Biden to Israelis: Mideast status quo unsustainable
Vice President says that Palestinians, Israelis must decide for themselves if they want peace.
By News Agencies and Haaretz Service Tags: Iran Middle East peace Israel newsUnited States Vice President Joe Biden warned Israelis in a direct address from Tel Aviv on Thursday that the status quo in the Middle East was not sustainable, and vowed that the United States would do everything in its power to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
He also urged both Israelis and the Palestinians look toward direct negotiations to end the long-standing conflict.
"The demographic realities make it difficult for Israel to be a Jewish homeland and a democratic country," said Biden in his speech to foreign dignitaries, Israeli officials and students at Tel Aviv University. "The status quo is not sustainable."
"To end this historic conflict, both sides must be historically bold," he said.
Biden's speech came two days after a row erupted between Israel and the U.S. over Israel's announcement that it is to build 1,600 new homes in a Jewish neighbourhoood of East Jerusalem. The vice president and the White House both condemned the decision Tuesday, saying that it damaged chances of resuming talks between Israel and the Palestinians. The Palestinian Authority has said that talks are on hold until Israeli construction is halted in East Jerusalem, an area the Palestinians intend to make their capital.
On Thursday, however, Biden sought to play down the latest tensions between Washington and Jerusalem, repeatedly stressing the close ties the two nations share. The United States, the vice president said, has "no better friend than Israel." He did, nontheless, reiterate that such moves jeopardize the fragile peace process.
He said that the U.S. stands beside the Jewish state in the face of external threats, including the "insidious campaign to challenge Israel's right to exist."
"Every day Israel faces threats no country should have to endure. America stands with you shoulder to shoulder facing these threats. The United States stands firmly next to Israel against the scourge of terrorism," he said.
"We lead the fight against the campaign to question Israel's legitimacy," said Biden. He stressed that Israel-U.S. ties are "impervious to shifts in partisan politics."
But, the vice president said, peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians must continue, regardless of obstacles that may arise along the way to peace.
"The most important thing is for these talks to go forward and go forward promptly and go forward in good faith," Biden said. "We can't delay because when progress is postponed, extremists exploit our differences."
Biden said Palestinians had misunderstood Israel's announcement of the settlement plan, thinking that building would begin immediately. With no construction scheduled for now, he said, negotiators would have time to "resolve this and other outstanding issues."
On Iran's nuclear program - a major source of concern for Israel, which has heard many calls from Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for its destruction - the vice president reassured the Israeli public that the United States is committed to taking a strong stance against its contentious nuclear program.
"The U.S. is determined to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Period," Biden declared.
"Iranians are suffering under a leadership that supports terrorism," added Biden. He further said that "Iran has refused to cooperate" and that the "U.S. is determined to keep up pressure on Iran to change its course."

Since the degenerate Arab dictatorships and monarchies are actually RESPONSIBLE for the state-of-affairs--and this was even admitted by their own media in 1950's and 1960's!
...not with a bang but a whimper.
Israel is in exactly the same position as Iran On non-declaration of nuclear sites, So what is good for the goose?
The annexation of East Jerusalem was declared ILLEGAL by UNSC Resolution 252 (1968)of 21 May 1968 UNSC Resolution 267 (1969) of 3 July 1969 UNSC Resolution 271 (1969) of 15 September 1969, UNSC Resolution 298 (1971) of 25 September 1971, UNSC Resolution 465 (1980) of 1 March 1980, UNSC Resolution 476 (1980) of 30 June 1980 And yet, Israel defies the International Community.
and is known as the Churchill White Paper and clarifies how the British viewed the Balfour Declaration of 1917, announcing the British intent of a National Homeland for the Jewish people in Palestine with which land the Jewish people have been associated with for thousands of years. But when that viscose liquid apeared in the desert sands of Arabia, things seem to have changed somewhat. Therefore the status quo in Israel as Biden says is unsustainable at this time.
Comment made by certain bigots ought to be addressed, as well as comments by the US Vice-President: The problem with the ?Jewish religion? is not responsible for death threats or murders of those that disparage the Muslim religion-fanatical extremists that are not Jewish are the problem. Why do some of you who constantly criticize the Israel nation, human rights violations or tolerance, address these issues? Vice-President of the U.S. Biden seems concerned about democracy and the demographics of Israel. Perhaps he could be concerned with any form of democracy existing in the neighboring countries of Israel, which should an appalling lack of any semblance of human rights and living under absolute monarchies.
