Clinton urges Turkey: Don't sever dialogue with Israel
U.S. official says Turkish FM agrees to leave Iran nuclear issue to UNSC and IAEA discussions.
By Natasha Mozgovaya and News Agencies Tags: Israel news TurkeyU.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton urged her Turkish counterpart on Monday to continue dialogue with Israel, deeming the relationship between the two Middle Eastern countries crucial to the future of the region
Clinton held a 45-minute conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davotuglu during her visit to the region on Monday, on issues ranging from Iran to the U.S. commitment to helping curb terrorist elements in Turkey.

A senior U.S. official told reporters that during the meeting between the two Davutoglu agreed to leave the issue of Iran's nuclear program to United Nations Security council powers and the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The Turkish Embassy had no immediate comment on the Clinton-Davutoglu talks.
Earlier, State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said after their conversation that "the secretary encouraged the foreign minister to continue important dialogue with Israel because that relationship remains a vitally important one to the future of the region."
"The secretary also… reiterated the United States' commitment to help withthe PKK as a designated foreign terrorist organization," added Crowley. The PKK remains a common enemy of Turkey, the United States and Iraq and is a threat to the stability of the region."
The relationship between the two countries was once close, but Israel's deadly May 31 raid on a Turkish-flagged humanitarian ship bound for Gaza exacerbated tensions already in place since the Israel Defense Forces' 2008-2009 war with the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip. Israel has refused Turkey's demand that it offer compensation and an apology to the families of the nine people killed in the raid.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan told reporters in Serbia on Monday that his country would not drop that demand.
"We have three expectations from Israel. We demand an apology, compensation for the families of victims and an end to Gaza blockade," Erdogan said, according to Turkish media.
His comments came just as the Israel Defense Forces released an investigative report on the flotilla raid that blamed the fatal consequences on intelligence failures.
All nine of the pro-Palestinian activists killed by Israel Navy commandos aboard the Mavi Marmara were Turkish citizens, but one was born in the United States.
While in Serbia, Erdogan blasted the U.S. for not responding to the death of its citizen in the same way that Turkey had.
"It is meaningful that the U.S. administration is not interested in death of American citizen Furkan Doğan just because he is of Turkish origin. We expect US administration to follow it," Erdogan said, according to Turkish media. "The U.S. administration remains silent on the issue."

Erdogan is Crazy! That I agree with! However, Turkey does not need to recognize the so-called genocide as she has tolerated non-muslims for more than 500 years! Are you telling me the Turks woke up one day and decided to kill armenians?? after 500 years? Turkey was under attack by external forces and nationalist uprisings in Turkey during WW1! Why were the armenians against the idea of the ottoman achives being opened/examnined? the truth lies in historical facts auch as the archives and not in the pockets of corrupt turkophobic politicians WHO ARE GETTING PAID BY THE ARMENIAN DIASPORA/LOBBIES! It is funny not that long ago many jews and israelis were saying how wonderful turkish people were because they saved them from the spanish inquisition and from the atrocities of WW2! and now many are singing the same anti-turkish propaganda tune all because of one rotten apple named Erdogan! Well let me tell you something as someone who is part "turkish-jewish" I will be forever grateful to Turkey! I hate Erdogan but I have faith in the Turkish public who is most likely to vote for CHP or MHP as they are now realizing that Erdogan is fake and damaging Turkey politically! Half the population is Kurdish and they are NOT oppressed. Was Ismet Inonu oppressed??? is the New Kemal aka Kemal Kilicdarloglu oppressed?? If many Turkophobic nations want the Kurds in turkey to set-up another state in the east of turkey, then first the white europeans need to give up their lands to the aborigines, native-americans, black africans, mexicans, and aztecs!!!!!!!!! How about that??? Oh and one more thing, is eastern Turkey really "kurdistan" because armenians say it is armenia, and the syriacs say it is part of syria so who exactly does it belong too?? THE TURKS! THATS WHO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NE MUTLU TURKUM DIYENE!!! TURKEY WILL ALWAYS BE ATATURKS TURKEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE DON'T NEED THE EU!!! OR COUNTRIES LIKE IRAN AND SYRIA WHO NOT THAT LONG AGO WERE TRAINING THE PKK TERRORISTS! CHP OR MHP FOR TURKEY NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And also muslims must understand that the world must press Turkey to take the case of Kurds and the Armenian genocide as well as the genocide in Darfur and let the international court decide about it once and for all.

