Explosion at apparent Hezbollah arms depot injures five
Lebanese security officials say that explosion in southern village of Shehabiyeh may have been caused by a short circuit that set off secret Hezbollah munitions.
By Avi Issacharoff, The Associated Press, Haaretz Service and DPAExplosions ripped through a three-story building on Friday in southern Lebanon that might have been used to store weapons by the militant group Hezbollah, Lebanese security officials said.
At least five people sustained various wounds and burns and were rushed in for treatment, according to Lebanese security and hospital sources.

According to a witness, the sounds of further blasts continued to be heard in the Hezbollah-dominated town of Shehabiyeh as ambulances and firefighters scrambled to the site of the initial explosion.
Lebanese army troops are said to have cordoned off all areas leading to the village.
Shehabiyeh, near the city of Tyre, is located in the volatile border zone south of the Litani River in which Hezbollah has been banned from having weapons under a United Nations resolution that ended the 2006 war between the militant group and Israel.
The area is patrolled by UN troops and Lebanese soldiers and has been largely peaceful since the war, but there have been a number of mysterious explosions in the past year at buildings suspected of housing Hezbollah arms caches.
It was not clear what caused Friday's blasts, but one official said it might have been triggered by an electrical short circuit setting off secret Hezbollah munitions.
In July 2009, an explosion at a Hezbollah arms depot near Tyre killed a number of people and brought attention to Hezbollah's stockpiling of weapons in south Lebanon.
UN Resolution 1701 prohibits Hezbollah from engaging in military activities in south Lebanon and forbids weapon smuggling to the group.
Two months ago, the Israel Defense Forces published evidence of alleged Hezbollah military activity in south Lebanon.

UNIFIL assures us Hezbollah is not rearming in contradiction to UN Resolution 1701. They can't be wrong. No?
Palestinians better side with the Peace partner crew. Look what hezbollah is cooking and look at the position of the Palestinians in Lebanon. Palestinians will be much better off with the two peoples-two states solution without Iranian domination. The palestinian Authority has to round up the troublemakers and ignore the few plywood structures fanatic settlers have to put up in response to the condemned Hamas terror attacks. The bulldozer will take care of that later on. Evidently the Arab world is asked to choose between the way of terror of the way of Peace. Israel is asked to choose between settling or Peace. The majority of the Middle East is in favor of calm lives in harmony and sick of the waves of violence and hatred. We all will gain by Peace.
ANOTHER EXPLOSION?! LAST NIGHT, IN ARUBA IT WAS THE OFFICE OF 'PPA' THAT WAS BLOWN UP BY {AN} EXPLOSION: IT JUST BURNED OFF - DOWN ON2 THE BOTTOM - AND NOTHING LEFT.
and it is time for peace.enough to bloodshed and suffering. Hezbolla,Hamas and israeli fanatic factions must learn this. Enough is enough!
Iranian arms are probably of low quality.
That is all.
or was it #173 ? rofl
The exact text is rather more interesting than the Hasbara version ... http://wp.me/pDB7k-uD
Awww, too bad.
that's how they operate, so if in a war the villages are bombed [because they become military targets] they can gain international sympathy. Similar tactics were used in iraq when they would shoot from mosques and hide weapons in mosques. hamas does the same thing. Plus they use ambulances to convey their weaponry.
That a targeted attack can as a result lead to a huge explosion that kills many people because it set off hidden arms in a building.
So do Hamas which is why operations like Cast Lead are mounted in civilian areas. They store weapons in civilian areas because its a good way of hiding them and if Israeli intelligence finds out where the weapons are hidden if its in a building full of civilians then Israel either has to blow up a building full of civilians which Hamas would love to see happen or Israel needs to launch a major ground operation which it doesn't want to do.
Or is the protection of townships the exclusive right of Israel? The same olde same olde Hasbara twaddle wears thin after a while..... Say...., guess who was hiding in the Hurva synagogue circa 1948 ...
give it 24 hours and they will " blame the Zionists"
Unquestionable Mossad involvement. Its forte after all and the timing is ever so important.
Hysterical response by Israelis declare that Hezbollah have just detonated a nuclear device contrary to 1701.
That's some good job boys, keep it up. If enough 'accidents' like these keep happening, the need for war will blow up. ( sorry, just couldn't resist )
Whatever that means but I'm sure the intent is to showcase your cleverness.

nasrallah must be very proud
good news... how many of these thugs died? probably not enough. finally where all the left wing israel haters? all these lefties are up in arms whenever israel is to blame or when we protect ourselves... just goes to show you bigots only are happy when a jew dies.
:)
Israel has been chided over the years for breaking UN resolutions. Hezbollah is doing the same so i cannot point a finger at them.....but how can the UN keep a straight face and say they had no idea what was going on under their watchful eye.
I see they took the time to lovingly paint all their rockets that particular shade of green. Very pretty. The green goes with their red berets. Ah, pride.
I wonder who is behind this all????
The best intelligence agency in the world. That's who.
between human life and human lives wasted. Looks like the Jews got all the brains.
None other than Hizbollah is behind this. By storing weapons and ammunition in civilian areas they are responsible for damage to property and civilian casualties. Apparently this became common practice in Hizbollahstan. I have no sympathy when it goes wrong. It serves them right.
"I have no sympathy when it goes wrong. It serves them right. " Should an accident ever happen in Israel you'll be as sympathetic?
and the reward can be devastating
Justice was done here. May more of these "peaceful" cities and villages in Hizbollahstan fly sky high. What goes around comes around for Hizbollah.
Or... pull out of Shebaa, Golan, and of the 1967 invaded lands. You won't have to worry after...
Dont even get me started
How many UN Resolutions have the Zionists violated .... countless of them i am sure .... Your continues flights and violation of Lebanese is not a violation of UN Resolutions
Actually we are all rooting for them to be blown up, which they will be with their actions.
The occupation took place in 1967. That is when Israel was attacked, at a point when she wasn't occupying any Arab lands. Israel offered to withdraw in exchange for peace and recognition and the answer was no. Hamas says nothing short of extermination of the Jewish state will do and they continue to kill and maim Israelis to effectuate this goal. Gee whom am I to believe, Skeptical Dude or the formal policies and actions of the violent, bloodthirsty, delusional Arab barbarians?
Israel's violations are a product of one thing, self defence. That trumps everything, don't you "think"?
What an idiot! Before 1967, when there was no Golan occupation, the Israeli farmers were routinely shot at by the Syrians. If the '67 borders are so sacred, why did the Arab armies and population launch all these strikes to break those borders? It's not about land, it's about Jews on the land.
Nope! Narry a one.
XD
People I know have furniture and other "normal" things in their home. But in Lebanon, they have explosives in their homes. Smart people - yup.
Well if kids will play with fire, they'll get their hand's burned. I have little sympathy.
If so, this proves how Israel uses the sentence once used as boat safety measures (only this time it is about firing shots) - Women and Children first!!!
hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!
pahetic.
Hysterical. Mad bombers go boom.
