Alleged Jewish terrorist: I know God is pleased
Court charges Yaakov (Jack) Teitel with murdering 2 Palestinians, attempted murder and incitement.
By Nir Hasson and Chaim Levinson Tags: Israel news Jewish terroristThe Jerusalem District Prosecutor's Office on Thursday charged alleged Jewish terrorist Yaakov (Jack) Teitel with two murders, three attempted murders and other acts of violence.
"It was a pleasure and an honor to serve my God," said Teitel at the Jerusalem courthouse. "I have no regret and no doubt that God is pleased."
Teitel also denied recent reports that he had operated as an undercover Shin Bet agent.
Teitel, 37, born in Florida but a resident of the northern West Bank settlement of Shvut Rahel since 1997, was arrested last month for suspected murder and for his alleged role in a string of attempted murder plots, according to details of an investigation revealed after a gag order on the case was lifted.
He was arrested on October 7 and police said he later confessed to most of the allegations against him.
The indictment charges that Teitel smuggled a disassembled firearm into Israel from the United States in 1997 by placing it in a video player, and used that gun to murder taxi driver Samir Akram Balbisi in June of that year.
According to the indictment, in August 2007, Teitel murdered Issa Jabrin, a Palestinian shepherd from Susya, after which he fled Israel for three years.
The indictment also lists Teitel's efforts for more than a decade to harm Arabs, gays and lesbians, leftists, police officers and messianic Jews.
Teitel had admitted to, among other offences, sending a booby-trapped Purim gift basket to a family of messianic Jews in Ariel, which seriously wounded their teenage son, Ami Ortiz, and planting a pipe bomb at the Jerusalem residence of Prof. Ze'ev Sternhell, who was lightly wounded.
At this stage, however, Teitel will not be charged with the murder of two policemen in the Jordan Valley eight months ago. While police also suspect him of this crime, they do not yet have enough evidence to charge him with it.
Earlier in the week the Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court extended his remand for another three days - and, for the first time since his arrest on October 7, Teitel himself appeared in court for the hearing. The Shin Bet security service had barred him from attending previous remand hearings.
During the hearing, Teitel's lawyer protested the difficult conditions of his imprisonment, saying he was chained to his bed 24 hours a day. The court ordered the Shin Bet to look into this complaint.

# The truth is that the General Assembly?s partition proposal never went to the Security Council for consideration. Why not? Because the U.S. knew that, if approved, it could only be implemented by force given the extent of Arab and other Muslim opposition to it; and President Truman was not prepared to use force to partition Palestine. # So the partition plan was vitiated (became invalid) and the question of what the hell to do about Palestine ? after Britain had made a mess of it and walked away, effectively surrendering to Zionist terrorism ? was taken back to the General Assembly for more discussion. The option favoured and proposed by the U.S. was temporary UN Trusteeship. It was while the General Assembly was debating what do that Israel unilaterally declared itself to be in existence ? actually in defiance of the will of the organised international community, including the Truman administration.
IF all that Palestinians had to do was recognize the zionist entity as jewish and in return the occupation would end and the zionists would retreat behind the pre-1967 borders, then the Palestinians would have recognized the zionist entity as a jewish state a long time ago. But the truth is, the zionists want all of Palestine and they need the Palestinians to recognize their state as jewish so that the zionists can then say "You just recognized all areas under our control a a part of our jewish state." The palestinians would then give away the W. Bank and Jerusalem over to the zionists. That's why the Palestinians cannot and will not recognize the zionist entity as a jewish state.
According to history as written by the winner, Zionism, Israel was given its birth certificate and thus legitimacy by the UN Partition Resolution of 29 November 1947. This is propaganda nonsense. * In the first place the UN without the consent of the majority of the people of Palestine did not have the right to decide to partition Palestine or assign any part of its territory to a minority of alien immigrants in order for them to establish a state of their own. * Despite that, by the narrowest of margins, and only after a rigged vote, the UN General Assembly did pass a resolution to partition Palestine and create two states, one Arab, one Jewish, with Jerusalem not part of either. But the General Assembly resolution was only a proposal ? meaning that it could have no effect, would not become policy, unless approved by the Security Council.
to Joe sittizen, what a load of crap! the jews do not give the pals anything, except death and destruction. sorta like ur disputed lands since when is a house that was never supposed to be part of isrl but in the west bank disputed? u r good at twisting words but u never ever look at the reasons why the pals fight. if i was a pal i would never give up the fight. for their fight is truth, when ur fight is for a lie. jews like u r despicable, especially when u always forget to mention why the pals fight. or why they refuse to give up. u have no future in those lands, futures r not built on lies. the entire planet knows the truth, yet our gov'ts r forced to accept ur lies because u have nukes pointed at every major city. may u and ur kind meet ur God soon, satan will enjoy the company.