Erdogan said: "It is meaningful that the U.S. administration is not interested in death of American citizen Furkan Doğan just because he is of Turkish origin." Erdogan is wrong, and this statement shows that he does not know much about North American political culture. The US would not care about *any* US citizen who died under those circumstances, even if he were Christian and his name was John Smith. Mark Marshall Toronto, Canada
and ask her to tell turkey to be friends with Israel. How funny is that
I think Israel does not know this. Erdogan straightforward one. Think says. CHP and the MHP is dangerous. They think because they do not tell.
O Jewish friends, the event is very simple. If accepted the following conditions 72 million in istanbul Turkey is ready to embrace you. We have three expectations from Israel. We demand an apology, compensation for the families of victims and an end to Gaza blockade
slaughtered by the Turks; apologize to the Kurdish people for slaughtering hundreds of thousands of them inside Turkey and beyond Turkish borders; and finally, apologize to the Cypriot Greeks Turkey expelled from their homes and for having set up the Turkish controlled government in the northern part of the country. And of course, Turkey should apologize to Israel and ask the west to be a loyal and respectful member of the liberal democratic world instead of siding with the Islamist regime of Iran and the dictatorship of Syria. Can Turkey do so or is it too tall an order for it and it has already moved beyond the point of no return?
Why don't those cowardly Americans immediately start a war with Turkey on behalf of Israël...??
All of this has escalated to create a low point in Israeli and turkish ties in a long time. ( Ode to sofa incident) If Erdogan is really an advocate of Peace and Humanitarian Issues , then I say lead by example. Millions of Kurds( also Muslim ) live in Turkey and are treated as second class citizens at best. Deal with your own issues first before creating termoil elsewhere. Here are three pre-conditions for you before coming back to Israel with demands. 1-Recognize the Armenian genocide 2- Treat the Kurds with the dignity you want Israel to give to the Palestinians. You brand the Kurds liberation movement (PKK ) as a terroist group and entered Iraq with Israeli purchased Drones to fight them . You say this is for National security. When Israel fights Hezbollah for its own National Security, you are quit to come to the defense of another terrorist organization. 3- Thank Israel for continuing year after year to lobby against the Armenian genocide Then lets sit down to talk
Wow, now Israil is the best friend of Kurds and Armenia ha??? Where were you we for years. Shame on you.
...within and without Turkey; by becoming closer ally of countries such as Iran and Syria; and by being hostile to the nation-state of the Jewish people. Europe doesn't like it. America doesn't like it. Israel doesn't like it. Many within Turkey don't like it. And at this point in time Erdogan has managed to ensure that Turkey will never be part of the European Union, and Turkey is getting very close to being asked to leave NATO as well.
CHP OR MHP for Turkey next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Turkey needs to turn to Russia and China!! What has the US done for Turkey???? The only way the Israeli/Turkish relationship will survive is if those no-good politicians in both Israel and Turkey eg Nethanyahu and Erdogan make way for another party to come to power! PKK and the force behind it will never prevail !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Turkey will fight against "filthy terrorism" till the end!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't divide the votes. Turkish Jews (I am originally one) did not support CHP after the Varlik Vergisi incident. (Understandable) but always loved and respected Ataturk. However today it is a new world and a new CHP. The issue in hand is stopping Turkey from becoming another Iran.
You are so right. US government only cares her relationship with israel, which gives great political and economical power to american politicians for important their sensational elections.
Or is it yet another case of 'do as I say' rather than 'do as I do'?
I, as a Turkish citizen, demand Israel to apologize for killing our 9 unarmed citizens in the international waters, pay compensation to their relatives, accept an international inquiry which will be run by UN and its consequences. She, also, has to lift the blockage on Gaza and return our ships which have still been kept by Israel. No other way will be accepted by Turkey not to sever ties with Israel.
Too bad for the all normal Turks, but I guess lunatics like yourself have to run the asylum for a while.
What part of NEVER don't you understand. Why did Erdogan allow a ship full of terror thugs to sail from Turkey?? As for the blockade on Gaza, please allow your memory go go a little further back. Do 8,000 unanswered Hamas qassam rockets ring a bell ?? Remember ?? Don't think Israel just woke up one morning and did this. You're too smart not to see the WHOLE picture. Again, NEVER.
