China rejects Israel's call for tougher sanctions against Iran

I would like to make the point that the delicate relationship between Israel and China is of critical importance for the next decade, and it pays well for the government of Israel to invest some energy into this. China is a strategic rival to the US, and has tended to perceive Israel in that context. As we shift from unipolar world back to a multi-polar world, Israel needs to make some critical adjustments in the way it positions itself in the world. Here are some of my realpolitik advice for the Israeli government: 1. Refrain from criticizing China over its human rights record. This might include demonstrating some 'sensitivity' towards Chinese government's 'concerns', and not voting with US in the General Assembly on issues of critical concerns to the Chinese. 2. Refrain from contacts with the Dalai Lama, even on an unofficial level. 3. Increase educational exchange with China. 4. Make the painful shift to full renewable energy and lessen dependence on oil.

What can you expect from a Communist country of sweat shops, no public holidays, persecutes its own people, bullies small countries like Tibet,supports regimes like Burma, Iran, Syria, Russia etc You cannot expect civilised behaviour.

China's rise as a geopolitical player is positive in the sense that adds pressure to a fair negotiation between Arabs and the Israeli state. China will import as much oil as will be necessary to keep her economy going. But what will be the use if noone has fresh water to drink. The time to involve China in efforts to control Iran's nuclear weapons production was 2001. Back then China did not have such a large financial and business interests in that country. Of course in 2001, the Bush administration could not care less about Iran. US involvement was required, and that did not happen until 2005. Israelis should probably prepare themselves for a vastly different future than they have anticipated. Russia and China are increasing in geo-political power and the US is declining. I imagine the Chinese know their history and that one cannot negotiate with a fanatic regime like that in Teheran. The reasons for the Chinese stance have nothing to do with political reality but with Realpolitik.

Hypocrites - I guess we should sanction Israel, eh?

Thankfully, China recognizes another Terrorist Regime for what it is in Israel. Israel needs to shut the hell up - they are the biggest nuclear hypocrites on this planet.

During his tour in the Gulf region French DM Herve Morin said yesterday that he has informations that Iran is producing nuclear weapons. The US are informed about it at least since 1992 when the head of the Iranian military program defected to the West. A German TV team hunted him down and found him in the US, so that everyone who wants to know about the military nature of the program is now able to do so. That the material for the bomb came from Europe and here mainly from Germany is well documented by various German publications. The diplomacy of Tzipi Livni is another failure on her long list of mistakes. But the US could persuade China to abstain during a vote for new sanctions. But it is doubtful if it is not too late for sanctions to work. Iranian opposition groups have said that the first nuclear material will be ready in a matter of months.

The imposition of sanctions on Iran will only cause iran to speed up the process to achieve parity with Israel before the sanctions begin to bite. China is totally correct in it's assessment of the situation.
