Army police arrest soldier for threatening to shoot Sharon
Troops: Suspect asked how to get to Sycamore Ranch, quizzed us on security at PM's farm.
By Amos Harel and Haaretz CorrespondentMilitary police arrested Wednesday night an Israel Defense Forces soldier suspected of threatening to shoot Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.
The soldier, from the Home Front Command, was posted at a military checkpoint at the northern entrance to the Gaza Strip.
IDF troops and policemen at the checkpoint said the soldier had approached them and asked them where he could find Sycamore Ranch, the Sharon family's farm. "I want to shoot the prime minister," he added.
According to one version of the story, he also quizzed the troops on the security measures taken at the ranch.
The soldiers reported the incident to their commander at the checkpoint, who called in military police to investigate the matter. The suspect was taken in for questioning.