Israel continues in establishing facts on the ground. Many of these have been illegal under international law. Palestinians have had to retreat into smaller and smaller areas. Netanyahu and Lieberman have demonstrated over and over lack of commitment to a just settlement. How can the Palestinians expect any better treatment in negotiations from a powerful Israel that has always rationalized their violent aggression? The Palestinians need a sponsor to effectively confront Israel. That has to be the USA, EU, Russia and the UN.
Biden said Israelis had misunderstood Iran's announcement of the nuclear devastation plan, thinking that devastation would begin immediately. With no nuclear devastation scheduled for now, he said, negotiators would have time to "resolve this and other outstanding issues."
Yes Israel should be on the top of the agenda, lets ignore tibet which has a whole lot more people than the Palestinian-Israeli thing, lets ignore Burma, lets ignore What we the US are doing to Cuba lets ignore what is happening in Malaysia to non muslims , lets ignore saudi arabia's, pakistan's and the other muslim countrys' (aside from indonesia and turkey) treatment of women, lets ignore saudi arabia teaching kids to be anti-semitic, lets ignore zimbabwe and sudan lets ignore all of these things and only concentrate on Israel, because we all know Palestinians are far more important than any Tibetan, Burmese, Cuban or women being oppressed in other muslim countries, far more important than stopping saudi arabia teaching hatred.
So the Pals misunderstood that the building won't start for many years. Could you equate that with Ahmedinejad wanting to obliterate Israel. After all he won't want to do it for a few years to come. Why worry?!?
Don`t expect anti-Semites to differentiate between Jews who think differently from those individuals they blame. Hate knows no bounds.
He's back to groveling.
How about a bold action from Mr. Biden? Say, unless settlements stop, the US will stop funding Israel. That would be a historically bold step in the right direction to curb a rogue state behavior.
Do you think Europe is safe from Iranian nukes? Do you think Iran wants the salt from the dead sea so badly? What happens after Iran (theoretically) destroys Israel, aside from the celebration and distribution of candy???
Derogatory generalisations about ANY ethnic group - Jews, Anglos, Arabs or Greeks - is racism. And racism is the necessary precursor of genocide whenerver it occurs -in Kosovo, Rwanda, Darfur, Armenia and the Holocaust. Maybe racism is acceptable to you, but one day you may be its victim - if the Turks ever decide to complete their conquest of Cyprus, for example. Standing up to racism (and the bullies who use it) is not whinging. It's called learning from history. And those who don't learn from history are condemned to repeat it.
in any of their 57 Arab/Muslim States spread across the world, so that why is it that the Jewish State is not allowed to build anywhere even in own her homeland except in restricted zones? 'Favouritism' that is what it is, because Arabs have the OIL.....
This is precisely why Biden was nicknamed "Little Joe" when he was in Congress. So he now admits that the "1,600 apartments" the Arabs lured him into blowing up over was just a banal municipal planning notice, part of thousands of such notices issued by bureaucrats over the multi-year process of building an apartment - THAT NO ACTUAL BUILDING CAN TAKE PLACE FOR YEARS!!! So no "facts on the ground" being created that influences negotiations one way or the other - just greasy Abbas and Arab League trying to misrepresent and manipulate Israel's internal governmental processes as part of ongoing warfare. Given choice between anti-Israel propaganda and peace talks, the Arabs always choose the former. Airhead Biden and his big mouth amplified this mess, taking sides and denouncing Israel without getting all the facts (which he now sheepishly admits), and its up to him, not Israel, to correct it. Platitudes, fancy speeches in Tel Aviv won't convince Israel to trust Obama after this.
These men have no courage. They are beholden to the lies that are the foundation of their power. We are not in a state of war, and there is no holocaust machine breaking down Israel's door. The trail begins and ends with the occupation. Any negotiations aren't about what palestinians will gain, it's about what they have lost. Any offer made to palestinians must be a significant one, but Israel's end game can not provide such: A State founded on the 1967 lines. A One State solution is the only justice.
You may get away with this kind of talk here but eventually the creator of all things will have the final say. I don`t exclude myself from his judgment.
Biden should speak for himself. Judeo-Christian America supports Israel and the Land of Israel. Biden the Papist Crusader has no business preaching to Israel. His knowledge of History, the Bible and Biblical Archaeology is zero. Soaked in the cesspool of AntiSemitism that the early church fathers of Papism invented, he is just being a clone of past Papist Crusaders who ravaged the Holy Land, effected the Inquisitions and later, the Holocaust of WWII. Biden should be ashamed of himself. He should go home and shut his mouth.