I am proud to have been born a Jew and to have moved to Israel to live but my God is not the same God of the Jewish terrorists who masquerade themselves as Jewish settlers. trouble-maker settlers.
Hitchen states that "religion is only the artifact of cultural evolution". The arrogance of ancient shaman, and priests in controlling primitive peoples, is simply carried over by the religious elite of the three Abrahamic "myths". Nothing good can come of this "comfort food for the religious " sheeple".
This guy is a bad or worse than any terrorist in the world today. I hope he rots in jail for the rest of his life. He is an embaraasment to the Jewish people and his supporters should be ashamed!
"IDF , the most moral Army ever existed in this world" Tell that to the dead women, children and babies of Gaza....
The danger of living in a tight-knit community of religious extremists who engage in a common belief that only they are tuned into the true word of God is that sooner or later someone goes around the bend and off the edge. Teitel differs much from Hasan. Hasan's spiral to insanity started a few years ago when under great stress between his life in the Army and his religious obsession which started when his parents died. He was a typical American Mass Murderer. Male, few friends, unmarried and unable to develop a normal relationship with women. Hasan started showing symptoms of psychosis over a year ago, and exhibiting sever stress in the last year. His snap from reality was sudden. Teitel slipped into mass murder slowly. He moved in extreme religious circles for some years before committing his first major crime. His insanity grew as he continued to have his beliefs reenforced by his associates whom might well have known little of his secret life.
I do agree , but David brings accusations against IDF , the most moral Army ever existed in this world . You might disagree , but I would like to see Arab terror facing any other Army , including any Arab/Muslim army , remember Black September , ? Or Russians ( Chechnya ...), American (any place , British .., French ( 2 million dead in Alger ) ..... then you could have a case . With Israel you can still play tootsy . And David is absolutely wrong in his , left inspired , accusations .
Far be it from me to in any way defend al Quaeda, but you are mistaken about their aims. Their methods are definitely terrorist, just like McVeigh and Teital and Shamir and numerous others in Israel/Palestine, but they have definite aims, just like those others had. They are not out to kill people just for the fun of it, as you seem to suggest. One aim is to rid Saudi Arabia and other Muslim countries of American influence. Since they operate in Muslim countries, it hardly surprising that most of their victims are Muslim.
I agree totally. He should NEVER be allowed on the streets again. He's very mentally disturbed to say that G_d is pleased that he went out and committed murder. He's dangerous. He should get life in prison with NO parole.
Yes, he's a psychiatric case, and also he MUST be in PRISON FOR LIFE withOUT PAROLE!
Let's make a fair trade. Hamas respects the law as regards killing civilians and Israel respects the law as to taking territory contrary to international law.
Hamas has no choice. They are fighting to rescue their country from invaders and because of its relative weakness in numbers has to use any means that work. Attacking civilians forces Israel to divert a much larger percent of its GDP into defense than it would if they only attacked the military.
Joe, it seems like you are living in a permanent state of denial. To suggest, as you do, that "The settlers farm their own orchards, and the Pals farm theirs." would be laughable if it weren't so tragic. The settler movement has systematically set about destroying not only Palestinian orchards but the very possibility of Palestinian agriculture on lands that they themselves seek to acquire. This is the reality that people such as yourself simply refuse to grapple with. I can only assume that the 'victim mentality' prevents you from seeing how we ourselves are oppressors.
Timothy McVeigh (may he rot in hell) also killed innocent women, children, infants, old people...whatever he thought he did it for, he was a murderer...
Article Thirty-One: ?As to those who have not borne arms against you on account of religion, nor turned you out of your dwellings, Allah forbiddeth you not to deal kindly with them, and to behave justly towards them; for Allah loveth those who act justly.? (The Tried ? verse 8).
the American system. Al-Qaeda specilaise in the mass slaughter of innocent women, children, infants, old people... basically, all they can kill, and the curious thing you know what? 99.9% of their victims are Muslims!
The evils done in the name of religion far outweigh any good it brings. When will we outgrow this childhood disease?
With all due respect to your background, as being a child of Holocaust-survivers, but why are you picking at David from Tel Aviv ?? The guy is trying to bring some balance into the discussion, and he is not a hate-monger, not a racist and does not despise non-jews. How can there ever peace and stability if not truth is brought forwards and if not decent majorities in both populations start to communicate ?