The Turk terrorists did have weapons, chains, knives, bats etc, one Israeli soldier was shot. To say these Turks were unarmed is at best naive. I suggest you also demand compensation to be given to those Kurds your country's military have destroyed 8000 Kurdish communities (Source: Wikipedia) from your Turkish Government.
Israel is not sane. Far rightists are in power and it's more harmful than beneficial to have ties with. You should consider the same Mrs. Clinton.
America tried.... and tried....but Erdogan proves the immobility of his beliefs. Its the same with Ahmadinejad, as it was with Saddam. They will go to their death but not change even a coma....
Turkey opened its land and military bases to US soldiers and airmen during and after the Gulf War. Turkish pilots flew with the Americans to enforce the Northern no-fly zone. As for Ahmadinejad, it was Obama that explicitly requested Turkey and Brazil to try and get Iran to sign a deal for exchanging nuclear material for preventing the sanctions. They managed to do that, and it was the US that turned 180 degrees away and decided to ignore the very deal they proposed. If Turkey was to join the UNSC decision, it would have made a fool of itself.
.... They managed to do that,(the deal with Iran) and it was the US that turned 180 degrees away.... etc" Now, about that, I will not say that Erdogan and Lula were stupid to do a deal like that, many months later, when Iran had already doubled its enriched uranium, so that the deal was ridiculous. The time is an element in negotiations, you know that Mr. Murat? So, I don't think Turkey and Brazil were stupid. I think that you are so... Turkey and Brazil did the whole thing to aggravate the US and the whole West!
as far as dealing with Iran... we have heard of Obama using hand - written note to communicate with Erdogan with regards to Iran nuclear material. However the portended "US that turned 180 degrees" wasn't. When the private channel was facilitated with positive signs came time to engage American parliament. America would not allow 3rd party to manage this delicate a process and requires full and complete transparency, including appropriate monitoring and inspections regiment, as per IAEA standards. Turkey reneged on the deal since it had no slightest intent to hold Iran accountable to anything. Erdogan must have though he can do something behind the closed doors... present pile of radioactive material, swear on his pride that this is entire stockpile of Iranian radioactive material, and have Mr. Obama sell it to the media. When it comes to transparency, standards, and international norms Erdogan’s office is on the other side of the Moon. It was interesting that Brazil tried to salvage the deal and facilitate it even in the absence of US support. I guess we owe these attempts to personal integrity of Mr. Lula de Silva. Lula da Silva flew in person in both places trying to bridge the differences. In the meantime Mr. Erdogan was sitting home enjoying his “pride”. The interesting part comes, what if Iran signed up for transparent checks and had Brazil facilitate fuel exchange. I don’t think Turkey is interested in this scenario. Turkey and Arab goal at large is not peace. And seeking peace is not necessarily a passive process either. And this makes the sanctions a lot more ominous then one may want to. Since I do hold it close to heart that attacking Iran would be wrong. Even if they have a nuke or plan to have one. I don’t know why. It just that way. I am also extremely disturbed by Erdogan wedge policies. These rogue policies do not benefit average Turkish guy and spell much trouble for the region. When one is enlightened it is visible... however there is no shame in ignorance.
Mrs. Clinton should urge the Israeli Govrnmnt. to come to its senses! Oh she can't because of the pressure of the Israeli Lobby in the US.....I forgot! The Committee doesn't even have the right to subpoena the Soldiers that were involved in the incident, because, so the IDF says, the Army will hold its own internal investigation. So how many Committee's does Israel intend to create? One for the Stern, one for the Bow, one for the Deck...etc... Do you really think that Turkey will accept this farce of an 'Investigative Body'? Unless there is an international Inquiry,-with subpoena power (subpoena ad testificandum) and sanctions power, there is,-and never will have been an impartial investigation, as far as Turkey is concerned. Fullstop. Shalom.
if Israel and US "sincerely"regret the lost of human lives.
The Turkish American guy was a Fanatic who wanted to be a Martyr. We are not impressed.
The Turkish American was a fantastic guy with conscience. And I am very impressed for his efforts.
I suppose you are also ready to be shot
you are too easily impressed by people with iron bars... I wonder who brought you up this way.
Shooting and killing? What a caveman!
Wow, what a coincidence. Erdogan has three expectations: apology, compensation and lifting of blockade. Surprisingly Armenians have the same expectations: An Apology for the cold blooded murder of 1.5 million Armenians by Turkey during the Armenian Genocide, Compensation for our lost ancestral land and the lifting of Turkish blockade on Armenia since 1993....
