were murdered for being spies for Israel, and most of the time it was NOT true. It was just old family beefs being settled...like the Hatfield and McCoy....a famous family feud here in the U.S.. Maybe these guys were spies for Israel,or maybe they are being destroyed by an old enemy for political gain, I doubt we'll ever know unless they come out in the public and tell us.
You got it right, Bro.
out of lebanon should be spying for israel
Will we ever know ? Doubtful. But M.E. countries in turmoil are to Israels advantage. Is the invisible hand of Mossad to blame for weak and unstable governments?
How patronising of you,or is it just racist 1st world superiority?
Than Hizballah owns the army and Lebanon has a bloodless coup by Shiite proxy army of Iran.
with harari killers about to be exposed Hizbullah is trying to kill off those that may stand in their way of taking over Lebanon. THe only way that Israel can defeat Hizbullah and Iran is to side with Lebanese in the democratic north.
The north is sunites and christians....and I doubt they are aligning themselves with Israel anytime soon....
Israel got away with the Gaza 09 massacre murdering thousands, even with Goldstones report proving war crimes. You think the UN can dare do a thing for a few spies!!!
They are out to trash the image of Israel as the only democracy in the ME. They want to show how big a bully Israel is, and so on.
there is more than 1 million spying for israel and another million for syria the rest are for iran...
americans, for the russians, for the french, for the germans, for the saudis, for the jordanians, for the brits, for the egyptians, for the chinese.
Ehhe ! Ehhe ! Ehhe ! U.N. Please, Please, Help. Help ! These 'Zionists' have infiltrated our army,police,night-clubs & on top of all this, one was even seen with the Butcher of Lebanon in his underground cave........The Chutzpah. Next we;ll find them in our bathrooms ! It's not a joke !
It is the politicians paving the way for these spies to do their work that worries me. A transparent investigation should take place in Lebanon and Politicians implicated in this spy ring should be immediately executed no matter who they are.
High command at least some, & Nsrallah in the past also gave valuable information to Israel.. Say bobharis shouldn't they also, according to you also be executed ? Actually it would do a lot of good.
the hatreds in lebanon, syria, lead people to acts of desparation. this applies to the highest levels in all groups.
And Israel should give them the reward they deserve
No matter what you evangelicals believe, but we should not give these anything, except thanks for their service, and pray that our own citizens do not do this.
They are only after its money. God doesn't play those dirty games of yours..! Lebanon will give them what they deserve!!
Otherwise the US Intelligence would have passed the info on Israeli agents to US Beirut Embassy that would promptly passed this to the Lebs.
Do you be think the US should pass on information about Israeli spies to Lebanon? Why one and not the other?
those spies should know that Israel will not provide them any protection 80% of the spies who worked for Israel in the Palestinian territories, they found themselves alone and in many cases Israel has to kill them by one way or the other Look at the Southren Lebanon Army, where they ive? What they are doing, then you will know that Israel is only thinking of its security interests not of those losers.
As Israelis with full rights .
I imagine they in the begining they did catch a couple of arabs spying for Israel but then they started catching a spy every couple of months now I cannot believe that Israel has so many spies operating in Lebanon let alone as many as Hizbollah seem to be catching. The bulk of these people accused are probably loyal Lebanese citizens but if HIzbollah suspect them for any reason they automatically become spies and must be punished.
