IDF clips of clash aboard a Gaza flotilla aid ship viewed by some 3 million people Wednesday. Al Jazeera video of same incident comes in fourth with 616,000 views.
By Ayala Tsoref Tags: Gaza flotilla IDFIn the online public relations arena, it appears that the Israel Defense Forces is winning the battle, at least for now. Three of the four most viewed clips on the popular video website YouTube in recent days were posted by the IDF Spokesperson's Unit.

The videos were posted after a clash between Israeli navy commandos and activists aboard a boat carrying aid and heading toward blockaded Gaza resulted in 9 deaths and dozens of injuries early Monday morning.
The most watched YouTube video on Wednesday was a clip depicting Israeli navy commandos being propelled down from a helicopter onto the Turkish aid ship Mavi Marmara and subsequently being beaten by the activists on board.
This video reached an astounding 1.2 million views as of 7 p.m. Wednesday Israel time. This video was taken from an adjacent Israeli navy vessel.
Another video, this one taken from an Israeli military helicopter, also garnered close to one million views.
A third clip, which includes a soundtrack of communications between the commandos, was viewed by over 650,000 people. Overall, videos posted in recent days by the IDF have gotten some 3 million hits.
An Al Jazeera video, which shows the activists on the boat running away from IDF troops, was viewed by 616,000 people as of Wednesday evening, bringing it to fourth place. This was the first video that was posted online following the tragic event, hours before the IDF spokesperson's Unit posted its videos.
On Tuesday, the YouTube battle between IDF and Al Jazeera was still close, but the IDF clips claimed the lead overnight Wednesday (daytime in the U.S.)
The operators of YouTube have decided to block the response option on all videos pertaining to the event.

#11 Natalie: See #22 pr wars #14 Tony Silver: Read your history, and not Biblical. Late 1800's; Jews bought the land and rejuvenated it. Economy improved so Arabs came to work. Arabs attacked Jews. Jews won. They earned the land and the country. ALSO: Israel and Gaza are at WAR. Didn't you hear? #17 Welshman: Check Youtube. There is a video showing "peace" activists getting ready to attack. They didn't know they were being photographed: it is from the ship security camera. Now we sit back and see how far these deniers will go in ignoring truth.
are you listening, US army? next time you want to go out and kill some arabs (illegally of course), take some notes.
I just thought I'd point out that viewing an IDF video doesn't mean you support Israel's position. I've watched them all for example and I certainly don't. Let's see the full unedited videos taken by the activists as well.
The IDF confiscated all material, It better take care about copyright violations. It is alo forbidden to edit copyright material without the owners consent.
.....were Jewish supporters of Israel....???? It's fair to assume, that at least half of them matched that description, so it might very well be a case of "preaching to the already conver- ted".......
These comments show the calculated blindness of people. The fifth explanation (Five Explanations) is tried to be shown to be false by other ridiculous statements. Yet it is true (sorry). The soldiers came aboard with PAINT BALL GUNS cocked and were ATTACKED. All you see now is the Arab propaganda machine. The IDF films speak for themselves except to the blind that are with us. As for law: READ international law and don't make it up to suit you. READ how hostages must be visited by Red Cross (ie Shalit). For those that show how little they know or think, they are mighty selective in calling their made up laws into play. Forgive the Israelis for actually defending themselves in the trap that was set. I know; you can't because of your self inflicted blindness.
The Israeli authorities didn't send the custom control boat to inspect the vessels. It was a military operation performed under the veil of night by the specially trained commando spectacularly landing from the helicopters. If the military, which landed the foreign vessel and thus the foreign territory in neutral waters, was met with little warm feelings from its passengers, it is more than understandable, and the assaulters should say thanks the pistol which is normally in captain's possession, was not put in use in self-defense. If the eagles landing from the sky quickly and equally spectacularly ended up overboard, accounts either to some stupidest kind of military miscalculation on the IDF's part or to their expected psychological effect of b-war-movie paraphernalia. But to claim that the civil flotilla nearly "lynched" the Israeli patrols and that those acted in self-defence is tantamount to claiming that the six flotilla passengers chased the IDF boats into Israeli territorial waters, there surrounded them, boarded them, threw the ropes to the hovering helicopters and climbed the ropes up en masse with their kitchen knives in their teeth. This self-victimization of the Israeli marines seems truly unprecedented, even if we take on account that the world is a spoiled spectator of the official IDF emissions in the fantasy series.
Israel can show her country is fair and just by controling the perimeters. Israel can use this opportunity to turn her battered image around and allow the world a glimp at her justice system by allowing Americans and Turkish enjoys to join in a joint investigation
I don't know, what do you want the IDF to check, seriously. Cameras took what could be taken. If there are complaints, they will land at an Israeli court. Oh, and don't talk about Turks. Why not invite Iranians and members of Hamas too?