Since when do you care about the Armenians? Why did not Isreali governments defend Armenians against Turkey when the relations was ok?
The Israel Lobby has been the biggest obstacle to the recognition of the Armenian genocide in the U.S and as well as Israel not doing their duties to recognize the first genocide of the century. Erdogan denies the Armenians the above three and continues to treat the Kurds ,,,,, how can i put it, like the same way they allege the Israeli's treat the Palestinians. Why does Turkey all of a sudden want to stab an ally in the back? why all of a sudden do they care for the Arabs of Israel ? What about the Arabs that live like peasants in their homelands thanks to these farce Kingdoms like Saudi Arabia? Erdogan wants to create a Pan-Turkic tidal wave and is trying to use the Palestinian cause to make him a false "hero " in the eyes of the Muslim world. Hit Turkey back by having the Knesset approve the Genocide. this was announced 2 weeks ago as being on the agenda in two weeks time.
Sorry to disappoint you. It wasn't. The IDF was, or shell I put it, a tacit acquiescence of IDF to Turkey. The biggest obstacle to recognition of Armenian Genocide was and is our American Iraq adventure. Given past position of Israel with regards to Turkey allied country and Turkish interest with regards to so – called “unification” of Kurdish republic ( under Turkish flag ) it was a tricky balance north of Tikrit with 2 million Turkish army standing just north. However now that Erdogan has mustered untold enmity between our two nations, his army might want simply leave Iraqi border. And considering his scrapping purchase of Israeli tanks, having unparalleled performance ideally suited for Iraq, it does not look like Mr. Erdogan even has ambitions in the area. He is a lot better with iron bars… From now on IDF virtually guarantees unbreakable sovereignty of Iraq, including her Kurd enclaves. In fact a little more of this continued kerfuffle and Erdogan will invite “International Defense Force” to back Kurds, openly. It will take just one massacre that makes it to international TV to get sufficient baking for a limited “peacekeeping” operation. And so goes the story how to make friends and influence people. If I didn’t know better I would say Erdogan was a Jewish guy who musters to get hated where everyone else was loved. And if the world really does succeed in recognizing Armenian Genocide during his PM tenure, he will actually go down in history as the greatest Turkish humanitarian, as ironic as it sounds.
Hillary of course is an important official, but as you well know, it's all about Bill... may be he will pay? Ask the man...
As Israel ineptly spilled Turkish blood this is now a NATIONAL ISSUE and not a partisan one! Israel shall agree to Turkey's terms or SHALL suffer the dire consequences! Make no mistake all Turks support their government as Israel is finished in the Turkish public opinion which is as bad a crime as the murder of the humanitarian workers.
Secular Married to a Jewish woman And supporting Erdogan! Israel has to pay for this, of course in international court.
Believe me when I say that Turkey has a lot more to lose than Israel does. So big deal with your consequences. Who do you and Erdogan think your threatening ? Come to terms with your own minorities before creating issues abroad.
it's not about your or Turkish pride, coward. It is about fear of people who came with iron bar on Israel from Turkey under Erdogan's command. Let me know when you have enough courage in your pinky to stand up to these people even in your sleep.
NATO precludes ANY security deals with the US and Israel in war time. NATO would have to attack Israel on behalf of Turkey. That would equal one IDF loss, which technically means Israel would likely cease to exist. People don't realize 1948 came in the blink of an eye and the end can come in the same blink. The more normal Israel's relationship is with the INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY (the ones they say are horribly biased against Israel in the first place), the less likely it is for any sort of bitter-destiny like this to be fulfilled. The best defense is having no enemies.
Turkey is no isolated, they don't have permanent enemies, their economy is booming despite of the recession, Israel, well the opposite. Israel needs every single ounce of help they can get.
the only thing Turkey will loose is an ally-looking but in fact an hostile state run by a bunch of pyromaniac so called politicians. If a state doesnt even feel sorry for the murdering of the civilians, let the ties sever once ! Israel has not realized yet that this time it bumped to a hard rock ! Turkey should never be likened to those neighboring small arab states Israel is sporadically fighting with !
the american people unfortunately have no other good choice to get them out of the hole they have dug, just like in australia, we have 2 parties we don't trust and no other options.