Who says Israel is a beacon, and a beacon of what???? Israel is a very normal country with normal and ordinary people, some good and some bad. No big deal. This high ideal is very hard to live up to and should be leveled to a more normal level.
"The EU with its large Jewish and Muslim populations and its close ties to Israel and the Mediterranean region..." Michael/UK Sir, As many people afflicted with well known prejudice you are so shy about, you you tend to overestimate power and numbers of Jews. There are about 1 million (1,046.00) Jews in Europe and 53 millions Mohammedans in Europe and 16 millions in EU. European crimes bore fruit - Jews were murdered or left.
I love the US. It's a great country, but somebody needs to step in and tell it that it's let itself get into an abusive relationship with Israel. The US lavishes care, affection and money on Israel and in return israel spits in its face. Like a desperate parent who can't tame his violent out-of-control teenager, Biden's reaction is to use more soothing words on Israel saying that the US has no better friend than Israel. Joe, Joe, what Israel needs isn't more gentle words, it needs a trip to Brat Camp.
Please come back home and do what you have to do to correct the situation. America has been humiliated. Israel poked a finger in America's eyes, they dont need our financial, military and political support. Let them face their monting problems on their own.
You have shown a lack of class that exceeds even that of your PM and his ministers - not easy to do. You will have a great future in Israeli government, especially in the foreign ministry, where being unspeakably rude has evolved into a high art form.
for dinner... that was a direct slight and Natanyahu should have recognised it.
Quit your whinging. I hear the same thing everyday about Arabs/Palestinians and Muslims and I read it every day in these columns. I don't hear you complaining! Shame on the moderator!
Were I J. Biden, I returned immediately to the States for consultations.
only means accepting the 'Palestinian Covenant' which calls for the 'Destruction of Israel'. Read it for yourself. It's nice.....
Biden can mouth all the empty rhetoric he wants, but the fact is Israel's extremists have challenged the mightiest nation on earth, and it's the US VP who is limping away humiliated, not them. Which means that they're left in a much stronger position than when Biden arrived, and if they're in a stronger position, then so are the extremists on the other side. Way to go, Joe. Way to go.
Israel is not threatened by Iran at all. Israel has a huge pile of nukes and using the Iranian issue to create another war between the Christian West and Muslims!
Calm down and read Post 2 again: "The `Chosen People` have proved to be nothing more than thieves & liars." My friend this is racism, raw and ugly as sewage. Face up to it. Derogatory generalisations about Jews are NEVER justified and ALWAYS the product of intellectual laziness and prejudice. Not all Jews think alike or have the same opinions. Shame on the Moderator for letting it through.
The two camps seem to be uncompromising and are headed to further conflict. The instability lies in the large number of countries involved as well as non state actors wielding real power (Hezbollah, Hamas, Settlers) that are not in the negotiation loop. The Cuba Crisis was diffused because just two state actors decided to deal. Consider the following scenario. An incident is ?staged? on the Lebanese border that initiates a limited retaliation by Israel. Hezbollah escalates and hits back forcing Israel to retaliate with more force. Further escalation leads to missiles on IAF airfields, Tel Aviv and Ben Gurion Airport. Israeli reaction gets Syria involved that attacks Dimona nuclear facility. Settlers, out of control, blow up Al Aksa and the Dome of the Rock. Jordan and Egypt annul peace accord and mobilise. In the panic, with missile reigning down on Tel Aviv, settlers instigate ethnic cleansing forcing Palestinians out the West Bank and into Jordan. IAF bombs Damascus, Iran attacks Israel, US attacks Iran, Iran closes Hormuz Strait, China starts shooting down US military satellites and paralyses operations by cyber attack. The world witnesses the second hostile nuclear event, etc. etc. Everyone looses, very similar to Europe 1914 but with more fire power and no central front line. Contingency plans anyone?
Thank you Yushai. Perfect timing. You just strenghtened the palestinian position 200%. I hope this leads to the dissolution of the current racist government!!! Keep it up Yushai, keep it up!!
It's not negotiable to the UN either. Who do you think will win?
I love Haaretz
But in that case, I suggest that we should arm Palestinians to the level of Israelis, so equal chances would be on both sides ?