I am just wandering , on which planet do you live , who brought you up , which school did you attend , and who were your teachers ??????????? Then I would like to talk to you personally to find out which inadequacy in your upbringing made you into who you are . I am a grandfather , a child of Holocaust survivors ,and have seen the world , often visiting the most beautiful country in the world , Israel .
What ideology either openly or latently is most predominant in the occupied territores and the colonies and illegal outposts? Secular zionism? That doesnt exist as an ideology any longer. Even theere the socialist ideal man has been largely taken over my materialism and hedonism. Is there a strong religious movement that inculcates vales of peace and reconciliation, of compassion and empathy? Those who use these words in the present day religious nationalist camp (and those two words are untied at the hype in religious communities around the world, most fanatically in the WB). Zealotry and biblical religion is the present model. Land, blood and the command of the Leader have taken the place of the God of Israel, the Torah of Israel and the People of Israel. Human dignity has become a gentile perversion in their minds, all Arabs are Amalek incarnate and gentiles objects of scorn allowed to live in the Land only as aliens. Hatred is seen as the king of virtues.
...it gives me hope that there is a big decent majority in Israel, which wants a good and just agreement with the Palestinians ! More of that please.
Esther, You always make a considerable level of common sense in your posts. Part of the problem here is the fact that there are not many intellectuals who have the ability to articulate reality the way you do. Thank you for being logical, reasonable and a good voice for peace.
Your posts are full of hate and subjectivity. Why atre you injecting and invoking an irrelevant subject? Nidal hasan was an army psychiatrist who may have snapped for being harrasssed by others for being an American of Arab roots. We have many of those. The war Bush and Company carried out on Israel's behalf in Iraq is the cause of that. And you dare to speak?
When will Israel realize that it must make peace with its neighbors in order to survive peacefully? Stop oppressing the Palestinians. Haven't you learned from history's lessons. Work on establishing a Palistinian state, 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as universal capital.
You are a militant when you are fighting an oppressive occupation. You are a terrorist when you are targeting innocent civilians already under occupation.
"Compare this, however, with the Palestinians - who not only encourage attacks against Israelis, but they call their mass murderers heroes." Last I checked, Israeli right-wingers were hailing Baruch Goldstein as a hero. Same thing for Ariel Sharon.
The bigger question is how many other Israeli's believe he is doing Gods work too? Israel your house is on fire, isn't there anyone that can put water on it or are all your fire pails full of gas?......PEACE EVER?
When is a murderer a terrorist and when is he a militant?
So "It was a pleasure and an honor to serve my God," said Teitel at the Jerusalem courthouse. "I have no regret and no doubt that God is pleased." And I have no doubt this guy is nuts, whacko, insane.
Hope they put this vermin in jail for the rest of his days. May every day feel like a year.
The settlers farm their own orchards, and the Pals farm theirs. Yes, there's a land dispute, but trying to use that as an excuse to carry out war crimes simply means you are blind to reality. The Pals don't even behave in "exemplary fashion" with their own. Go to google images for "palestinian collaborator" and you'll see the gruesome reality. Do you mean to tell me they'd behave in a more "exemplary fashion" in their own state? I don't think so. There is no evidence that the Pals would do things differently at all. Just look at honor killings for "exemplary fashion". The fact remains that the Palestinians commit war crimes, and people like you think they deserve to get away with it. That's why most Israelis don't vote left anymore. I know they should be on trial in the Hague.
How about the demolition of his house? How about arresting as many of his friends? how about interrogating his family and friends each time they travel ? Oh, did I forget anything, yes of course, how about blaming his religion of his acts? All of the above is done to any Palestinian with the same charges on regular basis. I dare you to say that is not being done !
This interview with G-d pretty much says it all, no matter which side of the Teitel debate, or Israel-Palestinian debate, or any other debate, you are on. http://www.theonion.com/content/node/28151
So you seem to think that Israel is somehow better because rogue individual civilians who commit murders are tried for it, while Palestinian fighters are not tried for their "crimes"? All you have to do is look at Tzahal's treatment of the Goldstone report. You can't equivocate resistance fighters and Yaakov Teitel. Their equivalent is IDF soldiers and I'm sure you know how they're rarely charged with the crimes they commit. Get off your laurels.
... and confronting settlers enjoying Pal lands and orchards, it's challenge for Pals to behave in exemplary fashion...
If Israel will not demolish his home, I will loose my believe that Israel is a democratic state...
"Although I`m sure that he knows that society can never condone murder his statements about God raise the question of just how sane this guy really is." Unfortunately, there are millions of people throughout the world who believe equally 'insane' and dangerous ideas about their gods. Look at the Rapture people and the Christian Zionists (Darbyists) in the US, for example.