Both Turkey and Israel have a highly educated population. The problem... comes from their mediocre-like leadership. Turkey can't be thought of as civilized or European... until it stops denying the Armenian genocide. Gets its troops out of Cyprus and grants full rights to its Kurdish population. Israel will never be accepted as a civilized state for Jews... let alone as a Jewish state, until it ceases to dominate Palestinians against their will. I would hope, the lessons from the flotilla fiasco... will bring both Turkey and Israel to re-assess their own policy agenda. But... I’m certainly not gonna hold my breath.
Thanks for a balanced comment. I wish we could read more comments like that instead of those full of hatred and incitement. Balanced approach could help educate people and not brainwash them.
As a German with Turkish background I would like to express my respekt to this comment! And in principal to all the readers of Haaretz. I wish we had such a balanced news-source in Germany or Turkey!
...more Turkish citizens died on that flotilla raid than Israeli citizens by Hamas rockets in the past 3 years.
Then lets compare 60.000 we have lost with PKK who is supported by Israel for acouple of years HA????
Israel gave Turkey 3 Heron's early 2009 with Israeli soldiers to use them against PKK. When Germany and USA would not modernize Turkish tanks and aircraft for the reason that they would be used against PKK Israel did it. Israel has been and still is the only real friend of Turkey despite AKP and Erdogan. But as always Turks are very good in choosing the wrong side just like what they did in WW I.
Diplomatically things have not been going well with Turkey.and I, am concerned that the hardliners in Turkey are moving that country more and more to the Islamic world, where they may encounter far greater suppresion of their freedom of thought than a few squarkings of the EU commitee for membership.. Hardliners, un-opposed, usually lead their countries into disaster; perhaps Mr. Netanyahu could pay attention and not let the entire Middle East self-destruct into oblivion. Brains not brawn is what is required.
Turkey's ruling party is aligning itself with Shias in Iran.
Turkey's muslim population, including everyone in the ruling party, is Sunni. They have no alignment with the Shias.
Since Israel was the offending party, any moves to save the relationship should come from it.
And the demands presented by Davutoglu are fair demands, no doubt. Israel is just too arrogant to accept the crime and its consequences as always.
Turkish IHH Boat decided to challenge Israel's authority on the Gaza shores. This authority was negotiated under an agreement signed by Israel and the Palestinian Authority in 1992.
That's why Germany just banned that "humanitarian" organization IHH. And in answer to Erdogan, the U.S. does not protest when terrorists are killed, unlike Erdogan, who "protesteth too much".
Germany would do anything Israel requests, in terms of Israel, Germany is an apple-polisher
Different organizations, there are 8 under the same name. Go read the news properly then comment.
how easily you throw that term around. i gotta go now and clean the "terror mold" from between my shower tiles
Germans killed your grand parents. They wont protest against you guys no matter if you kill their own people. Also Israel is the 52nd state of America, of course US won't comment, it was their own doing.
The IDF generals as well as the current government should be extridited to Turkey, and spend some time in a Turkish prison. That's were they belong.
It will be better for the world.
For the time being Turkey is buying drones and other military equipment from Israel and it was reported this week Turkish officials are coming to Israel for further negotiations. I think it is extremely stupid of Israel to supply modern equipment to a country that can become a bitter enemy any minute. It could be better for the world if Israel dropped Turkey
Read Jane's. Israel will be one of many supplier of that tech soon. Besides, Israel is the one who would lose more from failed arms trade with Turkey -- Israel's main export is arms basically.
Actually it is stupid to sell weapons to a country that could use it against them any minute. How did Israel not see that coming?
They don't recognize that the world is changing and it is changing fast. Or may be they do... But they want to keep the status quo since its suits them...
We don't need Israel as much as Israel needs us as Israel becoming isolated in the middle east and the rest of the world. There is no point of telling to Davutoglu, why not try to speak to Liberman istead for a change. They were the one used excess force and killed our citizens in an intenational water. Get a life Mrs. Clinton at least your husband was better democratic person then you are.
Hey Harun, we dont need Israel that is all, you dont need to get in to who needs who stuff. We dont need them, and their fake friendship, and these unfair ignorant comments. I am very sorry what Ottoman Empire has done for them.
Should I also feel sorry for what Israel did for Turkey? Lifting the US embargo that was established after Cyprus invasion of Turkey, stopping many Armenian Genocide bills at the US congress and Senate, Modernizing the Turkish military equipment when no other country would do, supporting Turkey in the Cyprus conflict while all Arab and Muslim nations (except Pakistan) support Greece? Well I don't feel sorry because there are many good educated secular modern Turks who are Israel's friends and will always be.
