Abbas to blast Israel for building in settlements, E. Jerusalem
PA president to ask for $5.6 billion in economic assistance over next three years as part of development plan
By Avi Issacharoff Tags: Mahmoud Abbas East Jerusalem PalestiniansPalestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas will criticize Israel for its settlement policy in the territories and demand that it stop building in East Jerusalem, according to a draft of the speech he is to deliver at the donor states' conference in Paris next week. The draft has been seen by Haaretz.
Abbas will speak about several necessary commitments. Israel's first priority must be the "peace option" instead of holding thousands of Palestinian prisoners and continuing to expand the settlements."
Israel must immediately stop all settlement activities in the occupied territories including East Jerusalem. It must stop land confiscation, closure, setting up further roadblocks, rounding up people, assassinations" and shaping reality with military force," Abbas will say.
The second commitment invokes international support for the "peace option" based on international decisions and the Arab peace initiative.
Abbas will ask for $5.6 billion in economic assistance over the next three years as part of a reform and development plan.
"These plans' success depends on Israel's removal of all the restrictions blocking our efforts and actions," Abbas will say.

Well, all those people who had to evacuate Gaza have to live somewhere.
Arabs have received similar funds--And have already used them for weapons, which have already been used against Israel--Not only did the Arabs have access, they accessed them and used them--If you wish, and upon request, I will list where and when the Arabs brought their weapons into action--
must every capital in the world be arab? the present double digit number ought more than suffice. jerusalem is for the jews. indeed had it not long been so, there would not be an islam. roman catholics content themselves with rome, and do not ask for jerusalem. let muslims content themselves with their twenty odd capitals. greed is not good.
Israel should say NO to the usurper Abbas Islamist-Jihadist. It is NONE of the business of the wolves to be interfering in Israel's internal affairs. Israel's eternal, indivisible capital-city of Jerusalem and her liberated biblical and historic homeland of Judea and Samaria belong to Israel since ancient time. The Arab Islamist-Jihadists have NO moral and legal right to usurp and occupy Israel's biblical and historic homeland. And they have NO right to usurp even an inch of Israel's eternal, indivisible capital-city of Jerusalem. It is time to tell the wolves to shut up and conform with Israel's laws or leave and return to their historic homeland in Jordan and Southwestern Arabia.
that big guy, whoever it is,will come and end it all! And the world community can relax. This has gone on too lone,60years! Poster 2.the land of Israel, not in your fantasy,is the land allocated to israel(56%land for 33 % jews)by the UN Resolution 181(Partition Resolution,1947).It is the only legally authorised border between israel&Palestine.Makes no difference that the Arabs rejected it in 1947.The UN inherited the responsibilites of the League of Nations.Palestine was a Mandate,a Trust, and Britain the Trustee, proposed the Partition, and on Nov.29,2007,the UN GA adopted 181,thus ratifying the British proposal. In Trust Law both beneficiaries have to benefit before the Trust is extinguished.israel gladly accepted 181 in 1947 and in 1948 proclaimed a state. Was admitted to the UN in 1949 on condition that it accept 194 (ROR).In 1949,after the 1948 war, israel grabbed 22%more land with the armistice agreement 1949(a temporary agreement).israel has to withdraw from ALL land not allocated in 181
when the weakened Abbys recognizes Isreal then he can whine about buildings that shouldn't be built....till then, eat sand. The hateful pals have NO say in what is done in ISREAL and ISREAL PROPER...maybe in the future but not just yet- Recognize Isreals right to exist, then maybe we'll let you whine...otherwise, drop dead...it's Isreals' to do with it what they please ...AND OF COURSE no recognition, no cooperation...z
debacle!ask for the Partition Line, not the measly 22% you are selling out the Palestinians for! BTW,what about Gaza, are you planning to end the vile siege? It is a well known fact that you helped the Crime Syndicate in that project. Also give the civil servants their salaries(it's against civil service law)and stop ordering the judiciary to strike,as well the police in Gaza. And oh yes,try spending the 5billion on the Palestinians, not line your pockets & that of your cronies.Bit of advice, fast forward your seeking a sinecure in the U.S. or elsewhere, your days are numbered anyway, unless you turn things around! Finally, don't obstruct either the old PLO or attempts to democratised it and restructure it,and don't by any means try to get rid of the democratically elected govt(Hamas). If you can get all this done, there's hope for you!
