Israeli cabinet approves bill to protect Referendum Law from courts
Renewed issue of public approval for withdrawals from sovereign territory goes to Knesset for preliminary vote on Wednesday, before summer recess.
The cabinet on Sunday gave its backing to a bill that would turn the existing Referendum Law into a basic law, which would give it semi-constitutional status. The bill is scheduled to go to the Knesset for a preliminary vote on Wednesday, just before the Knesset adjourns for its summer recess.
