European Security Council members to condemn Israel's settlement construction

For 19 years you had a huge wall splitting Jerusalem by east and west and the Hebrew university (which is technically west Jerusalem) was in the middle of East Jerusalem?!?!? My father used to have to take a special UN bus just to get to school... How do you suggest splitting the city? The thought about crossing the street and being in a separate country is madness... How about we stop talking about splitting between east and west and talk more about sharing an undivided capital city of two states... Why cant the area of Jerusalem be the district of columbia for Israel/Palestine?

they will ever have any control over E. Jerusalem? It's just not going to happen barring a major war and a major defeat of Israel. Israel now moves on with expansionist policies and Europe can cry over spilt milk. Let them worry about the palestinians in Syria ! We see how powerless and helpless Europe and even the UN is over the situation in Syria. They are all hot air.

Closes its eyes to the chaos, mayhem , and slaughtering of muslim vs muslim yet opens its eyes wide to condemn the building of homes. Since when does international law of building homes on disputed territory overtake the wanton mass murder of civilians by the leaders of those countries. I'll tell you when. Let them restrict to their own European problems. Meanwhile, I would like to end my European membership, as well as my UN membership, but unfortunately, only countries are members.

It needs to move past condemnation and into sanctions that hit Israel's pocket. Until that happens it will have nil effect. Actions by governments opposing illegal settlements need to have more teeth.

Condemn Israel's settlement construction? Big deal. If the European Security Council members want to be effective, they should place some sanctions on Israel, boycot Israeli products and do whatever it takes to punish Israel for it's crimes. Talk is cheap but actions speak louder than words.

This is not the age of Charlemagne or El Cid. Israel even signed a treaty and is violating that treaty. Israel hasn't even pretended to annex the land or the people. Why can't Israel adhere to a treaty it signed and ratified?

It is difficult to understand why EU consistently opposes to the new constructions in Jerusalem in Northern or Eastern region. EU believes that such an action can stop the constructions of new buildings? It will be more productive if EU will help to PA to work out realistic and pragmatic position to speed up a formation of Pal State refusing from the request to get E.Jerusalem as a capital of Palestine. This refusal will lead to a quick formation of the state for Arabs.

whether East, West, North or South Jerusalem is Jerusalem, and there is no reawson Israel should not build in its capital, just as there is no reason the US should not build within Washington city limits, or London within London city limits. Moreover, Ramart Shlomo is a neighborhood of Jerusalem just as the Bronx is a borough of New York City. No one is going to tell us we cannot build in our own capital city.
