Argentina protesters to Peres: You deserve Nobel for murder
Argentina President: I support Iran nuke program for peaceful purposes; thousands protest Peres visit.
By Shuki Sadeh Tags: Israel newsThousands of people in Buenos Aires protested against President Shimon Peres' visit to Argentina on Monday, some of whom carried a banner telling the octogenarian he deserved a Nobel Prize for murder.
The banner referred to 1994 Nobel Peace Prize, which Peres won together with former prime minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat for the peace talks that resulted in the Oslo Accords.
The demonstrators, who marched toward the Israeli embassy, also waved banners bearing slogans against Israel, as well as posters of Ruhollah Mousavi Khomeini, the leader of the 1979 Iranian revolution.
Protesters in Brazil last week offered Peres a similar welcome, some of whom shouted at him: "War criminal, go home."
During Peres' visit on Monday, he met with Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, his Argentinian counterpart. Kirchner told Peres in the meeting that she supported Iran's nuclear program, as long as it was for peaceful purposes.

Israel has excelled in advising, training and running intelligence and counter-insurgency operations in the Latin American "dirty war" civil conflicts of Argentina, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and now Colombia. They have aided, with arms and training just about every fascist despot on the continent. Some of the worlds greatest abusers of human rights could count Israel as its friend. The vilest terror regimes have benefited from Israel's assistance. The heinous Contras of Nicaragua, the worlds worst humans rights abusers of the 1990's; Colombia. Who still carry out routine torture and assassination of political opponents to this day. So it should not surprise that Argentinians, who suffered so greatly under the fascist generals whom Israel supported, should bear some animosity toward Israel and her emissaries.
He bore ultimate responsibility for the massacre at Qana in 1996. This was taken by a UN soldier: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/quana_01_19_03.htm It ruined Peres ambition to become Sec Gen. at the UN. It appeared to be a war crime.
Mr. Peres is being accused of other's actions. That is a shame. The shame being upon the protesters who are lashing out at the only Israeli official they can.
#1--Kirchner is not Jewish, he is of Swiss-German descent. #2 Yes, it's true that the AMIA investigation has been botched and mishandled from Day 1, yes, it's true there is plenty of antisemitism in Argentina (like everywhere else) # 3 BUT--according to all my friends and family in Argentina this demonstration was just like a few radical nuts--it's not like all of Argentina was out in the streets against Israel, you are talking about a few dozen so-called loudmouth "activists"--like the ones I saw in in Times Square last year protesting Cast Lead. Don't get hysterical over nothing.
From an arrogant rejection in 1948 to accepting jews to live on land not yet their own ! One must feel sorry for the palestinians who are being taken for a ride by their leaders. Up in the clouds of illusion & down to the hell of realities; all these many years ! They allied themselves with all the devils in history fom Hitler to Ahamdeinjud. They invented history for themselves and misread the Qur'an and misinterpreted the national liberation. They crated a transit refugees and deliberately denying them the right to settle like all other human beings; in homes of their own. They use them to live in camps for eternity; in their struggle for liberation. Creating misery is their only tool for liberation. The question is for how long ! Isn't time the palestinians to make at lest on step back and see their mistakes ? For the sake of their own people. Blaming others is not an honest excuse !
What a refreshing comment. It is so easy to fall in the trap to see everything negative that you might forget a lot of good things are happening too!!
That is strange Everything UN Report against Israel is always biased. I really feel sorry for you guys.
of the Israeli Embassy and the Jewish Center but Kirchener more interested in endorsing Iranians than that.
so servilly
All the normal people in the world have much more respect to the US Congress than to any Argentinian protesters!!!
*Remember the beltway snipers? In October 2002, Muslim convert John Muhammad along with 17-year-old Lee Boyd "John" Malvo paralyzed the Washington metropolitan area for three bloody weeks, killing 10 and critically injuring three others. *On July 4, 2002, a cab driver named Hesham Hadayet walked into the Los Angeles International Airport and shot two people to death before being shot and killed by a security guard. *One of the worst air disasters in modern history, Egypt Air Flight 990 crashed into the Atlantic shortly after takeoff from New York in October 1999, killing 217. Two and a half years later, the National Transportation Safety Board finally reached the same conclusion that virtually everyone else had immediately after the crash ? that the plane's Egyptian copilot, Gameel El-Batouty, had cut power to the engines and intentionally sent the plane plummeting into the ocean, killing all aboard. * The U.S. government, not wanting to offend Muslim sensitivities, rarely men
That Argentina endorsed that biased UNHRC resolution against Israel.
