The Israeli citizen arrested in Poland, using the name Uri Brodsky, is suspected of working for Mossad in Germany and helping to issue a fake German passport to a member of the Mossad operation that allegedly killed Hamas agent Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai in January, a spokesman for the German federal prosecutor's office told The Associated Press.
Brodsky was arrested in early June upon his arrival in Poland because of a European arrest warrant issued by Germany which is now seeking his extradition, the spokesman said, declining to be named in line with department policy.
Dahi Khalfan Tamim told the U.A.E. website the National that they would not seek Brodsky's extradition since "this person has committed the crime in Germany and therefore it is only normal that he will be prosecuted there."
"For us, what is important that he will receive his punishment irrespective of which country," Tamim said.
The Dubai police chief added that the "fact that German investigators could develop their own investigations is a clear indication of the strength of the information provided by us and that the pictures and other data collected are accurate," adding that the co-operation of the different Interpol members is leading the development of investigations."
"We will continue to co-operate with the different concerned authorities in the case,” Tamim told the National.
On Saturday, a spokesman told reporters that he could not estimate how long it could take for Brodsky to be extradited from Poland to Germany, saying the matter is now in the hands of the Polish authorities. "If Brodsky agrees, the extradition could take a few days, but that isn't likely," the spokesman said.
In Warsaw, Monika Lewandowska, a spokeswoman for Polish prosecutors, confirmed that the suspect, identified only as Uri B., was arrested at the city's international airport on June 4. She told the AP that the arrest warrant was made in connection with the murder of a Hamas member in Dubai.
"The suspect appeared before a Polish court on June 6, and was ordered to remain in temporary arrest for up to 40 days," she said. Lewandowska had no information on his possible extradition.
In Israel, the Foreign Ministry said without elaborating that it was aware of the man's fate. "At the moment, we're looking into that like any other Israeli who has been arrested, and he's getting consular treatment," spokesman Andy David said

how you-all could openly support such a man is shocking. as the jihadist war expands around the world are you-all ready to fight alongside such people? choose ye today. as you & I are --not on the same side.
Israel is likely to allege that this is a trumped up charge against Brodsky meant to slander Israel and if there is credible evidence against him, then he shoud be tried there since anything else would result in an anti-semitic diatribe.
Seems the Arabs have no proof of Israeli involvement
No doubt that dubai is showing a great outrage for the eradication of this murderer on its territory...But its only for show...dubai,saudi arabia and all the sunni arab states, specialy the oil moguls are all about business and can't afford to have terrorists in their midsts...They pay the terrorists for tyhem to stay abroad...The sunnis must be very happy when one of the mad dogs is hit...but they need to show consternation...Let the european suckers carp for the dead terrorists...
Dubai honors the rule of law. So does Poland and Germany. It appears Israel does not.
...we'd heard the slightest concern from Dubai about al-Mabhouh's use of fake passports to get in the country. It appears that this concern for the Rule of Law is only applicable when the suspect is Israel... BTW, i'm just curious, was the Iraq invasion legal in your opinion? because, surprise! poland's troops were in iraq!
I'm the one who figured out how to write like one.
Let Germany try the guy. That keeps Dubai from accusations of a kangaroo court and leaves Israel to accuse Germany of anti-Semitism.
Why he visited Warsaw? What for?
If the police hadn't caught the guy, you probably would have read about the reason for his visit in the headlines of the papers!
it requires from a German interrogation of the suspect. Dubai's assertion is that Mossad agents entered Dubai on cloned or forged passports and committed murder. A successful prosecution by Germany would confirm this. Dubai will then be free to ask for the arrest and extradition of Netanyahu, Barak and others for ordering an assassination on it's soveriegn territory. No wonder Israeli ministers are calling on Poland to send the alleged Mossad Agent back to Israel for trial. Wondered why germany hadn't done anything regarding the passport affair. Now we know. They already knew, how and where. They were waiting to get their hands on who. Wondering if France also knows who how and where. I think the shore of the Kinneret is going to be more crowded than usual this Summer. T
The capture of this individual creates a great opportunity to abstract information and possible arrests of the other members of the hit squad.
He is accused of supplying fake German passports that were then given to the people who committed murder in Dubai. He is, therefore, a person who has committed no crime against Dubai. The Dubai police are correct; better that he be prosecuted in the country that DOES have jurisdiction over HIS (alleged) crime.
I'm confused. Is no there no law in Dubai against conspiring to murder? If there were, surely Brodsky could be accused of conspiracy (it being admitted that Dubai would have to show a prima facie case to the Poles or the Germans).