What the terrorist supporters don't get is that from now on Israel films everything it does so they can no longer lie to the world about the 'Evil zionist Jews' The internet is a godsend for the truth because facts can not be disputed-sorry Muslim extremists You finally are outed as the liars you have always been-some of the best vbideos show Palestinians holding a supposed dead child to the news camera only they didn't know Israel was filming too-moments later same child is playing soccer in the streets- the truth always comes out in the end.
I hope they are fine and recovering from this.
The Arab dictatorships make it such that you can only see Al Jazeera, uh? And these guys understand Arabic so Al Jazeera is the less biased source of information? I feel sorry for them.
For me it evokes the image of someone bitten by a mosquito uses an atomic bomb to kill the insect. Given the disproportionate action against activists of the Gaza flotilla, now the paranoia of the Israeli establishment has created martyrs. And, unfortunately, increasingly the image of murderers has been linked to the Israelis around the world.
If you've got anything better to help keep future mosquitos out than showing the bodies of their fallen follows after they were warned about the anti-mosquitoes device (I mean, to make people respect the legal blocade), please submit it. We can make sure you get your Nobel afterwards.
I wonder when Israel will give all of the cameras and recording devicdes back to the flotilla passengers and crew? I also wonder if they will be 'edited' or 'lost in transit' because i (and a whole load of other people!) are waiting for the other side of the story to come out Israel has had its chance to release its side of story ala PR editing style. Now it's the chance for the truth.
You and the world can't handle the truth. Watch the videos and see the "peace activists" behaving like animals. Ask yourself what would you do? Let yourself be killed or defend? Stop lying and acting so self righteous--the truth is already out there.
This is the only side, I'm afraid that you can't accept it. Do you think that seen besides other armed pacifists, the stun grenade will look like a candy? That won't happen... Or will you unconsciously (or consciously) just identify with the man behind the camera? That might happen.
then we can see if the IDF is right or wrong
And let's make a blocade over Youtube to get more than 10 minutes of broadcast per video. And let's shoot the whole thing again because obviously when on board you can't hold a camera while being attacked by pacifists.
Bump, de, Bump Bump!
Considering your usual daily, verbose, Israel-bashing psychobabble, it's truly refreshing to see a nice short posting. Less reading of your is always a good thing.
The British and the US bright idea to allow european jew to settle on land they claim they have a right to because of biblical reasons? If they think they are Gods chosen people that's fine, but they cannot force their beliefs on other people. That's their religion and bible. All religions and bibles are man made used to control and brainwash. No ... See Moreone should be forced to accept their right to exist. Land was taken from the Native Americans, they were murdered for the land which we live on, do they have a right to take your land you now live on and dictate and control your life? The U.S supplies Israel with weapons and send them taxpayers money. Even if they did have weapons on the ship, why can't the palestanians have weapons. It's a double standard. Just like Iran. The U.S and Israel can have nukes to defend their countries, why can't Iran. No country should have nukes, but if the U.S and Israel can have nuke every other sovereign country should be able to have them.
Whereas Israel has HAD to become strong in order to deter its neighbours from their stated intention.Hamas charter is to destroy Israel, and it uses its citizens as human shields, killing anyone who disagrees with it.Today it refused the urgent aid passed via ashdod from the ships
on the ship.He says that he twice failed to become a martyr, but was hoping to become one on the journey.Really! Is there anything left to say. Most of the people were ant Israel and/or were used by Hamas (taken in) for political reasons.
Sure they are authorized to board a terrorist ship that had been warned to turn around and follow to Ashdod but the flotilla refused. They had been warned a number of times but they did not heed to the warning by the navy. So, there you go. Get yoursel educated.
On the 3rd video, some guys are smoking cigarettes. If the situation were really that bad, they would not have been smoking cigarettes. Just an observation.
He smoked cigarettes at his father's funeral.
In American states that carried out the death penalty, most allow witnesses to watch the death. There was never a shortage of volunteers, especially in the hanging states or the electric chair states. This does not mean that those people liked or respected the criminal or the crime. They were just attracted to scenes of death. I suspect that the IDF is the only "military" organization in the world that officially uses youtube for propaganda purposes. This is the thing that people may want to ponder on.
Oh, but Al Jazeera shows information. But... wait.... then the IDF showed a real footage aswell. It all becomes clear now, Miss DURRson?
Please refer to my other replies, listen to the would be martyr from the ship hoping to be one.Yes the anti Israel lobby have a 'good(?)' PR,and for some reason Israel is not good at stating their case at times. So youtube is a good place to get the truth across.Cameras dont lie.

Viewings of death-row executions are usually very small, private proceedings (5-10 people), limited to a few members of the victims' and prisoners' families. Only in the Islamic world (i.e. YOUR world) are public executions (of the most gruesome, bloody, barbaric varieties) a spectator sport attracting thousands of onlookers who cheer the bloody spectacle. Sick, sick people, your kind.
just enable the comments to see what the viewers think and came back few days later and tell us who won the "battle" :-)

next time let boats enter to Israel water and sink them
I hear that the comedy channel has also expressed interest.