Biden as Vice President is short term and not sustainable.
International controlled cities The Vatican o the closest to that as it is protected by the Swiss army an agreement centuies old Mecca is not an international city no where near it, he'll of you consider it to be than Jerusalem is one now Where were these outcries fr 19 yearswhen Jordan held it ?
Well I guess the only thing you can say, much as Gideon Levy already has is that at least the sheer hollowness of US and Israel on peace negotiatons has here been ruthlessly exposed. Israel has no intention of giving up settlement activity and the US has no intention of putting even mild pressure on them to do so. All that ever comes from the US is empty words, soon forgotten. The only hope now is that the EU that for so long has lazily hidden behind the US in Middle East peace ngotiations will now be forced out into the open, centre stage and will have to take up from where Biden has so patheically left off. The EU with its large Jewish and Muslim populations and its close ties to Israel and the Mediterranean region is in a perfect posoiton to be a fair mediator and put pressure on both sides. Let's hope it's equal to the challenge.
This is the impression left by US along these years. Why not letting Iran doing the mediatory role? I doubt that the outcome would be different to what it has been achieved so far!
I suppose, Iran doesn't give a crap about what Mr. Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. is determined to do.
Exactly as I predicted yesterday, Biden bends over and takes it, with a hollow face-saving promise that the houses will be delayed and 'it'll never happen again'. Obviously construction will actually begin in a few months from now, and, of course it'll happen again.
U've already gone twice on the IMF for monetary assistance so don't play it smart on us. As for the islands if u want them come and get them, genocide ma(on)sters
The American Government is lead like sheep by the Arab world... When the American leadership smell the word Peace coming from Arab leaders, they speak of Israel not playing its part... Its like Candy in front of a 4 year old. HA! What a joke... Does the world really think that the Arab World wants peace? The world should open their eyes and see things in perspective. The Arab World wants "peace and quiet" from the rest of the world. Their meaning to "Peace" does not quite entail what the rest of the world thinks... Its been over 2000 years... you think they are going to change their minds over night? They will try and get their peace in any way or form: cheat, lie, play games and make promises... Why.. because they have a greater Purpose... and for them its enough... When we understand their purpose, it will become clear to as what they want. Open your eyes people, look around you and what this world is coming to...
first of all, we only possess 1 island and thats Cyprus, if you are confusing us with Greece then please don't. Second, Cyprus is both Turkish and Greek. Only the Turkish Army is NOT welcome here. Third, our GDP per Capita is higher than all the countries that entered Europe in 2004. How about yours? In fact Cyprus has three times per Capita GDP than Turkey. No my friend you need the money. Your Turkish army is keeping our northern neighbours poor. Nice try!
Perhaps you may consider recognizing Turkish sovereignty over our half of Cyprus? Many of the islands you posses our actually ours. Why not sell a few back to us peacefully, you surely need the money.
Of course I am jumping up and down. We have taken the Turks to court over our land in the north! And some the Arabs will smarten up and do the same. At least the Kurds today have more than the Palestinians can ever dream of. They run the north, control the oil wealth and are a major force in Iraq politics. The kurds independence has much to do with the Turks & Iranians not allow that to happen as the Iraqis. Are you asking the occupied Palestinians to compromise while the occupying force to do nothing? Wow you have some nerve....
not a big fan of Religion. But by the same token who was there first? We cannot forget 4000 years of History although it is to be admitted that today it could be a different. Arab/Muslims have become very powerful since the entrance of OIL into their lands and there is no sniffing at their Culture of one day soon living 'Under the Sword' in a u
over all occupations including Kurdistan? Have the Arabs ever offered them independence? Have the Kurds ever refused and called for destruction of all Arabs instead? Have they announced no peace ,no negotiations,no recognition? Have they got a genocidal charter? Ditto for Tibet,Malvinas and Turkish takeover of Cyprus areas by conquest.? so what is your real problem?
Aright, I understand your point. Do you prefer a one state solution were you will be a minority in 10 years and then you REALLY need to practice apartheid to keep your hold on power and maintain the Jewish "identity" of Israel?
You sure the Sunnis want them to have bomb?
and after all, Israel is already armed with Nuclear weapons. Its ok because Israel is a democracy?! LOL!! really?!! I'm no supporter of Iranian having nukes either, but I agree with Michael, deal with the Palestinian problem and see how everyone will line up against Iran and its threats towards the Jewish people and their Palestinian neighbours. Lets face it, any nuke heading in your direction might end up in Cyprus or GAZA!
