Regardless how the first few hours of notification occurred, let's examine what Kissinger and Nixon did! USA airlifted military aid in huge volumes to help Israel win the War. Also food stuff, medical stuff, just about everthing that Israel needed. Now, that's a friend. Never hear about any Israeli talking about USA's assistance in the Yum Kippur War that actually turned the outcome in favor of the Jews. The USA miltary and financial assitance has been abundent ever since.

I was watching "Against All Odds" last night and on it they said Golda Meir called Richard Nixon at 3:00 am USA time when Israel was at its last hope and he sent troops, etc. It said on the program that Nixon's mother read the old testament to him when he was young and told him to always be aware that Israel was God's nation and that someday God would use him to save that nation.

Kissinger altered the course of American Middle East foreign policy in a way that puts Israeli interests above the national interest. It's now kosher to give blank checks to tiny foreign countries in the billions and who cares such a tiny country is rich and Africa where the need is great and more people by the hundred of millions get less. Because of Kissinger, Americans inherited a policy that gave Americans gas shortages and gas lines, Lebanon intervention where Marines died protecting Israel in 1982, bombing Qaddafi, Iraq war and oh yeah, a little incident called 9-11 and a war on terror. Did I mention enmity of the entire world and billions of taxpayers money wasted-as peace and security remains elusive for Israel and her endless victims. Policy matters! The only winners are the war merchants and the warmongers-- AIPAC and those endless other groups never saw an Arab or an Arab nation ( and now Persians) it didn't want America to fight.

Having a friend that was one of Henry's aide's during this time gives a good perspective on this. President Nixon was never distracted by personal problems when it came to defense and foreign policy. Israel should not be shocked by this. Kissinger has screwed over many countries eg. It is not as if the United States had been attacked is it? Taking the US defence status to defcon 3 was a reasonable measured approach ensuring that the Russians knew the Americans knew about the attacks, and to keep out of it. Then if I remember rightly the US provided ammunition which ensured Israeli victory, so what exactly is Israel whinging about this time? Not to mention the fact Israel had a nuclear arsenal to ensure that it would'nt be annihilated at this time.

To Nixon's credit- he graciously accepted kenedy's victory despite being aware ,as we all are now ,that the election was stolen[something Gore was incapable of doing when he was defeated by Bush] Must he not also be credited with preventing an all out war between Russia and China when China began installing nuclear missiles along Russia's border? Wasn't Russia about to launch a preemptive strike when Nixon successfully intervened to prevent it from happening! Would Watergate have happened if Nixon had not had his victory against Kenedy stolen from him? Would Cardinal Spellman have asked Joseph Kenedy to intervine with his son on behalf of Cardinal Diem,the brother of the then president of Vietnam, to escalate America's involvement in vietnam if Nixon had been president and not Kenedy? Wasn't Nixon the president who began the thawing of relationships with both Russia and China?

By all accounts -Nixon ,in his final days as president ,was suffering from severe bouts of depression and alcoholism and was deemed, by both kissingsr and Haig ,as being incapable of making rational decisions. Nixon's assessment of kissinger's likely response toward Israel is reasonable but wrong.He did not take into account the Jewish propensity for bending over backwards to appear whiter than white. Thanks G-d for Kissinger...He made the Chinese Miracle,plugged out the USA from Vietnam and was somewhat helpful in the Yom Kippur War...Best of all,he took care of the AMERICAN INTERESTS...He and alexander Haig were the only sane people in the Nixon White House loonie bin...