George has had a busy week. 1. Making sure kids lack health insurance. 2. Defending torture as not torture. 3. Preparing lay-off notices for defense workers because he cannot certify there is a need for untrained and not fully equipped troops in Iraq. 4. Re-spinning Iranian intelligence. Give him a week or two. He'll get around to making a WTF call to Olmert about Har Homa and the other settlements expansion. He did it on the new Jordan Valley settlements that were planned but haven't been built. George isn't utterly and completely useless, just busy.
Israel's house was in order--Arabs decided to burglarize it when they attacked in 1948, refusing the UN's Partition Plan and their share of the homeland---Yes, let there be a one state solution, Arabs go to Jordan, which was stolen by the British from the Jews and given to Emir Abdullah as a payoff for his services to them in WW1, that portion was 77% of the Mandate, leaving the Jews a mere 23%--One man, one vote, in Jordan, if the King allows it--
Israel had to buy the weaponry to protect herself from the Arab neighbors who insisted on invading her--Shall, we start with 1948 and then continue--Or go back to the Arab riots of 1929 & 1936--You choose the direction, I'll fill in the facts--Really astonish, you keep on biting yourself in the arse time and again-- Anyway, why are you so concerned with how much Israel has received, it wasn't a single penny of your money--
Iran has Israels interest and attention. The way they have accomplished this is to pose a potential threat to the state of Israel. Until the Palestinians are able to accomplish this they will only see the back of Israels hand and the bottom of its boot.
Oh so you're actually referring to this Khadduri guy as the expert... why? Because Ettinger said so? I did a quick survey around this room in the last few minutes and nobody has ever heard of him... This guy was 98 when he died, and one of the problems with Ettinger's article (no surprise) is that it is based entirely on the presumptions that 1- we Palestinians (or perhaps the Arab states?) have a copy of some Khadduri manifesto in our briefcases and/or 2- we follow the tenants of Islam (as inevitably misrepresented, as usual, by Ettinger) when negotiating. This aricle is very malicious because, even if I never heard of either Ettinger or Khaduri and I believed they were actually scholars, I would not take heed of warnings that Palestinians are not serious about peace because of the presumed opinions of ONE unknown foreign scholar, even if Ettinger represented him accurately which is highly unlikely.
Ettinger is a "world acclaimed Arab scholar"? First of all, he's not Arab. Second, he is hardly a scholar, he is a chief policy writer at a right-wing think tank in Jerusalem. Lastly, I have analyzed his writings in which he cherry-picks data from other publications and twists them to present a perverted analysis that has nothing to do with the original source. You can try it yourself: Find any piece he wrote that has footnotes, go to the actual source he refers to in a footnote, and see if he is accurately representing the source. You are welcome, of course, to believe him since it suits your ideology to do so. That's human nature, to tend to believe whatever your ideology is comfortable with even if it is wrong or even racist. But don't insult the intelligence of others by referring to him as an 'expert' and a 'scholar'. This guy would easily lose any debate when presented with the same facts he chooses to ignore in his own research.
You make me laugh. "You Jews want it all?" If that were the case, we wouldn't have moved settlers, given up Gaza as a launching pad and see how the Pals refuse any attempts at peace, true peace. Face it, the Pals are the pawns for billions in Intntl money raising. It's strictly a business. Arafat stole everything from the Pals making sure that by Hamas providing basic services like FOOD, the pals would be the fleas on the dogs of war. Pals are living in a beggar mentality and will never be a real people capable of governing themselves. They are used like fodder and still don't know it. Sad. And your comment, just too freaking funny for logic. Typical, stupidity. Who will laugh when Gaza goes up in flames?
which is a pity. The author, Majid Khadduri has received all the honors and recognition that the academic world can bestow and he explains why Islam cannot make peace with non-Islamic countries. Therefore the only difference between Fatah and Hamas is the means of attaining the goal and not the goal itself. Mike P.S. Sadly, the majority of the people on these talkbacks are lazy and don't want to learn but simply want to keep repeating their personal views which are not based on facts but simply on half digested information which they continually regurgitate.
