Ariel Sharon suffers devastating stroke

In January, then-prime minister Sharon suffers a massive brain hemorrhage which renders him comatose.

Following numerous surgeries, his condition is stabilized, but he fails to regain consciousness, and doctors believe there is negligible chance of his doing so in the future.
