Ahmadinejad inaugurates Iran's first unmanned bomber
In live TV ceremony to mark national defense day, president unveils country's first long-range attack drone.
By ReutersIran unveiled a prototype long-range unmanned bomber on Sunday, the latest in a stream of announcements of new Iranian-made military hardware as tension mounts over its nuclear program.
On a stage in front of military officials, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad pulled a sheet away from the aircraft, called the Karrar, which Iran says is its first long-range drone.

With the United States and Israel saying they do not rule out a military strike to stop Iran getting a nuclear bomb, the Islamic Republic has showed off new mini-submarines, a surface-to-surface missile and announced plans to launch high altitude satellites over the next three years.
The presentation of the drone came a day after Iranian and Russian technicians began fueling Iran's first nuclear power station, something Israel called "totally unacceptable".
In a speech at the unveiling ceremony, Ahmadinejad said Iran should seek the ability to make preemptive strikes against a perceived threat, although he said it would never strike first.
"If there is an ignorant person or an egoist or a tyrant who just wanted to make an aggression then our Defense Ministry should reach a point where it could cut off the hand of the aggressor before it decided to make an aggression," he said.
"We should reach a point when Iran would serve as a defense umbrella for all freedom loving nations in the face of world aggressors. We don't want to attack anywhere, Iran will never decide to attack anywhere, but our revolution cannot sit idle in the face of tyranny, we can't remain indifferent."
The exact capabilities of the new drone were not disclosed.
Iran, which says its nuclear program is entirely peaceful, has warned that any strike against its nuclear sites would be countered by measures not restricted to the Middle East region. Ahmadinejad said on Saturday an attack on Iran would be "suicidal".
Iran has said it is prepared to return to talks with major world powers but the exact nature of such negotiations has yet to be defined. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said last week Iran would not talk to the United States unless sanctions and military threats were lifted.

The range makes it a threat to Turkey and Pakistan.
The main problem that Iran is facing today is that they (the leadership) believe by trying to be the new enforcer on the block they will have it their way, well guesswhat? if you go back to your history books you will quickly learn that it was a failure in the past and it FAILED in a big way period. Iran do not just roll the dice, you have MANY DOMESTIC ISSUES so deal with them first! peace to the civilized world.
Yes... let’s stand back and watch Tehran make a spectacle of herself. Isn’t it awesome and dazzling to see the little midget unveil new military technology. The excitement and the heroics of it all. ‘Iran can be a defense umbrella for freedom loving nations’... the tyrant says. Only in his imagination is Tehran viewed as an Empire. The Islamic regime’s deep-seated feelings of cultural superiority over their neighbors. Their proud nationalism and extreme sensitivity to past humiliations... is the reason most nation-states fear Iran. The only thing the world community needs to see... is an end to the Islamic regime’s over-bloated and egoistic rhetoric. Nothing else.
AP carried a much more virulent strain of rhetoric from Iran on the development of this drone. But they also stopped short of seeing the implications it might have in the Gulf of Aden instead limiting the scope of interest to whether it could reach Israel form Iran or be supplied to it's puppets in Gaza and the Litani.
As a man who says there was never a Holocaust and vowed to see Israel wiped off the earth, thank God Israel is loaded with Weapons of Mass Destruction so those who wish to see a 2nd Holocaust will have to feel the wrath of Israel as well and Israel needs to be smart, if the world pressures Israel into giving up its WMD's, that should be the time Israel uses them Never again means Never again, Never again means never having to listen to the lies and propaganda and finding yourself in a locked door where gas is coming out The world will lie to Israel, if the world decides Israel needs to get rid of its WMD's, that is when Israel will use them
Iran is a paper tiger and Ahmadinejad is clown. Everytime he breaks wind, Israelis go into panic mode causing Ahmadinejad to laugh his fool head off. Iran hasn't attacked, lobbed a bomb or declared war on anyone since 1838. I can understand why Israel is jealous of Iran, but Israel should stop overreacting ever time Ahmadinejad yanks his chain.
you and all infidels as much or more than Haman*hissssss* did. Give thise guy the same stake he was impaled upon. Where's Mordecai and Esther whhen we really need tham? Oh right it's time for all of Israel to turn to the one TRUE G!D.
with its peaceful country need those long-range unmanned bomber drones? The world is to weak today. Hitler has made it again. The difference is that this time, we will not walk hand in hand to the death...
this man is either serious or a joker either way it is time to teach him that serious things are not to be taken lightly
The buzzzzz is it's a Revolutinary Guard soldier standing on a chair farting into an microphone on a stand.
The Karrar looks suspiciously like the V-1 of World War 2 fame. Simple basic technology capable of being mass produced quickly in numbers that will over whelm any air defence system in time. The V-1 carried a ton of high explosives and caused enough damage to make Churchill consider evacuating London for a time. Still laughing?
