Bat Yam shooting leaves one dead, another wounded
Police suspect incident may have been attempted mob hit; three killed in separate shootings over weekend.
One young man was killed and another seriously wounded on Monday when unknown gunmen opened fire on their car in the central Israeli town of Bat Yam.
The slain man, in his 20s, was critically wounded when found by medics at the scene of the crime. His death was pronounced at the hospital. The other victim is still be treated for his wounds.
Three people were killed on Friday in three separate shooting incidents across Israel.
A 23-year-old man was shot to death, allegedly by his roommate in Kiryat Haim.
Police received a call from a man who claimed: "I shot my friend, send an ambulance urgently." Police arrived on the scene and found the body of a young man in the apartment and the alleged shooter close by. The suspect, also 23, admitted to police that he shot his roommate following an argument between the two.
Following the investigation police declared the shot was fired accidentally and ruled out murder.
In a separate incident, a 50-year-old man was shot to death in Jaffa, in what police suspect was a criminally motivated act.
The man was shot several times while he was washing his car on Lohmim Street in Jaffa. Ambulances arrived on the scene and took the man to Wolfson Medical Center in Holon, where he succumbed to his gunshot wounds.
Tel Aviv police are investigating the circumstances of the murder and have opened a search for the shooter in Jaffa and surrounding areas.
In the third shooting incident to occur in Israel on Friday, two men were shot in the Israeli Arab city of Jatt , leaving one dead and one in serious condition.
Police are still investigating circumstances surrounding the shooting.