WIKIPEDIA Islam in Argentina is represented by one of Latin America's largest Muslim minorities. Although accurate statistics on religion are not available (because the national census does not solicit religious data) the actual size of Argentina's Muslim community is estimated around 1.5% of the total population (500,000 to 600,000)[1][2].
they are enjoying the wealth that Israeli tourist bring to the country they need to feel the difference.
Just to mention two, Jews were victims in considerable numbers of Islamic extremism in Argentina. Secondly, they were also victims of the Argentinian state during the time of the great disapprearances in the 1970's/80's(?). In this latter situation they weren't specifically targeted because they were Jewish but suffered disproportionately because they were left leaning, apparently at that time for all the right reasons. Thirdly, Argenitina has a stained racist history, eliminating all blacks in the 19th century. And where the heck are the indigenous people of Argentina? Apparently, there are numerous Argentinians that give self defence no credence, at least when Jews are involved. I suspect that a great number of them are of Islamic origin, though no doubt not all.
The land where they "Aryans" hid Eichmann with Argentine government help and where 100 Jews blew up the Jewish center by the hand of Iran. Now they carry banner of the Iran Mullah as a hero. Iranian money being spent by Hezbollah in the region to foment hate against Israel and America. This is all propaganda that can be changed.
When Jews and Israelis are slaughtered by their heroes PLO, Hamas and Hezbo they celebrate. But they are against violence only when the terrorists they support are killed by Israel (justifiably so). This is justice and morality gone crazy. After Hezbo destroyed the AMA building, Pharmacy shopkeepers refused to open their stores to save the dying and injured. Eyewitnesses who were interviewed by local TV stations said: "People were killed and Jews too" Thats a quote!
this self hating leftist coward is guilty for the death of over 1000 jewish men women and children, due to his traitorous oslo surrender he shoved down israel's throat
Nestor,donde es su cabeza?
As an argentinean, it was really amazing to be in the speach that Peres gave to a 3000+ people at the Luna Park. If the correspondent knows a little about Argentina, the amount of people that gathered on the Israel embassy was by far less than what any average leftist demostration carries here. Why don't you mention what Peres said, how people reacted - specially the jewish community, the largest in south america - after 20 years of no president coming? It will be a lot better and interesting!
This surprises anybody? This is the same country that has refused to investigate the murder of dozens of Jews almost 20 years ago in a blatant act of terror. They seem to suffer from the same illness as Sarah Palin -- their "truth" is what they think they know.
so to hell with the rest of the world
That's where Iran massacred Jews in the Israeli embassy, 1992, and in the JCC AMIA in 1994, with Menem's obstruction of justice. Chávez in Venezuela came a dacade later, and he started exporting his pro-Iranian revolutions only in the last five years. If they protest a fine statesman like Peres, imagine what they would have done to Lieberman.
It doesn't surprise.Argentina opened its doors to nazi criminals after WWII.There were also the terrorist attacks against the Israeli embassy and the AMIA and the investigation has hardly advanced.Argentina can support the nuclear program in Iran because it is Israel who is in danger and not Argentina. Finally the people who cried murder to Peres should learn about him. It is just antisemitism.
anymore, except the US congress of course.
Right after the bombing of the AMA, pharmacies closed their doors and refused to help the dying and injured because they were Jews. Eyewitnesses were telling TV reporters: "lots of Aregninians were killed and Jews too" That`s a straight quote!
Israel should have done better PR during operation Cast Lead in Gaza. Hamas succeeded in getting the benefits through the Muslim propaganda and the UN/Goldstein report. I myself am absolutely sure the IDF leadership did everything possible to get Hamas. But as this terrorist organisation usually hides behind civilians, the IDF soldiers had a hard time to get them without hitting civilians. Shalom from Holland