Israel has an improved version of the sugar daddy strategy. Not only does the sugar daddy buy the weapons for them, but he also finances research and development of Israels own weapons program. This is how Israel got into the business of being a major weapons dealer for the world and still managed to keep the sugar daddy on the hook for supplying more and more free weapons to Israel.
If you don't like Israel's deals with the US talk to congress and the Pentagon
who do not see Mullah ideology as their future
...an overwhelming majority iranians voted for the current government. the Gucci-rent-a-crowd and their USraeli backers have tried colour revolution to no effect. Get over it.
Oh, happy day. Does anyone still seriously believe that Iran only wants fissionable materials 'for peaceful uses'? 'Does anyone still seriously believe in the tooth fairy?'
Iranian pilots can't fly... Planes crashing every week.
If every country around Israel has the right to defend itself, and Israel does too, then why is Israel arrogant about claiming it? The others claim it, too, so aren't they arrogant as well?
Unmanned in order to allow ample opportunity for women and children to contribute to the war effort.
That makes them so dangerous that Israel has every right to use all means at its disposal to insure survival of Israeli citizens from Iranian stealth submarines, laser armed satellites and all those nasty things they announce every time there is some domestic problem for Ahamdinejad. They, combined with constant verbal threats, justify any amount of force Israel would wish to use against Iran in International law, even to protect Israel's interests, and there is no doubt that if lives of Israeli citizens are in stake, specially when threatened by a country that developed stealth fighter airplanes before russians (saageh, they claim it is a stealth F-5), there is no amount of force Israel can use that would be proportional, when faced with a country that claims has stronger army then Russia. So Israel can use all the force it has.
Israel is making more hints about attacking Iran than Iran is making about attacking Israel. Also, in any category of your choosing, Israel has more dangerous weapons than Iran. Lastly, Israel is in violation of more UN resolutions than Iran.
Nice dreams, Makdesi. You have already lost against Iran. Nothing you can do next. Iran is not the Arab armies of 1967, but the modern, strong, Islamic army of the republic of Iran!

How many rubber bands do you have to wind up before you let it take off? warm regards....Gregg Bowman
if using rubber band can work for a bomber plane, then that is a new iranian discovery your country should try to discover;and the iranians should be proud of.
A country that could be accepted by all nations. It's so easy ! Lift gaza blockade, accept 1967 boundaries, quit East Jerusalem, Quit 1 or 2 farms in Lebanon. Sign NPT. Release 7or 8000 Palestinians in your jails. That's the price of Peace. You'll be celebrated by all nations. And if it doesn't work ( I doubt) it's not to difficult to retake everything but then almost all nations will be with you.
conditions that you mentioned existed in 1948, but Arabs preferred to launch a war to wipe Israel off the map. \In 1967 the Arabs' attempt was repeated. Why do you think that AFTER ARABS RECEIVE ALL THEY DEMAND NOW they will be finally satisfied?
Israel is indeed accepted by all nations. It even has peace treaties with Egypy and Jordan. It has common strategic interets with the Gulf countries. I have not seen any western democracy withdrawing ambassadors from Israel. I have not seen anyhing serious of the stupid boycot against Israel. All what we got are noisy groups of civil society which are noisy but not extremely threatening. They will exhaust themselves. Part of the price of peace that you mentioned has already offered by Osrael and was turned down by palestinians. However it is going into that direction. The palestinians will probably turn down whatever it is proposed to them if it is accompanied by certain demands on them. That is an unacceptable attitude. Israel has nothing to fear. The status quo is good for her.
Five years ago the story goes: pull out of Gaza. And what happens: rockets & terror. There is only one solution for the Arabs: Gaza to Egypt & West Bank to Jordan.
go read it, then rethink why what you just said is not true
Israel has signed peace with handpicked Egyptian and Jordanian American Puppets not with their nations ... These puppets do not represent their people ... they are among the worst dictators ever and they serve the interest of their American Zionist bosses
Why don't you ask this question to Hamas. Will they let us live in Israel if we do all these concessions?
There is no customary UNSC resolution against the Arab States action or their declaration because it was LEGAL. (See UNSC Resolution 660 on the invasion of Kuwait for an example http://www.un.org/Docs/scres/1990/scres90.htm ) Israeli inherited the Jewish forces outside of it's territories. The civil war that existed prior to May 14th 1948, became a war run by a STATE against a non-state entity the moment Israel was declared a STATE. If you read the declaration by the Arab State, they outline the legal basis of their intentions and actions. They invaded Palestine, not Israel. The subsequent UNSC resolutions, cease fires, armistice agreements and peace agreements all refer to 'peace in PALESTINE' and the 'question of PALESTINE, because the 'wars' have been fought between States, over Palestine, in PALESTINE, of which Israel is no longer a recognized part. Bearing in mind that once a war has started (Plan Dalet, the preemptive war, became Israel's. A preemptive war, by it's very nature is STARTED by the preemptor. The Jewish forces Israel inherited), warring parties are permitted to target military objective IN the territory of their adversaries. So perhaps you can tell me what actual Israeli Sovereign territory was 'invaded'.