"Teitel must be serving the same God of al-Qaeda." And the god of the Christian fundamentalist Oklahoma bomber Timothy McVeigh. Gods have many names but by their fruits you shall know them.
The systematic oppression of Palestinians in Israel and the Occupied Territories yields numerous violations of human rights, including murders, which are rarely, if ever, addressed by the Israeli justice system. This high profile case is distinguished by the fact that this particular settler targeted Jewish Israelis as well.
Although I'm sure that he knows that society can never condone murder his statements about God raise the question of just how sane this guy really is. Personally I have no problem of putting him in prison, but for once, just once, I'd like to see the anti-settler leftists say that also murderers like Bagrhouti also belong in prison for life. Just a little less hypocrisy would be a good thing.
Another religious madman. Whats the difference between Teitel and Nazrullah ? Only one is Jewish and his killed less.
The USA is agonizing about being accurate in their definition of this mass murderer, probably because the outcome has many implications, even for innocent Muslim Americans. Teitel is overtly proud of his deeds... the members of his yeshuv have overtly embraced his family..., altho' they fall short of actually justifying him...
I too have no doubt that God is pleased that he will be off the streets now I am sure he is also pleased that he has shamed his family and left his young wife alone with four or five kids and his young kids to grow up without a father..... what a piece of work!
Sorry, Esther, but the Palestinians do indeed have an established court system. They simply choose not to use it on Palestinians who kill Israelis. Palestinians are quick to arrest, try, and issue death sentences for anybody who aids Israeli security forces. However, any Palestinian who sends a suicide bomber to kill innocent men, women and children is simply a "hero" who they say is exercising "legitimate resistance to the occupation." It's not legitimate. It's murder (and a war crime, as Goldstone concluded) and the Palestinians encourage it. This has nothing to do with "harassing" them. They have a policy of murdering Israelis that is contrary to international and national laws. Stop making excuses for them. Instead, demand that they respect the law and stop promoting war crimes. That will also help them build their "civil systems".
Teitel should inform us when the opinion of G-d comes in.
... is that we have been harrassing and dispossessing the Pals for so long, and so relentlessly, that they haven't had much opportunity to develop their own civil systems... ... it is to our advantage to give them back their autonomy in a state of their own, thereby encouraging them to build up their own civil systems in every sphere...
If he is in fact guilty.
How does he differ from the vast masses of Arab terrorists held in Israeli jails? Marwan Barghouti is in jail for the murder of Israeli civilians yet..... Should they not all get life in prison for their hate crimes? Or shall the Arabs get more leniency in the matter given the general popularity among their masses of ethnic violence, hate crimes and the celebration of genocidal antisemitism (where "the rock and tree will say: there is a Jews behind me, kill him"). Should not cold blooded child killers like Samir Qantar rot in prison? But instead they get birthday cake on TV and a prized wife. As long as Arabs with "blood on their hands" rot in Israeli jails so should--- providing he is convicted--- Teitel (and other of his ilk) rot in prison. Why should Jews that kill for political and fanatic religious dis-reason be held to different standards from Arabs that for political and fanatic religious dis-reason kill small children and...
yes I agree with u #1 but also his house should be demolished too just compare that with how the Israeli forces deal with Palestinians. double standard.
why do Jews feel the need to point out Muslim crimes when the topic at hand is about a Jewish terrorist in a Jewish newspaper? Blind comparison perhaps?
he too, acted alone, but his is not alone in his islamist ideology. however, unlike the alleged jewish terrorist who was branded immediately as such, the u.s. government, the u.s. military, and the liberal press agonise over the correct naming of hasan--as if the average person would shout allahu akhbar before slaughtering fourteen innocent people.
He's behind bars, and will probably stay there for a long time. The Israeli police are indeed after any accomplices. And those who share his warped ideology get the clear message that you can't take the law into your own hands. Compare this, however, with the Palestinians - who not only encourage attacks against Israelis, but they call their mass murderers heroes. When is the last time you heard of the Palestinians not just arresting a Palestinian who killed innocent Israelis, but trying him and sending him to jail? It doesn't happen. All you alleged "human rights" supporters should take that into consideration when you demand that Israel be held accountable. The Palestinians are no less accountable, and you've been ignoring their crimes for decades.
... he is not alone in his ideology...
Anyone who justifies murder by using the word "God" is a very dangerous person. There is no remorse and he would do so again if circumstances occur. He should be in prison for the rest of his life. There is no room for such talk and actions in a democractic state which shares the value of the sanctity of all human life.