'Land Of Israel' - you guys and your dusty old bibles make me laugh. Not content with forcing thousands from their homes already you want to have it all.
The Fatah leadership is offering normal international relations with Israel, according to international norms. Hamas is an Islamic radical governmnent more along the lines of Taliban and Islamic Iran, which does threaten Israeli security, but is opposed by the entire world. Israel's security and prosperity are in the peace offered by the Saudi plan, adopted by the Arab League and Palestinians, which includes the possibility of limited land swaps contiguous with the Green Line, negotiation on the right of return (not an absolute demand), and reasonable sharing of Jerusalem as the capital of two nations. That sharing can be accomplished in a number of different ways. So peace is cheap at the price.
ivar , take off your shoes and feel the earth beneath your feet ! how does your head feel now ??
The Liberman's of Israel don't really have to worry that work will stop on Har homa or any of the other eyesores that zioonist expansionism has put up to uglify the country. georgie and his gal rice puddin have done their bit to save face. Been there, done that. They've got bigger fish to fry right now. Gore has embarrassed them in bali and shown them to be criminal rapists of the environment, georgie has witheld increased health care to the needy children of US because it brings him to the brink of the socialist bogeyman that haunts him like a budweiser of vodka and tonic. He could care less. He's a conman at heart and feels he's done his bit to make look like he's ready to put himself out there for peace. His record is like a horrible collision on the highway of internatinal affairs. Dont expect him to take real control of the wheel at this point.
Fatah
Firstly according to Islam telling lies to non Muslims is not lying .. and secondly peace between Islamic and non- Islamic countries is not possible - only a hudna is possible. Please read the following. It was written by a world acclaimed Arab scholar. http://hudna.notlong.com Mike P.S. And it's not clear what you'd like to do with Hamas?
And Israel must put its house in order to welcome peace. The objections of Yisrael Beiteinu and Shahs can not be the spoilers of peace, the root of injustice against the rights of the Palestinians to have their own homeland and a historic share of Jerusalem, in a two state solution. Or let there be an honest one state solution, one man, one vote, Arabs and Jews. Not the status quo Apartheid solution favored by Israel until now.
Uzi is sadly right!! That is the correct solution!!! How does one convince the Israeli center to join!! If the last intifada didn't bring Israelis to their senses what will? Avigdor Liebermen, Uzi Landau and Bibi could be the leaders with Guliani in the Oval office! I'm afraid that it would include many innocent Jewish deaths on the way!!!
Can Jews procreate in the settlement of Mount Scopus? Is Ramat Eshkol settlement permitted for Jews? Are Jews allowed in Gilo, Ramot colonies?? You peace now fools have made Jewish neighborhoods into illegal settlements!!!
The two state solution obviously can't work because of http://hudna.notlong.com - an excellent article based on the studies of a top Arab scholar. The best way to handle the one State solution at the moment is probably http://initiative.notlong.com It will help the approximately 50% of Palestinians that want to start new lives and will enable the remaining 50% to enjoy much better ones too. Mike

thats interesting.. thats the same percentage of land..5.6.... that the jews owned prior to 1948... they ended up with 56 percent...nice figure abbas!
Quote " no hope for two state solution...It is obvious that it is late for a two-state solution.... It is simply too late for a Palestinian state." What makes you thin so ?, Explain? Quote " Palestinians should work for one state solution. " , What makes you think that it is not "too late for a one state solution " ,?
It is obvious that it is late for a two-state solution. Palestinians should work for one state solution. It is simply too late for a Palestinian state.
Has the Haaretz nothing to print but to put words into the thoughts of abbas. He is a fool and Haaretz has now become his speech writer against Israel. I know this will not appear on talkback as it attacks the newspapers and the left journalists.
he knows camp david was the last chance and arafat was scared of it !! whatever he agrees on paper it will not work !!
or building qassams? Rockets on Israel sure trumps building some apartments. Much more exciting! And the EU pays the PA blood money.
