Balad MK Azmi Bishara meets with Lebanese officials in Beirut
Bishara is scheduled to deliver a lecture Tuesday at the American University of Beirut.
By Yoav Stern and Haaretz CorrespondentBalad MK Azmi Bishara met Monday with Lebanese Prime Minister-elect Fouad Siniora as well as outgoing Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Saed al-Hariri, the son of assassinated former prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri and the big winner in the country's recent parliamentary elections.
Bishara is scheduled to give a lecture on Tuesday entitled "Pluralism and Democracy" at the American University of Beirut.
Bishara also met with the families of the victims of the two latest assassinations in Lebanon, journalist Samir Kasir and the former head of the Communist Party George Hawi.
This is the second time Bishara has visited Lebanon to meet with top officials in the country.
Hadash MK Ahmed Tibi also has paid two visits to the country since Hariri's assassination. Tibi and Bishara view these visits as opportunities to strengthen their ties to various outlets in the Arab world.
Attorney General Menachem Mazuz ordered a criminal investigation against Tibi for his visit in Lebanon.
