A first look at the Simpsons' upcoming visit to Israel
In episode to air March 28, Homer gets 'Jerusalem Syndrome'; Sacha Baron Cohen makes appearance.
By City Mouse Online and Matan Abramovich Tags: Israel newsThe first images from the upcoming episode of The Simpsons, in which the animated family visits Israel, were released this week after six months ofbuzz over the special show to be aired in the United States on March 28.
The episode, titled "The Greatest Story Ever D'ohed," includes scenes of Homer and Bart at the Western Wall with their Israeli tour guide, who will be voiced by British comedian Sascha Baron Cohen, of Borat and Bruno fame.
In the episode, Homer gets "Jerusalem Syndrome" and believes that he is the Messiah. Also, the tour guide bickers and exchanges political barbs with Marge.
"This is an episode that people from all three religions will be equally offended by," said Simpsons producer Al Jean.
The show has featured many Jewish jokes and characters during its 21 seasons on air, most prominently Krusty the Clown (whose Jewish name is Herschel Shmoikel Pinchas Yerucham Krustofski).

Wahahahahahaha! I was wondering that myself--thanks for asking! ;0
Cause and effect? You kill them, steal their land, and starve them with blockades. What do you expect? Treat a man like an animal, but dont be surprised when he tries to bite you. Until you realize this Israel will never have peace... Silly fool.
They get kidnapped by a jihadist group and they're taken to Gaza where they're put in a cell next to Gilad Shalit. Homer tries to get Gilad to help them escape, but Gilad has no intention of escaping; he says he has converted to Islam and he feels at peace; in the meantime, Marge has been covered up in a burka and Elisa has had a cliterechtomy; Bart is missing his right arm because he snatched one of his guard's ipods. Homer in the meantime is going crazy cos of no beer, so he becomes a hashsmoking maniac and in the end, everyone is happy and content as prisoners in Gaza; suddenly, Krusty, who has been a Mossad agent all these years, followed by the Dubai chief of police and a joint commando of IDF and Turkish special forces busts in and rescues them, just as they were getting used to things as they were. Last shot: Homer on couch at home smoking nargila, Marge still wearing burka, and Bart with his new robotic hand. Homer: "Lebanon might be a good place for our next vacation."
If the episode is as brilliant as the title, it's going to be a riot!
Let's see if it really is "equal". If the producers don't attract a fatwa like the Danish cartoonist, then we will know it's not "equal" at all, and that they are really gutless.
...was when Krusty the Clown was told he wasn't Jewish after all. His reply: "Well whadya know. After all these years of thinking I was a self-hating Jew it turns out that I was just a plain old antisemite". Good words to remember for some of the Israel-bashing Jews who regularly post here and elsewhere.
Will they try to break the siege of Gaza? Try to get through a checkpoint with "Viva Palestina" bumper stickers? Will Lisa give us an enlightened perspective of "holy land"? Better make this a good one...generate some socially redeeming sequels calling for a just peace...
I wonder will they have a 5 or 10 mins section of them visiting Gaza or the West Bank? Maybe they could take a walk on one of the 'Jews Only' roads. Or maybe they could visit the wall of occupation and Homer could exclaim 'WTF! I thought all this type of stuff ended when Apartheid was scrapped in South Africa!' Probably not. The fact this episode is even getting drawn shows who really controls the media in USA.
If they'll spend any time with Palestinians under occupation in the west bank and gaza, visit the separation wall, get beaten up by Israeli settlers, get their house demolished, get their land confiscated... probably not
The Simpsons is one of the greatest satirical shows of all time...I hope that they don't ignore the issues of Israel's settlement of illegally occupied land, oppression of Palestinians, contravention of international law, warmongering paranoia, and spout worn out and disproven myths about Israel's foundation... Who am I kidding...I am preparing to lay to rest my affection for this icon of my generation. D'OH!
" believe me, when you are bombed by Israel, there is nothing funny about it." Moonsear does that also apply to being blown up by suicide bombers in restaurants, malls and buses because thats not funny either. Nor is 8,000 ropckets fired at civilians. There never seems to be a Muslim idea of "Cause and Effect" You try to kill us we will defend ourselves. You always seem so surprised by that. Until you learn this you will never have a state.
Enjoy your horse steak... Oh, and don't choke on your daily xenophobic spew.
May I take this oppourtunity to watch The Life of Brian. It should be compulsory viewing for everyone.
It's lucky Ned Flanders didn't make the trip. He'd go apocalyptic in Tel Aviv, let alone Jerusalem.
Debbie, according to a recent Gallop poll, American support for Israel is the highest in 20 years. Secondly, it is not up to America to give rights to the Palestinians, that is Israel's duty, when an agreement can be made. So thinking that the Simpsons is propaganda just does not make sense.
yes Dave, when you are safe at home you feel the need for humour, but believe me, when you are bombed by Israel, there is nothing funny about it.
look at the picture .... an Israeli male without a bald head!
Check out her blog at http://debbieschlussel.com . She's a consistent critic of Muslims and Palestinians, and wouldn't be calling to "give the palestinians there [sic] human rights". (And she knows the difference between their and there.)
Debbie, What in the world does a Simpsons cartoon show have to do with Philistine rights, Philistine terror, or anything tied to the real world. Its not like a Hamas childrens show instructing kids to kill Jews, and die in the name of Jihad. Put the Koran down and grow a sense of humor.

or in the case of its Jewish writers the "Self loathing" tag will be applied.
Isreal needs to reassure americans that Isreal is a "great country", its only a matter of time that americans will wake up and smell the falafal. and give the palestians there human rights
just moved to Israel and the kids can't wait to actually identify the Simpsons with Israel, always great light hearted comedy that all should be able to relate too.
hoo
Its all been too heavy for years, no smiles, no lightheartedness an no humor. Well done to the producers for finally shedding a little light humor of the subject of the middle east. Comedy can help!!