Israel should let Hamas to depose Abbas and smash Fatah, also in Judea and Samaria, on their way to abolish the PA and wipe it off the world map and consciousness. Then Israel should get rid of Hamas. This will open the way for the Kingdom of Jordan to take charge as the only viable nation state of all the Arabs of Greater Palestine. Having got rid of the PA and Hamas, Israel and Jordan should agree on the border between them in Judea and Samaria and maybe cede Gaza to Egypt that would sort it out quite smartly. Everybody, Jews and Arabs, should continue to live in peace where they are and nobody should move from their homes or land. Israelis who would thus become residents of the Kingdom of Jordan should be given rights and conditions like the Arabs in Israel.
The Arabs of Western Eretz Yisrael have consistently demonstrated that they are incapable of surviving unaided or ruling themselves, especially at the national polity level. They have never exercised their inherent right of self determination and now they expect others to determine and create for them that Mickey Mouse "state" which will never be. They constantly kill and steal from each other and lie to themselves, each other and the rest of the world. They never miss any opportunity to make atrocious choices and mistakes and they are incapable of sustaining and providing for themselves; they depend on others for everything. How on earth will they ever make it?
The Arabs of the Land of Israel consistently demonstrate that they don't want, can't make and won't maintain real peace. They do want, however, to weaken Israel by gaining territory without 'giving' anything tangible. They ignore that "possession is nine tenths of the law" and that it's rather the Arabs who should come forward and spell out what they offer Israel in return for what they want. They also pretend not to get it that in this case "land for peace" is both immoral and unworkable. The Arabs had used the 'territories' to threaten, pester and attack Israel before we took these territories in self defence. They continue to plan, prepare and perpetrate genocide against Israel and pretend not to see that it would be suicide for Israel to concede anything in response to their threats and aggressive action. The Arabs must realize that the only way toward peace is that rather they themselves should offer, accept and be convincingly satisfied with 'painful' compromises.
In the past millions upon millions have been thrown at the PLO, and the leaders became very rich, and the people wallowed in poverty. Time and time again. Will this time be different? No.
In Islamic societies run by Sharia law, non-Muslims (dhimmis) are required to pay a special tax to the authorities and if they don't, they face expulsion or other punishments. "Aid to the Palestinians" is another form of dhimmi tax. They feel the dhimmi Europeans and Americans owe them a living, so they demand that they pony up money for them. Abbas has threatened if he doesn't get everything he wants, there will be "disorder", in other words, violence which may be directed at American and European interests, so the dhimmis had better pay up. Just a more modern form of dhimmi tax, for the globalized world.
More money has been donated to Pallywood than any other 'cause' on the planet. Billions upon billions of dollars. Where has it all gone? It has been systematically squandered by the likes of Arafat (whose fat ugly wife is living off of it) as well as used stolen by Fatah, used for weapons, and who knows what else. And how dare Abbas blame the Pali economic failure on Israeli roadblocks. Those roadblocks are there as a RESULT of the terrorist operations agains Israel. That has to stop FIRST. Arabs and Israel bashers alike are so blinded by their own hatred for Israel, they can't even see this simple equation.
that israel has recieved? they should have owned a whole country by now if they didn't spend it all on weaponry.
Hand out again Abbas? What a JOKE!!! Why are we still dealing with this idiot? Oops I forgot...We are still dealing because we are still listening and daling with two other major idiots Bush's Bull Spinner Rice (PA are oppressed 60's black americans) AND O-Merd (translate this from the french) COME ON WAKE UP! STAND LIKE MEN IN YOUR OWN FREE COUNTRY!!!
to lure the arabs into arabs states , Such financial aid to the arab occupation is a flagrant display of support to terror aimed at swindling the jews off their lands ,
Abbas is blowing hot air again. He thinks he can dictate to Israel. Where does he get his authority from. He doesn't have a government and he can't control his own people. Instead of blasting Israel, he should come to Israel with his hat in his hand and ask for a handout.
For $5.6 billion they should all be relocated completely out side of the Land of Israel.
The guy has a short attention span, let's face it. There is no chance for peace, at least not this way. The only thing Israel understands is force.