The blatant lies get a reply, when I get a chance. This sloganeer does not know apartheid regimes do not allow parliamentarians, judges and other professionals and thinks there are defined established borders. Refer to her"chosen race" rants etc and you will know where she is really coming from.
in fact means the gratifying of the 'Palestinian Covenant' the aims of which are the 'Destruction of the Jewish State'. Are the Jewish people willing to give up their Homeland and live another day? or face another inevitable War against a United Front of Arab/Muslim forces. Face it, it is no longer '1967'......
I'm proud of you oh Proud Zionist...at least you stand up for what you believe in and have no shame in admitting you are no different from the Australia and how the whites stole the land from the Aborigines. Good on ya mate ;)
As I've said before I don't particularly want to see Iran with nukes. On the other hand the world is full of potentials I don't particularly want to see, like global warming, economic crises, Israel becoming a Jewish chauvinist version of Iran. What I find frustrtaing is that Israel has managed to get Iran to the top of the international agenda, when it doesn't deserve to be there. You'll note in post 4, I'm not saying leav Iran alone on nukes, I'm saying leave Iran alone for the moment to put pressure on Israel to get serious about peace. Because everything's linked in the Middle East. Israel and its fans keep on bleating that Irans has to be dealt with BEFORE Palestine, just as they did the same with Iraq. Rubbish. They want it that way so that Israel will be under no real pressure to make concessions for peace. So let's it do it the other way round. Let's say, we'll start pressuring Iran properly AFTER Israel starts withdrawing from the West Bank. Then peace can break out all over.
israel is the one who wants peace and all the land for itself, and not peace with the palestinians in a state of their own. israel is a right trickster.
Funny how you call Australia "multi-cultural" while calling Israel an apartheid regime. Do the aborigines in Australia feel good about the history of Australia? (You know, the way the whites stole the country from them through violence and disease). I guess it's OK to single out Israel, and Israel alone, though. We have become the Jew among the nations...
You see Michael, PeterSM likes to have the best of both worlds - he has one foot in multi-cultural Australia, enjoying all the benefits Australia has to offer him while he (appears to) support the apartheid occupation regime of Israel. Regards.
You sure ONLY Israel does not want a Shiite bomb? etc, etc?
or Ambassador. And your Head of State ,Queen or the King MUST be Anglican. Your finger pointing at Israel for some school children survey on arabs is yet another example of the Brit duplicity.
-ueted.
dudi,a few years ago nobody ever heard of an israeli. tilchasstisi
The Lion is totally pissed off. Whichever plans he had, the path to the Lioness, is blocked by a spitting Cobra. So, now what.? Jerusalem is now taboo. Great housing plans are currently being unveiled. The watered down sanctions against Iran by the gracious president have been seen by Israel and well analyzed. No doubt Iran will have nuclear weapons soon enough. No doubt Russia and China will veto any US attempts. Mr. Biden, the Lion, came to Israel. Mr.Biden will soon leave Israel. Mission Accomplished. PM Netanyahu the spitting Cobra has now accomplished what many Arab world leaders have dreamed of, a serious rift between Washington and Jerusalem. One can be sure, that the regime in Tehran is now nervous, for Israel is basically off the leash. So much for indigenous diplomacy.
The world doesn't recognise your holy book as your claim to Jerusalem. It does recognise you stole the Eastern part in 1967. Nice try though.
Why does my tax money go to a country that turns around and insults my vice president?? Your country reminds me of a bunch of spoiled children who are never satisfied. The trouble is my country has indulged you people for way to long. Time for you infants to grow up and fend for yourself. Your becoming more of a liability for americans than an asset.
stop condemming israel and start deducting a million dollars of aid for every house or appartment that is built on occupied land.
Rude has nothing to do with it. Being human and accepting the existence of an indigenous people that once occupied the land you currently stole has EVERYTHING to do with it.
Israeli kids feeling that way is very bad,it is bad for Israel What do you think about children taught Jews are pigs and monkeys, the enemy of Allah, who the Prophet say should all be killed, praise of child martyrdom etc?? Clearly you have no need to mention that as having any effect on making the situation so bad. Why?Do you think all this is occuring in a vacuum? No need for improvement on the other side? It contradicts the ideological "Arabs are innocent victims mantra" of the intelligencia? Now how about replying instead of changeing the subject? All the issues raised about your posts, please.!