The secretary is absolutely correct in what she says, that a severe fall-out between the two countries is likely to have a severe negative affect in the region. The problem is, without appropriate and fair accountability, the issue will probably remain in deadlock.
just apologize and compensate
Apologize to Israel for your provocation.
To ask for an apology after killing 9 of theirs in cold-blood. Spit on their graves why don't you and then wonder why people in Turkey are burning Israeli flags. Is it chutzpah or sheer derangement?
You want Turks to apologize for provocation when you have blood of women and children on your hands? Is that what your religion teaches you?
It's like a comedy act.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his colleagues instigated the action which ended up with Turkish and foreign nationals getting killed, in spite of knowing that Israel is determined to defend itself against such actions. The rank hypocrisy out of Turkey is breathtaking in its brazenness, and Secretary of State Clinton should be admonishing Turkey for deliberately imperilling strategically important relationships, for the sake of gaining cachet with Iran and its terror proxies: Hamas, Hezbollah and Syria.
Turkey must apologize for it's support to a terrorist organization. It seems that with an extremist government in power they forgot our years of friendship not to mention our aid and hospital fields we sent during their major earthquake. I doubt they'd do the same for us in a similar situation.
She cant feel the pains of the victims
Absolutely right! All those diplomacies by any nation on earth era like whispers in the vast wild: they will never listen to anybody, nor will ever come to their senses..
This is one big game!!!!!!!!! CHP must prevail in the next elections for the sake of Turkey!! and Turkey needs to start negotiating more with China and Russia! I think that is a good idea :-) As for the Turkish/Israeli relationship I think it will survive however both governments are damaging the possible prospect of peace in their countries so both the Turkish and Israeli governements need to change! What happened on the flotilla was awful but I feel Erdogan could have prevented all of this as well as the recent sickening PKK terrorists attacks!
Of course Turkey should have good relations with Russia China and many other countries however it would be a big mistake to do this in the expense of the relations with USA and EU. BTW: My wife is Chinese and I am very close with the Chinese diplomatic circles in NY. Chinese see Turkey with a good doze of distrust. Partly for historic reasons and partly for the Uighur issues. Turkey can have very good business relations with China but a strategic one very difficult. Although I have no relations with Russian I can say that similar problems exist with Russia also on several levels, such as the Turkish support for Chechens and Azerbijan. So stick with the west and NATO. Iyi geceler
PKK are not a terrorist organization - they are a liberation group looking to establish a homeland for their people and to get out from under the Turkish boot. Turkey is occupying their land and uses disproportionate military force to maintain the occupation. Free Kurdistan now.
Kurdish and Turkish people are brothers. They have been living together for thousand years. It is often difficult to differentiate who is turk or who is kurd. PKK is a tool of the enemies. They are a terrorist organization and baby killers.
Kurd's and turks well never be brother rather we are enemy , if you mention the PKK baby killer so why don't you look to turkish lotter's army which it kill even the natur not only baby's and elder kurds,, so is this really brothership so how dose the enemy look like,, the time of the bullshit of the cruel turks is over we well never believe the turks and never accept as brother,,,
whoa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One Turk is saying that they are brothers and the Kurd is saying that they are enimies, and I know a lot of Turks and Kurds who are very good friends. So which comment seems positive and peaceful I wonder.
YEKBUNE ELKAN AZADEI KURDISTAN Free Kurdistan now. Turks destroyed our villages killed many at Dersim my fatherland now they call it tunceli. I don't belong to PKK but in 1978 I was tortured in Turkish police station with electric then I escape to Oslo.
1. Apology, 2. compensation and 3. lifting of the blockade.
Don't bring up the Armenian slaughter, or the soliciting and government approval of shahids to board the Marmara, or the arguement to buy Iran's vastly inferior drones instead to hunt the PKK in order to raise Erdogan's blood pressure even further and make him eat crow. Just feed the Turkey some Herons to calm him down.
US and Israel have already been supporting PKK for their secret benefits. Now they are playing their cards againt Turkey. Clinton is saying lie!
utterly ridiculous... this country openly supports a fake charity that openly supports hamas and provides funding, yet the US is aiding Turkey? get real... my country's govt throw too much money at too many countries...
