Barak okays Major-General Ganz as next military attache to U.S.
Ganz, commander of IDF ground forces, also served as northern front and Judea and Samaria Brigade chief.
By Amos Harel Tags: IDF Israel defenseMajor-General Benny Ganz, currently overall army ground forces commander, is to be Israel's next military attache to Washington, under a series of senior military appointments approved Monday by Defense Minister Ehud Barak, acting on recommendations by Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi.
During his career, Ganz has served as IDF northern front commander, northern corps commander, Judea and Samaria Brigade commander, and the head of the liaison unit to Lebanon.
Under the new rotation, Ganz, will replaced at the Ground Forces Command by Major-General Avi Mizrahi. Mizrahi, now commander of the IDF Logistics branch, will be succeeded by Brigadier-General Danny Biton, who will also be promoted to the rank of major-general.
Two weeks ago, Major-General Eli Merom was named commander of the navy, replacing Major-General Dudu Ben-Bassat, who retired from the service.
At the beginning of the month, Major-General Dan Harel, overall Gaza Strip commander during the disengagement, was named to succeed Major-General Moshe Kaplinski as deputy chief of staff. Harel served until recently as military attache to Washington. He was to have replaced Kaplinski in September, but the step was deferred, in part due to tensions with Syria.
Beginning next March, Kaplinski is likely to study at Harvard University. In the future, he may contend for the position of chief of staff.

I met Gen Gantz when he was a young Captain, he was an outstanding soldier then and he's an outstanding soldier now and will do an outstanding job as the Army Attache.
...didn't post it so I'll send it again... Yoni Gross lives in Flushing, New York..I think this is near or in Queens. His father Dr.David Gross who posts occasionally lives in Israel and brought up his whole family there; he was in the IDF and like you is a rightwing hardliner..Yoni went to Yeshiva school in the WB. Dr.David isn't often here-I got an email from him yesterday "just to say hi"..he is also a trained firefighter who was at 9/11. Yoni is very religious and has told me about not carrying things in certain places, about Kruv neighbourhoods, about strict Kosher (there is a brand of food called Hebrew National which he says is not true kosher) and how you have to use one set of dishes for meat and if you use it by mistake for dairy it is not kosher any more, it's Treif (I think)and all that you can't do on Shabbat.. As for Britney, Ben, trust you-you're thinking in military terms when you thought her name was a new sort of British spear! Poor Britney...
...in military terms! The "British Spears" I mean. Britney is indeed her own worst enemy and chose the absolute worst guy possible, who now comes out smelling like a rose because she does keep jabbing herself, as you say. What she needs, and does not have, unfortunately, is some sensible advice, but there's no-one around her to give it... Yoni Gross lives in Flushing, New York, and his father, Dr. David Gross, used to live in NY but went to Israel and brought up his family there for a while...Yoni went to Yeshiva school in the WB, his brother served in the IDF (so did Dr.David) and still lives in Israel. Yoni is 25 now, his brother a bit younger...every now and then Dr. David posts to Haaretz; like you, he's a right-wing hardliner Israel supporter:) I got an email from him yesterday saying sorry he hadn't written for while, just a "note to say hi", as he wrote...he is also a trained firefighter who was at 9/11. He has a couple of posts to Haaretz right now...Yoni is very religious..
I thought you had said Yossi Gross lived on Staten Island---Britney spears drove drunk and was caught a few times--She was under court order to seek psychiatric counselling and avoid alcohol---She is her own worst enemy, sure she associated with lice and parasites that live off her--Keep in mind, she's 21, the age of responsibility---I'll tell you a funny thing, and this is true--It happened about a dozen years ago, somebody mentioned Britney Spears, so help me, I thought it was a particular style of an British Spear, a weapon---Maybe my assumption was correct, she keeps on jabbing herself---
That's all very true, and it could be thinking of his new responsibilities that makes Ganz look so severe. I wouldn't base my opinion on looks...as for Brooklyn, the only person I know lives there is Yoni Gross, and he's very religious! But regards Britney Spears, I feel sympathy...she was at the top of her career so young, eighteen, and then having two children so quickly, a year apart. Also I think that her ex-husband is a low-life loser who wants Britney's money, having no career of his own, and like a fool Britney played right into his hands by screwing up before her court date, etc, and losing her children. Which is unfair; I've seen on CourtTV and Bill O'Reilly's program women who have kept their children for doing far worse than she did. Her ex-husband already having two children by someone he didn't bother to marry should have shown Britney what sort of person he was, but....
Looks are only skin deep---When dating, both people put on their best faces---You don't know what they really are until you've been around them a while---If you're basing your opinions on looks, look at the movies stars---All smiles and rotten to the core--Lohan, Spears and the rest, drunk, married or shacked up time and again---I hope a nice guy with a smile doesn't sell you a share in the Brooklyn Bridge---
"If you`re that shallow that you base your opinions on looks, I feel sorry for you" I didn't say the guy was ugly, I said he has a miserable expression in the photo! And he does...and it could just be a bad picture. Smiles are no indictator of personality, I agree...
I'll bet you've been on a date, the fellow looked like a living doll and he treated you like a dog---Look on his face, could well have been sun in his eyes or he had a bad lunch--- Abbas smiles all the time and he's a worthless piece of crap---Condie Rice, smiles a lot too, and she represents Bush whom you hate---If you're that shallow that you base your opinions on looks, I feel sorry for you
"Lie about Iran. Lie about settlements. Lie about sincerity for peace. Lie about leaking American secrets. It`s a big job. I hope he`s up for it" After looking at the photo above which shows clearly his miserable expression, it's doubtful!
IDF are losers. IDF shouldnt be allowed anywhere near united states. War criminals! Oh wait, i suppose a war criminal would fit wel with the war criminal bushites here.
Article should be entitled, "War criminal goes to U.S.A. !
and are repeating peans to some Catholic Saint. Or is it a poem to your beloved Stalin you're reciting? Gen.Ganz admitted after Lebanon War the IDF had failed and the IDF top failed the most.Period.
Irregardless of the first 2 posts here, the fact is, Ganz has been an excellent leader in the field.
Absolute, you seem to know everything bad and negative about everyone.... Througout the years Gans has proved himself to be a diligent, devoted, sincere and trustworthy senior officer, beloved by the men he lead. He will serve us well in Washington.
Lie about Iran. Lie about settlements. Lie about sincerity for peace. Lie about leaking American secrets. It's a big job. I hope he's up for it.
-ity,no ground for a cosy post in the US. Kaplinky's possibilities of becoming the next Chief of Staff are even more ominous for Israel. Kaplinsky was pushing doctrine of "conceptualisation"- " convincing Israel's enemies that Israel was superior ,without using military means" Kidnappings and the Lebanon debacle are proofs it's been a total failure, just like Kaplinsky.