The Ministry of Propaganda.. a new release. Attack drones, long range, stealth, missiles and all the greatest high tech. Will pictures be released.? Maybe, another picture of the IAF Heron with Iranian markings. Maybe a photo op of the US Phoenix drone, or a flying saucer. The latter will definitely make headlines. Not a week passes without another incredible revelation of high tech prowess, Maybe a four meter drone could well take off, however who will control it.? Somehow one must think more in terms of model planes that are available and" fly be sight" used by kids with those hand-held controls. As for missiles, the standard Silkworm, or Scuds and Shahab, they are not indigenous. Nothing is indigenous. Submarines are slow, extremely vulnerable and are copied from WW2 Italian / German U boats that is apart for the Chinese made Kilo Class that can be picked up easily enough, due to the yet to be designed silent screws. even the dolphins/whales and tuna fish run for cover. Nope, the whole affair smacks of fear. Fear that Israel really is 40 years ahead of this grotesque and backward regime that cannot come to terms with its failings on a domestic level. Iran has a nuclear plant, congratulations, however, you did not build it, neither could you even start up without dozens of Russian technicians, you have now reached" breakout", now that is the point where every step will be watched, the Ministry of Propaganda should spend more time on breaking news vis a vis advancements in agriculture/medicine. Good day, from sunny Swiss Alps.
but US is doomed to fail there !
it didn't have a major world power providing it with free money, tanks, jet missle, nukes, guns, subs.... must be really tough and really hard to get all those you mentioned not on your own
Peter look in Ynet they have a picture of this thing it looks like a WW2 V1 rocket. It seems to be some kind of flying bomb rather than a combat UAV. I don't see this thing has the range to reach Israel based on its size and the fact it used some kind of jet engine rather than a traditional low fuel consumption prop engine. The problem is going to come when they are passed onto HIzbollah and Hamas. Their missiles the bulk of them are either imported or are reverse engineered Chinese or North Korean weapons. Iran is very good at reverse engineering and then calling it their own. Their new fighter jet supposedly an Iranian design is based on the US F5 Tiger and apparently is superior to the F18. The Shihab 3 started life a reverse engineered North Korean No Dong missile and their mini sub is also a North Korean design. This UAV looks like a V1. As for subs although they are developing some mini subs their Russian boats are designed for deep water not the littoral waters of the Gulf or Israels borders they are easier to detect that things like Israels Dolphins which are designed for use in littoral waters. The only area of agriculture Iran is interested in comes from things like fertilizer which can be used to make explosives. Irans ambitions are to become a global military power and regional superpower and they are investing billions so they can bully their neighbors and hope that if they can become a global military power ( nukes ) then it will allow them to get the west to support molding the regions future to one of Irans design.
You're correct, this is one weird looking contraption. Part Doodlebug, part Silkworm but most of all, its a Glitterbug. It does remind me of the German made drone..? At a glance, the Glitterbug should have the same range as a Silkworm. It carries a bomblet, on the underbelly. It is definitely not a controllable high tech UAV, its a flying bomb with a bomblet to confuse the media. Regarding submarines, Russia just leased a silent running Akura Class to India. To the chagrin of the Chinese Navy that still uses the Kilo Class The Kilo Class that is used in Iran is noisy and no match for the Dolphins and other naval ordinance. The F5 Tiger is been phased out over here, probably to be replaced by the Grippen or Euro-fighter. The F18 remains the leader in Switzerland. Regarding the IAF, its not just the planes, its the quality of the pilots and their training. No doubt, Iran is frustrated, they act like bullies, threatening to wipe Israel off the map. The problem is, they are so caught up in their own BS, that they now believe in in what we have just seen, a" fiddler" made Glitterbug, with all the coloured lighting and confetti. Shavua Tov.
Great talkbalk!!!!! I heard it was quiet and boring in Switzerland but I think not.
I know the difference but what you refuse to accept is that even with super super super technological capabilities US is doomed to fail as well as Israel failed against Hezbollah and Hamas. They also don't have the superior capabilities US gave to Israel.
Turkey!
yeah OTTOMAN EMPİRE=TURKEY
I mean, if you can't beat them join them.Antagonizing Iran only weakens Israels position...In fact it's stupid trying the same policy over and over again with no results...Coz from what i see,Iran's not backing down. It's high time Israel realize that the world isn't what it is like it was in the 60s where lots of people supported her...Everything's changing.Make peace with the Pals and the world will take you serious again...Godbless...
Not even with nuclear power. You got it wrong John. The world is rallying against Iran not agaisnt Israel. Tragically the fate of the palestinians worries noone.
Wake up
Iran does not recognize Israel, when Iran faces Israel in international sporting events, the Iranians are forced to forfeit because they do not recognize Israel Israel is not the country that needs to reach out
do all Hasbara keyboreds have a sticky key?