I want no aid from the US! Why? Well becouse of US we cant deal with PKK. Becouse of US my country has become a dog. Becouse of US PKK is getting wepons. Thank you for US help we appreciate it! (Only economic aid was the marshall plan) Thank you by the way I have nothing against the US they are just perserving their interests, I have something agaisnt my government who dont do anything about the reasons above.
due to Erdogan who is turning towards Iran, now Turkey a NATO partner has become unreliable. How dare he ask from Israel to lift the Gaza blockade since this is Israels decision for security reasons. The rulers Hamas in Gaza being detected as a terrorist organisation trying to destroy Israel. Let Clinton confront Erdogan on this subject. Shalom from Holland
Hey why dont you come and stand with Israel, it makes 20 million together, it will be fun to squeez you with 75 million here. I remember you have surrendered in four days with 400 dead (from hunger by the way) in the 2nd world war. Stop making provocations guarded by all europe there in the other edge of the world. We were friends and we can solve our problems, we dont need the suggestions from cowards. I know how you behave to Turks and Morrocans there!
your comment is very opinionated and baseless. Holland is the most bigoted country on anything that is remotely related to Islam. your words hold no weight in this discussion unless you show impartiality.
Considering the ways Dutch treat and view Turkish and Moroccans which falls into the definition and range of racism.
Disgusting. The Kurds are persecuted and deserve a country.
You mean the dialogue is important to the US (and Israel) to have any influence in the region! Good luck Clinton with your advice.
Turkey hold your ground. America and Israel are the trouble makers in the middleeast.
Boy, has she aged. Maybe its the stress of keeping her stories straight.. She has to spin in her head "what story is it this week'? "I love settlements, oops, no thats my NY senator story, not my Secy of State story. " It's aging her. Don't forget travel-gate, whitewater-gate, cattle future-gate. Way too much on her mind.
Netanyahu: "No compensation, no apology, no international probe but we want good relations with Turkey." good Luck!
You have waited too long.
Israel now has growing economic and military ties with Greece. They have allowed IAF jets to fly there which is the distance - Iran and Greece has the S-300 anti aircraft system Iran wants to buy and Israeli pilots have been training with that. Greece wants Israel to modernize its military so we might lose Turkey but we are gaining Greece and there is potential for closer ties with Greece than Turkey because its not muslim. Also frienship with Greece is potential to get into the European markets more
Don't forget "Zionist Forever" Greece is not Muslim but it is B R O K E. I wish you good luck trade with her but don't expect to be paid.
Enemies? not any more, we have established trade and touristic releations and are no longer considered to be enemies. Did you not know Turkish PM went to greece with the greek colours on his tie...
It is really wise to choose Greece over Turkey.. :)) By the way you just don't know how much Israel is hated. It is going to another relationship failure for Israel in ten years because the nations do not feel the same closeness as the governments and military sources do. Just like the relations between Turkey and Israel. And believe me, Israel will not be able to find any nation who really like Israelis unless you stop acting like a pirate.
Germany, Spain, Portugal they were not muslims either. Go read your own history what you had from nonmuslims. Ignorance again. Don't you get proper history classes in Israel??
as long as you have money you will find friends. Like in school ; rich kids always havef riends though not sincere and honest but whatever you do they always pat on your shoulder and say well done dude.
Always convenient to forget it was the muslims who protected you throughout history!! Shalom.
so you think only Muslims hate you?Do you watch anything else other than Israeli propaganda which shows only Muslims against you and that the whole world loves you? only the US is on your side because of the strong jewish lobby, but hear this, you don't have many admirers on this earth. not because you're jewish, but because you have no value for life.
First of all, are you sure the Greece will and can pay for those weapons? And secondly, are you sure friendship with Greece will get you into the EU markets? I think otherwise for we have had it with the irresponsible Greeks. typically Israel picking the wrong friend again for the wrong reasons.
I used to believe that Turks were good friends. MERT people who would never abandon their friends in their darkest hours. However However AKP and Erdogan proved me to be wrong. Erdogan dropped his friendship with Israel when Israel most needed it when he accused Israel in a very bad way at Davos. He aligned Turkey with Israel's enemies such as Iran and Hamas. On the other side Israel helped Turkey in her darkest times. Israel influenced USA to lift the US embargo of 1974, helped capture Ocalan, sold Turkey military equipment when other western countries would not sell.