The truth hurts doesn't it? You just can't take it that the brave soldiers of the IDF were justified in defending themselves. Sorry!
The journalists who came along with the IDF were not allowed to report from it. They blocked communications from the ships. They stole their mobile phones, cameras and laptops. Then locked up all the activists without allowing them to contact the outside world for a few days. It's the usual Israeli propaganda machine in action again, proving that it's easy to win a media war when you censor everyone else. Congratulations!
In July 2006, the IDF thought it was a good thing to be the only army to let the enemies get home with some souvenirs. Israel's CEO saw the idea resulted in a net decrease of popularity, fired many people and stopped the practice. Since then, it works just fine, as any army in the world does.
That the tragic results of the forceful takeover of the ships should have been anticipated, is clear. If you let a few commandos slide down ropes into a small ship loaded with 600 passengers, there would be two possibilities: 1. The one I anticipated, which is that the passengers surround the attackers and throw them overboard, or 2. The attackers pull out weapons and then all hell breaks loose. Unfortunately, the brainless Godzilla decided to take over the ships by whatever force was necessary. An alternative method should have been used from the very beginning of such siege-busting flotillas. (I am opposed to the siege, but once this is the policy, a wiser enforcement should be used.) IDF commandos could have disabled the motors of a few ship either in port or while moving at sea. Alternatively, Israel could have let the ships pass, then come at night and disable them in the Gaza shore. The result would have been that the 700 pilgrims would have been stuck in Gaza for weeks, and Israel could have allowed them out slowly, and after the payment of fines. This would have served as a discouragement for others to repeat the exercise. Unfortunately, the IDF has grown into a Godzilla, with brute force as its sole means.
1. From the very beginning, there was a coward named Olmert too busy with corruption to keep an eye on the exterior world and the Gaza tourism fashion. Bibi just fixed that. 2.
5. Our attack party was vastly outnumbered, and was attacked by the passengers. We had to shoot in self-defense. 4. We had intelligence of a big fat terrorist on the ship who wouldn't fit into one of the Gaza tunnels from Egypt. He had to be stopped. 3. Turkey didn't learn to behave after the "low chair" incident. We had to teach them a stronger lesson. 2. Now Iran will get scared of us and will stop their nuke program. 1. We wanted Egypt to open the Rafah crossing and take over responsibility for Gaza from us. It worked!
Well done! Little Israel has won! We are in the news again!
No wonder as all video/audio material of the people onboard the ships were confiscated...
so,they are simple a part of the story!
Yours? Absolutely pathetic response.
easy to say the PR battle has been won. it would have been interesting to see what people actually think of the images. for the second one with the Israeli speed boats along the Mavi Marmara, I watched it twice, and can't help myself thinking: yes the guys on the boat try to repel the aggression from the commando, and they are right, this boat is in international water and no Israeli soldier should come on-board...
I would suggest that the writer check with internation law experts. US stops suspected Iranian vessal very often.
The blockade is legal, as is boarding in international waters. In fact. it is the only place to do it. Would you prefer that the IDF boarded the boats in Gazan waters, within reach of Hamas rocket fire?
It is lawful to enforce a legal blockade in international waters. Again, law and practice are clear. If there is no doubt that the offending ship/s have made a firm determination to break the blockade, then the blockade may be enforced before the offending ships cross the line into domestic waters. Again the United States and other Western countries have frequently boarded ships at high sea in order to assure their security.
Wrong Jean Mouette, If you know that an illegal is approaching then you have the right by international law to confront them in international water. Simple Truth.
the US has UN resolution backing up open sea inspections. Israel doesn't, hence raid constitutes an act of piracy against a NATO flagged ship. Double crime: piracy and attack on NATO.
And with good reason.
At the price of Israels reputaton sinking to the lowest of the low in the eyes of the entire worlds media. What an incredible failure yet again. Whats next. your neighbours and Turkey declaring war? On your own.
Let's get on a boat and make a huge party with lots of illegal stuff in international waters! No one can stop us!
If they had 'blockaded the perpetrators BEFORE entering their country,it would not have happened. The more I read these comments the more I equate anti Israel with antisemitism! I have no time for extremism,Muslim,Jewish or any other
International law states that in some cases a country can act in international water if it's in self defense. In this case the IDF wouldn't take the risk any of the 6 ships would break through so close to the shore, as-well as the need to keep a safe distance from Gaza to avoid rocket fire. And if we're more proportionate, the flotilla clearly states it wants to break the blockade, and the encounter took place 60 km outside Israel's waters. Look it up yourselves. Haters gonna hate ^^.
