Why should Obama win back Israeli hearts? Obama protecting the rightwing Jewish American donor base is understandable. A complacent Israeli public is more likely when American Presidents' sprout their endless garbage re 'unbreakable bonds' along with the substantive acts of American support mentioned in article. And a more complacent Israeli public will then either actively engage in (or ignore) the continued Jewish colonisation of Palestinian land. The one thing that will not happen is Israelis taking any words of caution from Obama seriously - and that is, if he in fact provides any words of caution. All we have seen so far is Obama doing the donkey big time for Israel. The US has been able to ignore the valid pleas for justice from Palestinians; what makes Israelis think that, at some time in the future, when Zionism falters, that the US will not be quite competent to also ignore their belated pleas for justice.