It clear you have nothing to add except for normal anti-semitic speech! Yawnnnn....not all of us who don't agree with a country's policy want the destruction of its people. So please get off your high horse. Tell me, would any country in the world get away with this? Your Cheap comments proves your biased, shallow and nonsense opinion.
Attempting to smear me with the Protocols isn't really your style, or at least I didn't think it was. If Biden stands up and actually DOES something serious about this huge humiliation, and actually DOES something serious about forcing Israel to make the necessary concessions for peace, then I will happily modify my comments that he's under AIPAC control om issues regarding Israel. I'm not holding my breath.
No 1: The Haredi do nothing but give us heartache. they should get jobs. 2&3: Jerusalem belongs to the jews not the christians or arabs.
Until those in control AND the extremists on the WB can stop ,think, and put themselves in the mind of a 3rd generation Palestinian(it matters not WHAT you wish to call them..semantics is a game..it wont solve anything) then if they cant see why they might not like us very much there is no hope. Understanding the other side is a first step to finding ways to deal with it.Not easy but its the ONLY way
Whilst we see your point on one level, your attitudes dont solve anything, they just rub people up the wrong way.
Are there you are Pete, I'm urgently awaiting your comments on the poll that indicates 50 per cent of Israeli kids don't think Arabs should have the same rights as Jews in Israel http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1155627.html Frankly, it's one of the most worrying things I've ever read about Israel. I don't see how Israel can ever be the western democracy we'd all like it to be unless it takes huge measures to re-educate its kids, and presumably its adults as well. I hope Biden reads the article before speaking, because if he wants to know why Israel thinks its worth humiliating him in order to build another large Jews-only settlement, there's your answer. What do you think Pete? Are you, in nice multi-cultural Australia worried?
No it does NOT show antisemitism! They are saying that if there were NO RELIGEON of any kind(or if we were 'all one' there would be no conflict.Just look at Sunni and Shia, that is religeous conflict. And if it were not for the blinkered ghetto mentality extremist settlers, who see themselves as invincibly special with no-one to answer to except G-d , wew would not be getting deeper into the proverbial.Add to that politicians who are not putting their own political safety before the future safety of Israel, and what will be the outcome? AND PLEASE DONT ANYONE CALL ME SELF HATING JEW OR ANTISEMITIC.The arrogance, abrasiveness and road rage of many of us is a product of their environment anxiety and tension.
He has denounced the move loud and clear and there is obviously more coming. Lies of ommission and half truths do not add credibilty. Now tell us again how the Jews run the UK and USA? Dont forget to mention the protocolls again, just as an example of course. Powerless Arabs? Where?
Switzerland comes in a close second to Islam in neutrality. England, well, damn, what happened?
The idea of having a Jerusalem as enclave ,but not divided, administered jointly by Jews Muslims and Christians, rotating Mayors every 2 yrs,was an idea I had come up with yrs ago (like Vatican in Rome) and it was dismissed and ridiculed by friends. But it is the best solution, once peace would be agreed.Israel needs acceptance by ALL its neighbours,so ALL propositions need to be on the table. I suspect that the ultra Orthodox Jews are controlling the agenda, hence the housing announcement this week.(DISGUSTING! TIMING) We made'facts on ground' and they will destroy us if we lose all our (few?) friends including USA.When we kill our own Prime Minister(Rabin) yet celebrate Baruch Goldstein's racist act,in the controversial property recently for all the world to see,it makes me so ashamed, Hesh and his fellow orthodox colleagues will never see further than their own cloistered beliefs and have no feeling consideration or interest in any other human being.
Michael, You are partly correct in Biden should publicly state that Bibi is an idiot but to tell us public that we are idiots for electing him is wrong, why? WE NEVER ELECTED HIM... TZIPI WON THE VOTE. We all got shafted royaly but the right wing block and i for one cant wait for the day that we have direct representation in the electoral system here and become a true democratic country. Did you know in our small but glorious history not ONE prime minister has finished a full term? So yes. Slag of Bibi but not us. we decided Tzipi but we the citizens of Israel where cheated. Its like back home, no-one elected Brown and he is an idiot but what happens? new elections in May (i think) where the public will get what they want and vote for. BIBI OUT NOW AND NEW PROPER ELECTIONS. IF KADIMA WIN KADIMA FOR A KADIMA GOVERNMENT SAME IF LABOUR OR G-D FORBID LIKUD WIN
im not going to argue with you just do the simplist thing and go to wikipedia and type in zoinism and palestine and you will know that palestinians are not a new tribe, they are even mentioned in the bible the fillistines.
