An inter-ministerial committee has recommended that the state increase the aid given to Ethiopian immigrants in order to enable them to buy apartments.

The move is also aimed at preventing members of the Ethiopian community from moving to slum neighborhoods.

The committee also recommended that the state allocate assistance to cities inhabited by large Ethiopian communities.

Absorption Minister Ze'ev Boim said the committee's recommendations, the cost of which is estimated at NIS 117 million, would be implemented next year.