Israel's "commitment" last year to suspend new settlement construction, yet to materialize anywhere on planet Earth.
The road was blocked from Jerusalem all the way to north Tel-Aviv, just for the security of one man who wants to put all our lives in danger by trying to force us to make "peace" with a blood-thirsty rabble. We really don't need the USA. They are on they way out anyway...
This is an antisemitic condemnation but we could forgive him if he promises that US will bomb Iran.
This is how I would define Shas and Lieberman in the light of recent developments. A country that is under constant threat of its many murderous ennemies, cannot afford to spit in the face of its natural and faithful ally, the USA. I hope that the Israeli electors will punish these amateurs accordingly at the next general elections.
and it is not because they are pro Persians having it. Do you remember the Moslem games were cancelled over naming of Persian Gulf.? Only Israel?? Lies of ommission are still lies.!
therefore Palestinians should be allowed to stay if they keep Torah.
The Arabs build what they want in Riaad, Cairo, Damascus. Who's to tell Israel - it's ISRAEL'S capital. So the palestinians want it for their capital. Maybe the Turks and the Greeks also want it. Or maybe the Romans want it. well... TOO BAD. It Belongs to Israel. And who are these palestinians? A few years ago no one ever heard of a palestinian? Just because this newly named Arab tribe want Jerusalem does not mean Israel cannot build there. And it's none of Biden's (Barak Hussein Obama's lackey) business! Kushmeintuchus!
... can in some cases be antisemitic. Shame, shame, shame.
Will be to accede to a Bi-national State. I personally think it will create more problems than it will solve but Israel is eliminateing their options. Within 20 years the Israeli Arabs will have achieved a majority and control the country. They will most likely change its name to Palestine. Israel must understand at some point the world will force them to adhere to Int. law. Perhaps after their leaders are tried for war crimes. Or, IF they get crazy enough to attack Iran and destabilize furthur the world economy. They will be seen as incereasingly racist and the world, including the US will not stand for it. The EU will likely boycott Israeli products which will crush their economy. Take as much of the pie you can get now or you won't even be allowed at the table.
As if Bibi hasn't humiliated Biden enough, the VP is now humiliating himself further. He's apparently told Abbas that he was deliberately late for dinner with Bibi! As if that's some kind of serious diplomatic rebuke! Foe heaven's sake Biden, grow up and be a man. Stand up in public now, tell Bibi he's an idiot, tell the Israelis they're idiodts for electing Bibi and tell them that Israel's land grab is setting it on a course that will lead to isolation and possible eventual destruction. Oh and tell Israel also, that as far as you're concerned, if Israel insists on staying on its present course, then as far as you're concerned the Iranians can have nukes and good luck to them. That's what this needs, Joe, not being 5 minutes late for your dinner. What are you, VP of the most powerful nation on earth, or a 70 year old unmarried lady ex-teacher?
To #2 - Georges - whoever you are. You are a moron. Look what the Turks did to Cyprus, or maybe you are a Cypriot Turk. We are still the "Chosen People" and don't be so rude.
While poor Arabs have no political power in the USA or EU? He has allready told of the Israelis in no uncertain terms.! Poor helpless Arabs,AIPAC tells US politicians what they can say and do??
Israel doesn't care about the world's views, why should the world care about Israel's views? Only Israel is obsessed with Iran's nuclear programme, because it has become used to being able to threaten all its neighbours without fear of serious retaliation.
....or with religions in general. I'm usually not a big fan of the "religion should be prohibited" crowd, but at least the ME would definitely be a much better place without it....
If you think you can "go it alone" you are gravely mistaken. Do yourselves a favour and don't bite the hand that feeds you. Make peace with you Arab neighbours before the Persians destroy you all while you squabble over East Jerusalem. Anyway you don't deserve Jerusalem, it should be an internationally controlled city like the Vatican, sacred to Jews, Muslims and Christians. The 'Chosen People' have proved to be nothing more than thieves & liars.
Negotiable. Under no circumstance will any concessions be made on Jerusalem. And now that according to most websites the US had backed off on Iran sanctions and lied to Israel completely on that front, they have no right to expect Israel to cooperate on any other fronts dangerous to its security now that Israel is being left alone with its hands tied on Iran.
